` you don’t need to . ` his voice is flat and languid , but he does mean it . there’s no reason for his partner to pay him back in cash , especially when , again , it’s not his money . kiyoharu rises from his seat and heads towards the cashier to pay with his credit card . as the workers continue to box the duo’s purchase , kiyoharu turns to face shizuku , directly this time . ` let’s just win the next competition . and the one after that . ` he turns momentarily to take the bags with their shoes inside , ushering a final ` thank you ` before turning back to his partner .  ` and have fun while competing . `

❛ after having similar conversations such as this one , one would think you'd be used to my answer whenever you say that by now ! ❜ shizuku follows suit when kiyoharu stands to purchase their choices of footwear . eying the cashier warily , in fear that her new pair of shoes would cost more than what was on the price tag , she's pulled out of her worries when kiyoharu addresses her . she watches on as he deftly takes their belongings and bows with him to the employee before he ushers her forward . ❛ when you put it like that , how can i say no ? ❜

Woohyun stops chopping the carrot as he hears that statement. He raises an eyebrow at her and places the knife down onto the chopping board, “What? They’re making fun of you because you don’t have a mother?” He scoffs quietly, rolling his eyes, “What if you don’t have a mother? What’s wrong with having two fathers? By that, I meant Myungsoo and I being your father.”

his head automatically turns towards his partner , observing what kind of shoes she chose . as long as she’s fine with what she picks , so is he . kiyoharu allows his attention to be shortly shifted to take and try on a pair of standard shoes a worker picked out for him . customarily , they chose one that fits perfectly . he takes them off and hands it back , followed by a small ` i’ll take these . ` again does he turn to look at what shizuku is doing . ` i don’t mind . as long as it lasts us through practice , anything is fine . ` it’s not his money anyways .

quietly accepting her choice of footwear from the employee , shizuku makes quick work of her loafers , putting on the disposable sheer socks supplied by the store for trying on shoes before slipping on the pratice heels she picked out earlier . shizuku's hardly surprised that they fit like a glove ; not too tight , nor at they too loose to slip off in the midst of practice . only the best from a high quality store like this , she thinks . ❛ these'll do , ❜ shizuku smiles up at the attendent , stepping out of the shoes and boxing them for purchase . ❛ i owe you one , kiyoharu-kun — just put it under my tab ! i'll pay you back . it's a promise . ❜

kiyoharu gestures to the side which cased female shoes for shizuku to choose from , all ranging from flats to heels in a variety of colors . whites , grays , and blacks appears to be the most common . ` anywhere . pick what you like and see if it’s comfortable to move in . i’ll be over there . ` he motions with his head to the other side of the store and promptly makes his way towards the men’s section . already , he’s greeted with the familiarity of workers who’s helped him out before . kiyoharu , with as must respect as he can , cuts the worker off and asks if he can try one of the black standard practice shoes . he rather not stay longer just to listen to someone babble . he takes a seat opposite of the case and waits patiently for the worker to hand it to him .

❛ eh ?❜ before she could question her childhood friend , shizuku had been left to her own devices to peruse the racks of her own volition . biting down on her lip , she looks to and fro , eyeballing which side to start from . shuffling towards the side that showcased practice shoes , typically cheaper than standard or latin , she brushes a finger along the backs of each pump before settling on one with a reasonably thick heel . handing her choice to a worker on standby , she sits beside kiyoharu , ❛ gonna buy a pair or five today , kiyoharu-kun ?❜

` we’re not lost . just give me a second . ` already , he could feel the sheer disappointment oozing for his partner , but really , they aren’t lost . kiyoharu continues to walk , slowly at first for shizuku to notice his movements . he would be able to notice the store at first sight , but similar looking buildings in the surrounding area kind of make the task a little difficult when getting there . ` ah – ` he halts , ` there it is . ` kiyoharu makes his way into the store , giving a small ` thank you ` to the man holding the door open .

❛ or so you say — ❜ shizuku can't help but quip , ❛ it's okay if we're lost , kiyoharu-kun , we can always just ask for directions . ❜ but from her peripheral vision , she sees him on the move once again ; perhaps he's figured out where they're going . shizuku could only hope that he had . after walking along the block for a few minutes , the pair come to a stop at a nondescript storefront . she follows suit when kiyoharu greets the doorman , and is quickly swept in by the ambiance of the swanky boutique . despite the unflattering building that houses the store , past the glass doors revealed cases of beautiful imported latin , standard , and practice shoes . far beyond what shizuku could afford , that's for sure . ❛ there's so much to choose from . . . where do you even start , kiyoharu-kun ? ❜

` you don’t need to spend anything . i’ll buy it . ` a feeling of dread hits him at just the thought of his mother’s wrath if he didn’t treat his partner according to her standards . kiyoharu looks around as he leads them through the streets , searching for a store he often manages to enter along with shizuku . he slows down when more and higher buildings come into view . ` it should be somewhere around here … `

❛ kiyoharu-kun . . . ❜ shizuku couldn't help feeling as if she were taking advantage of the kindness the hyoudou family bestowed upon her from time to time . she was skeptical of the doting marisa-sensei tended to indulge from time to time , and she wouldn't put it past her mentor to pass on the sentiment to her son . with a fond smile , she turns to her partner , ready to say something along the lines of ' when we make it big i'll repay you someday ' but instead out came—❛ . . . you had one job . ❜

glad that they have “ both “ come to a understanding , he stands up from his position on the floor and heads towards one end of the studio to grab his wallet and phone . ` lets head out . a new pair shouldn’t be too pricey – well , no . it is pricey . you can pick out something for yourself while we’re out too . `

instinctively , shizuku stands and is just a step behind her partner before she remembers to grab her own phone and purse . sprinting to catch up with kiyoharu—when did his strides get longer ?—she falls into a comfortable pace with him before initiating conversation , ❛ i'm a little short on money , so i don't think i'll be spending anything today , kiyoharu-kun . i'll just help you find a pair , or five . just in case of emergencies . . . ❜
