Arnheid is honestly one of the best characters in vinsaga. Its just so incredibke to me how well the story depicted all the awful things women experience at the hands of men during times of war, while still giving her a character and making her important in her own right outside of her relationship with the men. The exploration of grief and how her story ties into Season 2's theme of "you must live" was incredibley well done, the writing beautifully showcases how the situation can be even worse than it is for Thorfinn and Einar. It unflinchingly shows how women and other opressed groups's suffering is tenfold in the same situations as people like Einar and Thorfinn. Her friendship with Thorfinn and Einar was so touching, their dynamic simultaneously gut-wrenchingly painful and adorable. What really stuck out for me, however, was her relationship with Ketil- how these kinds of men who claim to "love" the women in their lives when all they truly want is ownership of them. The toxicisity of him entirely relying on her for his happiness against her will, her inability to refuse him because of her status as a slave, the way he resorted to violence and showed his true colours the moment she ever so slightly defied him despite still seeing himself as a "good man". Arnheid deserved so much better than being a victim in a war of men with no autonomy of her own, her story is one of the greatest tragedies of vinland saga. Apreciate her more nowwww!!!!!
