So apparently Moonfruit, the company which used to host my old sims website, is closing down their free service. I don't really think I even have anything over there that wasn't transferred to @bodyshopped but I just thought I'd mention a relic of the past will no longer be around.

So, before I left (last week), I finally figured out how to use that simpose thingy, which resulted Sims 1 family pictures! :D

And I also figured out how to recolor objects in Sims 1, so nobody can stop me now, I’ll make family picture objects in that game too *evil laughter*

Players will now be able to change a character's gender at any point

Electronic Arts have announced today (June 2) that all gender-based boundaries have now been removed from The Sims. Until now, the popular video game series has restricted certain clothing, hair styling, body shape, walk type and voice options to either male or female characters. However, with a free update made available today, all options will be available to all characters regardless of their gender. Electronic Arts said in a statement to press today that it wanted to “make sure players can create characters they can identify with or relate to through powerful tools that give them influence over a Sims’ gender, age, ethnicity, body type and more”.

A sim still can’t wear both clothing options if I’m interpreting this correctly, but hey, this is still a big step forward.

Do you ever have the thing where you start a new neighbourhood and it loads and it's covered in hundreds of overlapping, inexplicable ponds? Or palm trees?

No, I’ve never had that happen. If you had played the hood, I’d wonder if maybe you’d used custom hood deco and then removed the cc from your game. But if it’s a brand new hood, then I’m at a loss.

Does anyone else know anything about this?

I do!

When making terrains in Sim City Four, you can add foliage in the game which, after transferring the file to Sims 2, will be used to give your ‘hood some greenery upon first loading. The problem is that the game can pick from a seemingly random selection of neighbourhood deco trees to fill in the gaps. Sometimes it’s hedges, sometimes it’s ponds or palm trees, it’s anyone’s guess which will pop up.

Your only option is to either delete them all (time-consuming); try re-creating the hood from scratch (also time-consuming with those loading times!) or taking it into SC4, deleting the trees there, and then starting from scratch (Which, you guessed it, takes awhile!).

Hey Guys! As I mentioned a while back I’m doing my dissertation on Fashion in a Virtual World and you’re all invited to be part of it!!! I’ve made a short survey (10 questions!) and also made a simple little sweater dress as a gift for doing it, just for you! It comes in 7 plain swatches and the Givenchy inspired Bella Goth print.
