Dreams | Growing up in an Asian country like Singapore, dreams has always been something frowned upon. Things were... simple. You move from education to education, from one paper to another so you could be established in the corporate world, climbing one ladder after another. Dreams has always been an elusive word, you don’t think about it, you don’t desire it (well unless your dream fits that of a Singaporean dream). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But I knew that deep inside, I have always had this secret desire to be on Broadway or West End (yes it was kept very secret for awhile) not as any lead to any musical just as an ensemble cast (or even a swing). I remember telling myself at 15 that I’d be just so happy if I got just one of those “trees” or “sweeper” or just any role for that matter in any musical you’d see on Broadway or West End. I have never really told anyone because I thought this dream was wrong, frowned upon in this society, also because it seems so unattainable I just let it become edged in some part at the back of my mind, sometimes remembering, often times hoping this dream would go away. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I always wondered what God thought of this but never dared ask for I feared His response wouldn’t be something that I wanted. I prayed this dream away rather than truly seeking what He says. After much running away, on one fateful day I finally decided it was time I confronted these thoughts with Him. God has been so patient, gracious, loving and kind, He has been for me and not against me. He gently told me how some of these dreams He put in me are not ungodly to say the least and that dreams look like different things to different people, no one bigger or smaller than another, all of which are gifted by Him through the creativity of our God. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At times I think about this dream and shudder in fear. Many have told me many things about the scene, that there are loads out there and all far more qualified than I am. I have wrestled and cried and wrestled again. Honestly never knowing if that day will come. I will choose to continue working on my craft faithfully and wait actively. All the while praying through it all, that may any ounce of my sel (at London, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9PT7CHl1M1/?igshid=1rrbml46gwbyd
