You need to move off of Google Docs!

I know some people have seen the news recently and may be doubtful of it. To the uninformed, Google Docs has started using AI to find "inappropriate" and "problematic" content, scraping your documents and deleting it. I know some people are unsure if this is real or think this is not going to affect them.

I regret to inform you that this is real.

As I was on a call with some writers and we were moving our documents as a precautionary measure, one person discovered entire pages missing that they did not delete themselves. This is happening to us, it's not a hoax or a rumor, it's happening right now. You need to move everything if you want to preserve it.

If you're a writer with writer mutuals, please reblog this so they know. I rarely write on Google Docs anymore, but I started my fanfics on there, and I would be devastated if I lost works more than ten years old because people decided marketing appeal is more important than creative freedom.

Honestly these days, between AI scraping and censorship, if you write anything more than groceries' lists you should not have it online. Ever. Not even as a backup.

Mastercard and visa have reported to a couple news outlets that they are currently being swamped with calls and complaints. Keep up the pressure and try to (politely) insist that you leave a complaint via phone instead of letting the rep direct you to emails. It's way easier to be overwhelmed by a much smaller number of calls so each one counts for a bit more!

I thought it wouldn't happen. Even if I knew it would, eventually. Like with Lemmy. We all joked he would survive us all or that he would outlast most of his generation. He did not. He went out at a normal age, after a spectacular public farewell.

Ozzy went towards home today, and another piece of music is not with us anymore. I like to think that he caressed the idea to die while singing his last songs live, barely two weeks ago in Birmingham. I bet he was disappointed Satan left him to live further. Somehow among all rock or metal musicians, Ozzy felt like he would go out with a bang, like a true rockstar, in a spectacular way. He missed it for a few days, shame on you Satan.

Anyway.

I grew up with Ozzy's music. It was not popular in my household but hey, that's what most of metal is. And who cares anyway? I had my walkman, then cd player, then computer speakers to play Ozzy and Black Sabbath's songs. And it sufficed. I did not care that others did not and still will not appreciate such music. I believe in striving to discover the best there is in arts in life and we all may land in slightly different places. But as long as we strive, we will discover gems that will warm our hearts again and again. The War Pigs riff, the bass intro of NIB, the solo of Mr.Crowley (R.I.P. Randy!), the refrain of Changes, the lyrics of Mama I Am Coming Home. There's lots to love in Ozzy's music, and we should rejoice that music never dies, always there for us whenever we need. That is the gift artists leave to humanity: little moments of joy, fun, sadness. Emotions. That must be respected, a word that has lost weight nowadays.

Hope Satan regrets it not taking you on the stage. Farewell Ozzy. Are you home yet?
