𝓬𝓪𝓻𝓸𝓵 𝓪𝓵𝓶𝓸𝓼𝓽 𝓶𝓪𝓭𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓲𝓭𝓮𝓪 𝓸𝓯 taking a break sound rather appealing. if natasha thought she was worthy of a break, she would’ve taken one long ago. a heavy weight of guilt rested on her shoulders for the billions of lives the avengers couldn’t save. of course she felt responsible, she wasn’t able to do anything to put so much as a dent in thanos’s plan. thinking about resting already made her anxious, her back pushing upright against the support of the kitchen stool, her spoon hitting the granite countertop in a clang. if there were any double-meanings leftover in carol’s speech, natasha missed them, though she rose an elegantly arched brow at something else. “so highly, huh?” natasha’s background typically brought out one of two reactions from people: either extreme fear or automatic distrust. her hands weren’t clean and she wondered if that sort of thing would’ve thrown carol off, no matter how much natasha tried to push down a sense of worry, because there were so many other matters in the universe to be concerned about that were grander than her dark, bloody past. instead of taking that depressing trip down memory lane, natasha temptingly proposed, “it sounds like you want to spar with me, danvers. well?” natasha’s sparred heavily against some of the most proficient martial arts practitioners, and she’s fought a decent amount of enhanced individuals, but that didn’t mean that the black widow didn’t personally acknowledge how strong carol was. strength in a woman was always a turn-on; natasha just very much relishes the idea of wrapping herself around carol more than anything. it’s selfish and flirtatious but it is what it is, and maybe she also just wants to witness carol’s smirk faltering a bit. “i will keep your offer in mind. it could be… interesting.”

“Interesting, yeah. It definitely would be,” the blonde haired hero agreed without an ounce of hesitation in her voice. It was not only an excuse to have some alone time with Natasha, but from a professional stand point, a chance to work with an extremely talented ass-kicker. But Carol wasn’t focused on professional right now for once in her life. That was the last thing on her mind as she gazed from across the counter at Natasha still. Her pearly white teeth slowly sunk into her bottom lip gently. She couldn’t even hold her gaze on the other woman for too long before she’d giggle underneath her breath. “Hopefully that cereal’s good. Kinda jealous I passed up on your offer now,” she joked, releasing her bottom lip from her teeth’s grasp as she giggled at her own remark. Carol leaned back and she planted her hands on the counter as she prepared an offer. Nothing quite as in-depth as trying to convince someone to go into space with her since that still seemed like a long shot. “Look. I was actually thinking... since I probably won’t be getting you in space anytime soon, I was thinking about maybe watching a movie tonight... and I was wondering if maybe you’d wanna join me? Living room, my room. your room; I don’t really have a preference.”

𝔀𝓪𝓼 𝓲𝓽 𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓻𝓲𝓫𝓵𝔂 𝓮𝓶𝓫𝓪𝓻𝓻𝓪𝓼𝓼𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝓼𝓱𝓮 couldn’t recall the last time she’d been out in the regular world? the avengers compound was familiar, homely, and exactly what natasha needed to help cope. perhaps she was too attached but she didn’t want to self-analyze too deeply over such things. uncertain green eyes flicked up to study the captain as natasha settled her bowl and milk down against the granite counter, hiking herself up on top of a kitchen stool. it wasn’t her desire to keep carol awake if she was exhausted from her travels but now she’d captured natasha’s utmost attention. “does everyone think i’m turning into some creepy old lady who never leaves the home? you know, i used to actually be fun, danvers.” and she’s usually not so spry on the silly quips with anyone other than barton or rogers. maybe she just liked being this way with danvers because she received natasha’s humor so well. it’s something that, once again, natasha was trying not to read too much into as she dove her spoon into the bowl of cereal and ate casually. eating gave her a few moments to really ponder carol’s offer, which she should’ve jumped on immediately since she’d been the one to confess out loud that she wanted to join the captain. it’s not that natasha regrets saying what she said. she’s already space-traveled once before when they were tracking thanos back to his retirement garden, and she at least hadn’t gotten sick onboard the ship they’d used. now that she was physically living at the compound day in and day out, natasha didn’t want to leave unless there was a way to reverse what thanos had done, and who else would lead the team if she was gone? there was no one else, steve had taken his losses and gone as well, so that might leave rhodey in charge if he was even willing. “why would you want to bring me back to space when you haven’t even really seen my skillset to know if i’d be efficient enough up there?” it could’ve been a pity offer, yet still the widow was curious to the point of appearing interrogative, her lips softly smirking to show that carol had her interested.

“Who said anything about needing a SKILLSET, hmm? I was thinking that you needed a little vacation; a chance to get outta the house for a minute. Plus, I’ve seen how you use a gun. I don’t know what all you’re capable of but I think you’d be just fine as long as you don’t get hit.” Fury always did speak highly of Natasha whenever she was brought up during their conversations. Fury was the one person who Carol trusted with every fiber of her body. Carol finished the glass of water, drinking the last little bit before she sat the glass down in the sink with every intention to get to it a little later. Right now, she was a little too focused on her conversation with Natasha. She stepped over to where Nat was sitting, on the other side of the counter and she rested her arms on the granite as she leaned towards the other woman. “I wouldn’t mind seeing what you are capable of. There must be a reason you’re regarded so highly.” That grin had twisted into more of a smirk. Could her words have double meaning? Maybe. Maybe not. That was for Carol to know and Natasha to figure out. She clicked her nails against the counter - one after the other - as the blonde tilted her head a few degrees. It did get pretty lonely out there. Sure, there were the Skrulls and other lifeforms that she’s befriended but it wasn’t the same as having another human. Even if Carol wasn’t fully human technically. “Something for you to think about. Just you, me, and entire galaxy out there full of planets. Everyone deserves a break; chance to relax and let loose. I won’t keep you for long. You’ll be back here before you know it.”

the worries expressed had certainly been genuine and yet padmé could not help the smile that cracked across her otherwise serious demeanor, unable the resist the infectious nature of his own grin.  obi-wan had a way with words that she could not deny, even if perhaps they were all a little too guilty of running headfirst into trouble.  her sort of trouble just didn’t always involve weapons.  “don’t be too certain about it, master kenobi.  it wasn’t that long ago that i was coming to rescue you,” she teased him back.  the rescue mission on geonosis had not exactly gone as planned, but it’s easy enough to look at with a selective lens.  “you both like to get into trouble.”

“Me? Taking pleasure in getting into trouble? That’s preposterous!” You could easily sense the light tone behind his words which indicated that he wasn’t actually offended by such a claim. “You must’ve hit your head or gotten me confused with someone else.” Obi-Wan insisted with that not-so-serious tone still in his voice. It’s not his fault that trouble seemed to always find him no matter where he went or what he did. It’s like he was a magnet that pulled trouble in his direction and being around Anakin only amplified it. “I do thank you again for rescuing me. Who knows what might have happened on Geonosis had you not been so courageous?”

the apartment that she lived in was quite lovely by all standards, high in the levels of coruscant and offering a clear view of much of the senate district –– even the jedi temple standing mighty in the distance.  but the balcony was easily the loveliest part of it, offering the closest thing to fresh air that the never ending city contained.  “so should you,” she pointed out, her voice still high and gentle, a little tainted by the slumber that she had just awoken from.  in the thin silk nightgown, it was nearly chilly to stand out here at this time of night.  “i woke up and my husband was gone from our bed.  i thought i’d investigate,” she said as she moved closer to him, her hand moving to rest on the back of his bicep.  concern warmed the brown hue of her eyes as she looked up at him.  “ani, what’s wrong?”

Anakin wasn’t fast to answer her question. He hesitated for a moment. No longer than what felt like a couple of seconds before speaking up. “I’m not too sure,” he admitted but of course, it’s not the answer she was probably hoping to hear so he elaborated on it a little more. “The Council has tasked me with a mission. They need us to go and investigate something on another planet. Myself and a team of Clone Troopers. I sense that there’s something that they aren’t telling me. That there’s something that they are hiding from me.” Paranoia was present in the young Jedi’s mind and it couldn’t be removed. Maybe these routine check-ins with Palpatine weren’t doing him any favors either. He brought his still human hand up and ran his thumb against her cheek. Then he flashed a grin at her. “You need not to worry about me though. I’ll be fine.”

“𝓲𝓽 𝓼𝓾𝓬𝓴𝓼 𝓽𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝓲'𝓶 𝓷𝓸𝓽 𝓪𝓫𝓵𝓮 𝓽𝓸 𝓰𝓸 𝔀𝓲𝓽𝓱 𝔂𝓸𝓾,” natasha feels her shoulders slumping in a slight sense of defeat. while teams weren’t carol’s style- captain marvel has made it quite publicly known that she doesn’t need a team, it’s still natasha’s instinct to not let her teammates be alone. natasha herself could be pretty ruthless, yet that was a side reserved for her enemies, and the avengers had more than enough of those. what of companionship? did such a thing even compel the captain or was natasha getting ahead of herself? the black widow forcibly snapped out of her thoughts when carol looked back at her, as well as feigning a barely-there smile upon thick reddish lips. “hey, this is your home, too. we want you to be comfortable here. …i’ll meet you in the kitchen in half an hour.” she was still working on the whole inspirational leader thing. someone had to keep the family together, whatever family she had left. fluidly, natasha slipped around the blonde and padded light feet towards the desolate hallway, heading back to her room. eventually a hot shower ran over creamy, partially scarred skin, loosening up some of her muscles that had grown too tense for too long. natasha’s head tilted to one side in a moment of pristine relaxation, the beads of water rolling down her exposed throat and traveling low as possible. for a brief period of time her mind wandered to something as plain and simple as carol danvers and her hands, and if the captain knew how to work them to heal instead of just destroy- if they would be any talented at massaging the knotted muscles in natasha’s back. the fantasy seemingly emerged out of nowhere and was almost immediate to be forgotten with natasha shutting off the water, shaking her head to clear it. carol was just a friend, perhaps not even that… and while somewhat polite to natasha, it wasn’t as if she was attached to the avengers or any of them. she just worked and helped out and that was all. there was no grudge to be held against that. as agreed upon, natasha went down to the kitchen a half an hour later, sporting damp red curls of hair and a simple hoodie with baggy sweats. keeping it covered up and casual, there was no way she’d allow her mind to drift off into fantasy land about carol’s hands now. “don’t judge me, but i’m having cereal for dinner. i’m really just not into extravagant cooking as of late,” snickering lightly, natasha shuffled through the kitchen to pry open a cabinet. “so you’re not tired or anything from your travels? or is sleep not something the captain marvel requires?”

Carol looked up as soon as she heard the sound of someone approaching the kitchen; clearly it would be Natasha since no one else was here. She had her head buried in a magazine that she found after changing which was dated from a couple years ago but that was now that furthest thing from her mind. Carol herself had changed into a pair of jeans and a old t-shirt that she loved the feel of against her skin. Was it fair that someone could actually make a hoodie and sweats look attractive? Nope. Not at all. It was so different from the outfits that she normally saw her in but it left more to the imagination. “I can’t say I blame you,” she replied as she laughed at the other woman. “But I’m actually a lot more tired than you’d probably ever realize, so yes. The Captain Marvel requires sleep just like you and everyone else.” Carol mocked Natasha with a cheeky grin spreading across her features. Then she found herself gazing at the other woman as she drifted off into silence. Then she realized she was gazing maybe a little too long. And so she began to panic for a brief second so to distract herself, she went to grab herself a glass so that she could at least have a drink of water. It was the first idea to come to mind. Carol was feeling a little parched after all. “Maybe you can come with me once though. We’d have to take a ship or find you a suit that could get you through space but I’m sure we could make it work. Tony probably has something lying around. Plus we could get you outta here. When was the last time you left this place?” Carol wondered as she brought her glass of water to her mouth and gently poured some of the liquid into her mouth.

𝓲𝓯 𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓮 𝔀𝓪𝓼 𝓪 𝓽𝓲𝓶𝓮 𝓷𝓪𝓽𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓪 𝔀𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓭 to feel useful and to have everyone taken care of, it was now. but the remarkable people she had in her midst could take care of themselves. steve was relying more and more on his group therapy, thor was basically a no show, along with so many others choosing to withdraw into themselves ever since the snap. carol popping in meant a lot to natasha, though hearing the captain insist that she didn’t need anything to eat had the red head shifting and looking away uncomfortably. “i see. next time,” she murmured, unloading and setting her pistol aside. training was a preferable distraction and yet, these impromptu visits from carol weren’t occurring often enough so each one had to be taken full advantage of. natasha raised her head and approached the blonde slowly, observing harder than she probably should’ve been- for significant changes and the like. not to mention, danvers was quite difficult to read, and this observation was coming from a notorious spy. of course natasha had to pay close attention. “everything’s still in chaos then? out there?” if chaos pervaded the universe, carol truly didn’t seem fazed by it at all. “we could talk about it… if you want. i just gotta shower and change. and maybe make some dinner for myself. so if you don’t mind waiting…” her red little head tilted curiously, wondering if carol would accept the company because clearly natasha desired it.

There had to be someone who stayed strong throughout all of this. Her heart ached every time she heard of someone losing a parent, best friend, or a lover because of the snap. But she had to stay strong. Carol felt as though she had no other choice. Especially since so many people looked to her for hope. Not every planet had their own Avengers to look to for help. “Yeah,” she answered with a nod of her head. A heavy breath of air slipped from her lungs. “Mostly people trying to figure out how to live at the moment. No one’s prepared for something as crazy as this, obviously. Some planets have gone to chaos because they don’t know what else to do. I’m trying my best to help but there’s only so much I can do. I can’t help people who don’t want help and it just... It sucks, Nat.” In the midst of her mini ramble, she brought her hand out of her pocket and she began to run her fingers and her palm up her arm. Her gaze diverted it’s way away from Natasha for the moment. Carol brought in a deep breath as she gathered her emotions. Stay strong, she said to herself. Her lips curved upwards as she glanced back at the Avenger. Maybe a night alone with Natasha was exactly what she needed as well. “I don’t mind waiting at all. I might just go change into something a little more comfortable myself. Keep myself a little busy while I wait for you.”

𝓫𝓮𝓯𝓸𝓻𝓮 𝓱𝓮𝓻 𝓯𝓸𝓾𝓷𝓭 𝓯𝓪𝓶𝓲𝓵𝔂, natasha had nothing. to see that family crumble, and then later on quite literally disappear into dust, brought unto her a type of loneliness and brokenness that was incredibly difficult to put into words. she didn’t want to let them go, even as her best friend clint went off the grid, further deepening some of natasha’s wounds. whatever was left of the team had to continue, giving up was not an option for her. although tonight, things were relatively quiet with no avengers meetings left to be held for the remainder of the week. she spent the bulk of her day just training, piercing bullets into their makeshift targets at the base’s indoor gun range, lowering her pistol only when she noticed a familiar head of blonde poking into the room. “you’re back,” the greeting fell flat, and though natasha wanted to smile, days of emotional turmoil certainly drained a woman even for one as highly trained in the art of self-numbing as her. “didn’t know you were one for surprises, but it’s nice to see you, danvers. have you eaten anything yet?”

Thousands of planets in the known universe were in a panic over the sudden disappearance of a good chunk of their population. Many of them had no clue what was going on or what could have possibly caused this. Carol tasked herself with the duty of helping as many people as she could. Some of them she could help in these dark times while most of them she couldn’t. She couldn’t possibly be everywhere at once. She heard the sound of a gun firing deep in the base and right away she knew who it had to be. “I’m not one for surprises, no, but I was just a few planets over. Figured I’d stop by. See how everyone was doing. Didn’t think I needed to call you guys to let you know.” Carol stepped further into the room as she slipped her hands into the pocket of the leather jacket that she was wearing over top of her signature red, blue, and yellow outfit that many lifeforms across the galaxy have come to recognize as a symbol of hope. “Nice to see you too, Natasha. Wouldn’t have ate earlier had I know you were gonna offer me a meal. Maybe next time, yeah?”

Steve has never really planned on finding someone he could be intimate with again. He’d accepted his role in the world, despite all the things that had changed since he’d first went under, the world still needed Captain America. The New York invasion , Hydra, Ultron and now Thanos showed him that. There wasn’t a lot of room for him to find a romantic connection. Though he had seemed to stumble upon a more casual relationship. A concept that he hadn’t really known until now. It first began after a particular intense mission. He and Carol had returned to base still full of adrenaline and that ended with them in bed together. Since then they’d released their sexual energy whenever they had a spare moment. Was it becoming more? It was hard to say really, Steve didn’t wish to push his luck.

Steve had just returned from an brief assignment testing the defenses of a new Shield facility. He hadn’t expected to walk into his apartment to find Carol in nothing but an apron. He was shocked, but only momentarily before he allowed a wide smile to grace his gestures. “You didn’t have to do this. Fury and many others insisted that she needed to take a break sometimes. She’s dedicated every last hour of her life to being Captain Marvel that she barely had a chance to be Carol. This, of course, led to a relationship with a fellow Avenger. It wasn’t exactly your Hallmark-movie like romance but it was something. They wanted something but neither of them felt that they could commit to something too serious. But Carol wanted to surprise him. For once, she wasn’t off planet so what did she do? Carol decided to cook a meal with... well, a distinct lack of clothes and a lack of experience in the kitchen. Only an apron covered her athletic frame. “You could’ve left it at ‘thank you’,” she teased him as she ran her hand up along the side of his face to the back of his head before they kissed.  When they stopped and he made another remark, the short haired blonde sunk her teeth into her bottom lip as she pondered the question that she clearly didn’t have an answer for at the moment. “You could let me start with this,” she turned and her fingers twisted the knob that controlled the burner. It was turned past low and all the way to ‘off’ for the safety of his apartment. “And I take it your assignment went well.”

“Oh wow, Miss Danvers…” Peter had been staying at the new Avengers tower for a couple months now. Made sense really, it was in the city, close to college and he didn’t have to explain to these roommates why he was coming and going at such odd hours. What he hadn’t anticipated was getting so close to one person in particular, Captain Marvel. He’d had a crush on her since the day they first met, but never thought anything could come from his feelings. But since he’d moved in the flirting began. Mostly from her, because he was so damn bad at it.

Things finally came to ahead in the kitchen one fateful evening. Everyone else was gone for the night, it was just the two of them. Peter had been looking for a snack in the fridge when Carol came in. What happened next was a blur, but somehow their lips met and from there the clothes started to fall away until she was on her knees, pulling out his sizeable member. “Just goes to show, not everything about a spider is so ‘itsy bitsy’” he chuckled somewhat, his eyes not leaving her for even a moment.

There was something about their relationship or whatever you want to call it that some of the other Avengers might’ve disapproved of. Maybe it’s because of their age difference (after all, Carol Danvers was in her 60′s despite not looking the part because of her augmentations that reduced her aging process drastically). Maybe it’s because everyone was so protective of him since the events of the Battle of Earth. Either way, given that it was only the two of them, Carol took advantage of the situation. Who knows when this would happen again? Especially since she knew she’d have to go off-planet in the morning. After the short blonde haired hero had kissed him, she found herself on her knees in front of the younger male. She laughed at his joke as she then glanced upwards at him. “Always full of jokes. Aren’t you, Pete?” It was something that she obviously enjoyed and found attractive. A good sense of humor went a long way since so many things in her life were so serious. A grin spread across her lips as Carol leaned in. She wrapped her lips around the tip of the member. She slowly took more and more into her mouth each time she bobbed her head on him. Her light browns eyes stared upwards at him as she sucked him off.
