i genuinely cannot believe the engagement that the snoopypost has received since i posted it years ago like ??? i'm so glad u guys all really freaking like it and have felt welcomed to edit it to no end. it brings me so much joy every time i return from forgetting tumblr exists and seeing the goofy edits!!
i haven't done digital art in a while--it's not that i gave up on it, it's more that i stumbled into taking a ceramics class and then was subsequently peer pressured into doing a visual arts associates degree. i've done crazy amounts of ceramics, drawing, oil painting, printmaking, and vector art since then, and even took on a student job in curating a hallway art gallery at the school. i'll work to post my art soon.
i don't know what's in store for me art-wise, in the future. i love, LOVE art, so much. it's my therapy, my gateway to community, my intellectual stimulation, my love. but i know that it's not a sustainable future for me: an art business is out of the question, and i'm not sure about an MFA yet. i considered pursuing something in archaeology, but the thought of writing a thesis and staying in academia sounds devastating. hopefully i can find a job with my environmental science degree. really, i'm just at a crossroads between four things i love most (throw wildlife conservation in the ring!!), and needing to decide which path to go down. i think i need to take time to evaluate why an art MFA sounds so scary to me.
this last part is just to say that i don't know if i'll have art to post in the future once i'm done posting things from my associates degree. i hope you love my art (and it's okay if you don't). i hope it makes you feel things, whether that's joy, nostalgia, confusion, annoyance, whatever it may be. i hope i can look back at this post in 10 years and laugh about this 4 AM post.
i talked to my prof (shoutout prof but anonymously) and i was told to look into a post bacc program. i realized that i actually really love teaching. i think i want to do an MFA and become a college professor. life is too short to be sitting behind a desk at a corporate environmental science company and looking at samples. i love critiquing art and helping people get to where they need to go and offering advice. i unironically love people now.
