IT BELONGS IN A STEAMY FLIM NOIR
"You forgot my orders again, didn't you?"
She jumped at the familiar voice behind her, turning quickly to face her leader with a stutter, having been standing in the doorway of a room in their current hideout, not entirely sure what she was doing there.
“No, um, of course not! You wanted me to um………”
A hand rose up to cup her chin as she strained to think of what she could be forgetting now.
“You wanted me to….investigate…..something…?”
Yeah no, she had no clue, sighing as she bowed her head a bit.
“I’m sorry.”
shizunblinky:
“Oh of course! I’ll get right on that!”
She didn’t remember that order at all, but it wouldn’t stop her from brightening up and acting like it had all just come back to her. She smiled at the other, giving another quick bow before hurrying off to do as she’d been bid, typing herself a quick note on her phone that she’d never remember to read (The new note probably being saved right next to her old one of the last thing she’d forgotten).
And the Spider head new it. He would have to look into the dog fighting ring himself. A lot of big names seemed to involved with this one in particular. He was not one for black mail. It took up time and in most cases the people he deemed worth black mailing were too arrogant to fork over the money, thinking they could out smart the Phantom Troupe.
No, he would steal one of the top dog’s puppies and raise it himself than sick it on it’s own father. Of course rigging the whole thing and placing a large bet on his own dog.
Why go through the long processes of raising a dog? Because he could easily sell the thing for millions of jennies after the match, plus the spider had been wanting a pet. He couldn’t just steal a dog that wouldn’t make him a profit once he got bored of it. That just wouldn’t do.
He went to the ring himself, dressed in casual clothes for the occasion. The sounds of mutts ripping each other to shreds as sadistic men looked on and cheered assaulted his ears when he walked in. The dingy building reeking of sweat and blood. Human bodies jam packed around a hole in the ground. Through the small spaces between them he could see two huge dogs throwing themselves at each other in blind rage, illuminated by bright over head lights.
The barks of other dogs waiting in cages up against the ware house walls seemed to drive the beasts on, tearing into each with fangs and brute force.
His eyes easily slide off this carnage, too desensitized from years of a much worse kind of violence. The kind man carried in his heart towards other men. Instead they scanned the crowd, catching sight of Vicious’s owner.
The head of the Spider smiled and moved through the throng of people to speak with him. Hoping to sweet talk him into revealing what he wanted.
“Daichou?”
A confused voice sounded out behind him, Shizuku having caught sight of him entering as she’d been making her way towards the exit, only just now managing to get to him through the throngs of people.
She didn’t know why Chrollo was here, and for a moment had almost been afraid that maybe this was something they’d planned in some second part that she’d forgotten but she was pretty sure there had only been one so it made no sense to see him here, considering she was pretty sure that he had no actual viewing interest in the fights themselves.
What does the most recent text that you sent say?
Now this would be an adventure, seeing as for the life of her she couldn’t remember sending the message, but it was definitely from her.
“It’s to Franklin, it says to remind me to tell you something that I forgot to last time I saw you”

chained-spider:
“Apology accepted. I feel that is is my fault as your leader for not giving you a task you could handle more easily.” Meaning he should have told Franklin to handle it instead.
And in a way, she knew that’s what he meant, offering him an apologetic look, a bit flustered that she’d let him down on whatever he’d set her to do and wanting to make up for it.
“I’m sorry, if you could give me a quick reminder I’ll get right on it!”
Seeing as the job was now done and finished he couldn’t. That of course wouldn’t stop him from lying to her and giving her another task to make the spider feel better about her failure.
“I need you to look into a uh, dog fighting ring.” This was a possible job he wanted to do but hadn’t gotten time to do it. “Find out the next time the dog Vicious is suppose to sire puppies. I want the pick of the litter.”
"Shizu, want to play chess?"
“Chess? Oh, that sounds like fun.”
She offered the other a tiny smile, having been staring off into space for a while as she tried to piece together her thoughts on something. Chess would be nice, it was something that was easy to focus on and even if she got distracted it wouldn’t be too hard to return to it.
Making a small noise of approval, Kortopi moved to go retrieve the chess set from one of the many little nooks and crannies in the disaster area they called a base. Shizuku was his favorite person to play with, because her forgetfulness aside, she was quite intelligent and perceptive, and it made for interesting matches. He lead them over to the flat piece of crumbled wall they usually played on, setting down the board game and beginning to set it up.
"Do you want to go first, or second?“ He asked, not taking his eyes off of his task.
She followed after him, taking her seat opposite him as he pulled out the board and she watched him set up, reaching out to help him after he’d placed a few choice pieces in their correct positions. She was generally pretty good with stuff like this, things that didn’t change were far easier for her to commit to memory, but she liked to make sure since there forever remained the chance that she might distractedly misplace something and then feel flustered to have it called on which could in turn mess with her ability to focus on building a proper strategy.
“Hmmm, well you have the white ones, so I guess you should go first?”
It was better to stick to the rules, rules were easy to remember and she preferred them.
