‘ that’s very kind of you. i’m quite glad you’re doing ok as well. or so you seem. are you ok? ‘ 

perhaps it was maternal instincts, but she was well aware that people were not always feeling what they appeared to be on their face. she wanted to make sure kotomi was not making others feel better while she herself was upset.

She lifted her hand in a thumbs up, giving a wink to further solidify the message.

“I’m doin’ faaaantastic, thank you! Well, a little stressed with some paperwork I forgot to fill out, but that should be an easy fix. I gotta keep my head in the game, ya know? But thanks for checkin’, you’re a real sweetie pie.” The redhead gave her a big smile, although her smiles weren’t so charming as they were grimacing.

   Shoji let out a sigh, extending his arm down to the derby star, allowing her to inspect    the butterfly origami figure. He didn’t usually show his pieces with anyone else, but    he figured that he might as well, not like he was seeing anyone else today besides his    sister at home.

She looked at the butterfly carefully, not saying a word as she looked over the details. It was gorgeous- of course. She always loved the way origami looked, it was always so delicate and carefully crafted- a far cry from what her rough hands could make.

“It looks fantastic, but that’s kinda dumb to say considerin you are the Ultimate Origami Artist...” Her lips pursed in though for a moment. “Hm, I dunno if I have any words to describe how good your work is, but it’s better than great, Shoji. Thanks for showin it to me.”

   Green hues inspected the butterfly origami figure in his hand, a single leg    dangled off the tree branch he was laying on, it was nice to be away from    the student council for a change, they were his friends, of course, but… It    got tedious from time to time. Shoji wasn’t much of a talker, socializing was    not his strong point, so when he heard the familiar voice of Kotomi; all that    left him was an annoyed sigh.

Kotomi knew Shoji didn’t socialize as much as some of the other student council kids, but his prickly answer surprised her a little. Her usual defensive anger sprang up a bit, but she exhaled and tried to keep it under control. 

“...Sorry. If you’re not in a good mood I’ll leave.”

Admittance to one’s flaws never helped a situation unless they intended to act upon it; though this was a lie to cast unto the other, she felt that delaying the inevitable would leave her alone forever. Even if she felt that inclination toward returning to her work creeping up the back of her neck, the process of dying before she graduated didn’t settle right with her; she was a teenager just like everyone else here, right? She deserved to break sometimes…if she fell under too much pressure, she’d just s n a p like a twig.

          “ Just…any time is fine with me, and I could really go for                something really cheesy—as in a really cute shopping                montage or…some really terrible food. “

“Really? That’s great! Then...” She looked to the side, thinking of what else she had to do today. There was homework, of course, but that could wait until later at night. She’d probably regret that decision later, but living in the present was her specialty.

“How about right now? I need to get some new clothes anyways, and then we can probably find something to eat in the food court.”
