HAPPY ONE YEAR CLOSING ANNIVERSARY TO GREAT COMET. i’d be lying if i said i haven’t cried thinking about this day, or the fact that i saw comet about a year and two weeks ago. i’l never forget this show. i’ll never forget writing fedya, marya, milana, and the many wonderful muses i still love and adore that this show helped me flesh out. to this day, comet is still one of my all time favorite shows and experiences.

SHARP EDGES AND ROUNDED CORNERS didn’t go together , anyone with common sense knew this. but this was amelie and fedya , layered with desperation and frustration and concern , and all they wanted to do was HELP each other. she wanted to explain , to excuse , but she knew that it wouldn’t make any of it better. amelie messed up and caused panic , and that was HER FAULT.

her first instinct was to apologize AGAIN , but she managed to keep her lips sealed , just listening as he spoke. she DESERVED this. the only feeling that ran through her blood was guilt guilt guilt and it wasn’t FEDYA’S fault , it was her own. a beat passed and her legs felt as if they were going to give out , prompting her make her way to the couch , her eyes NEVER meeting his. ‘ … i was trying to help. ‘

FEDYA IS A MAN who, in the long run, would rather cut to the chase of things. yes, he may wonder why things happen, why situations turn out the way that they do, and what CAUSED them in the first place, but at the end of the day, he is more SIMPLE than he is given credit for. at this point, what has lead to his friend neglecting herself doesn’t necessarily matter to him, not as much as her striving towards getting BETTER. if she heals, what came before is something he’d rather not dwell on at all.

she drops her gaze once more ( she was never bear his gaze for longer than a few minute, but the cause seems to have changed now, as has the way he looks at her ), focusing on her hands fidgeting with the fabric of her shawl. she shivers, just slightly ( she’s been inside with natasha for so long, it’s almost as though she’s FORGOTTEN about the biting cold out of the outside ), and she pulls her shawl a bit closer around her shoulders helplessly, suddenly aware of how the two of them are just standing in the doorway, but still hesitant to invite him in. she shakes her head.

❛ no — no, i knew that. ❜ voice growing meeker, she looks up at him once more. ❛ i don’t understand what you mean by, ah, standing in. ❜ what the prince has done is done, it’s not like it can be reversed by dolokhov’s ( what seems to be ) GUILT.

HER AVERSION TO THE cold only prompts him to show that he is generally unbothered by it. it’s all subconscious, but standing there, boots caked heavy with snow, his coat hangs open, and the rest of his clothes do little to shield him from the russian winter. surely, fedya didn’t expect a warm welcome, but he had MISCALCULATED just how skeptical the situation would be for anyone but the woman who lay dying inside. still, at this point, he means no harm, well aware that the rostovas and their godmother had already been through their fair share of it.
