her glasses are fake. surprise surprise. she actually has near perfect vision - her red glasses were a gift from someone, and she figured that glasses make her look smarter so why the fuck not. helps with the whole Yes I'm A Smart Tutor image. and then she's enough of a loser to go buy a spare pair of the exact same fucking glasses just in case this fucking FAKE pair breaks
she's an only child
both of her parents are alive and well. or maybe not now idk
she comes from a lower-mid income family
she hates her parents. a lot. one of her motives was like IF U DONT KILL YOUR PARENTS WILL DISAPPEAR and she was like HAHA YEAH LET THEM FUCKING DIE THAT'S GREAT
her parents aren't actually that bad. they did love her a lot, they just expressed their love in the wrong way. yeah the next few points are pretty much going to be The Backstory: Wow, Reika's Surpisingly Kind Of Normal?
they knew reika was an academic prodigy from young (i.e. from preschool/elementary school) and used to force her to study very intensively, mainly out of good intention - they wanted their daughter to excel and also to further develop her 'talent'. that being that she was already pretty good at apparently 'helping' other people with their schoolwork, and this only became more apparent as she grew older. not only did she study like hell, but she also had a shitload of tutors to teach her. think asian tiger parents but even worse because Hey Our Child's A Prodigy, She Can Handle This!
reika never really complained so they assumed she was alright with it. she wasn't. Ha Ha Ha. the thing is that she never really brought it up with them, so she kind of just boiled in her own anger and her hate for her parents grew over the years.
over time they dropped a few tutors here and there so that she could tutor more people herself, and eventually she dropped all of her own classes because y'know she was already years ahead of her peers in terms of academic syllabus. she didn't need anyone to teach her anymore - tutoring people would refresh her memory enough, and she could always study by herself
so yeah she's ALWAYS been helping people with work, but the time she seriously started tutoring was when she was about 13? she started low from just her fellow classmates but her number of students grew like hell over the years. the duration of her lessons can range from like 20 minutes to an hour and yeah she teaches people at 12 midnight. she's pretty much crazy.
she obviously earns a shitload of money from tutoring now. of course people didn't want to pay her so much at the beginning, but she's pretty sought after now. (ok not now since she's dead Ha Ha)
reika likes to earn money. she was raised to be very frugal and her family is pretty focused on saving money - through the years, she was always reminded to save her money, to spend her money wisely, to earn money whenever she can... etc.
which is why she's actually pretty aight with doing the tutoring ITSELF, because yay cashdolla. she doesn't find it fun but like i said YAY MONEY.
but her parents were the ones who really got her into it, and it wasn't just because of the whole studying thing that she hated them - being a paranoid person by nature, as her hate for them grew, she also made herself believe that her parents were using her to earn money and that she was nothing but a money-making tool to them
that wasn't actually true though and deep inside she knew that. honestly this whole thing with her parents was bullshit. her parents were stupid, she was stupid and going through her Rebellious Phase and lbr if they just talked it out properly they could've settled their problems.
but nope reika left home to live by herself when she was 16 because Fuck You Guys This Is My Money You're All Terrible and bam she went to live by herself. so yeah now she keeps all the money she makes for herself.
her parents tried to convince her to come back but No Fuck You Guys. so they send her money and encouraging letters to try and get her to come back. she reads the letters, takes the money, and doesn't take their words to heart. what an asshole
and yeah then the next year she went to hope's peak and she died without ever settling this bullshit. whoo.
anyway back to actual facts. like i said earlier reika's paranoid by nature - she's never really trusted anyone for real. the thing is that she would've eventually learnt to trust people (to an extent) if she led a normal high school life but nope she got into mutual killing and her paranoia got 500x worse
she's a self-centered prick if that wasn't obvious enough. she is that person who will ditch you on an outing because she just so happened to not feel like getting up that morning
she doesn't buy things for people. ever. EVER she doesn't spend money on ANYONE and she will let people pay for her with no guilt
she's very obsessed with going to supermarkets solely only when there are sales on and she keeps track of different supermarket sale times
but tbh she actually. is usually too lazy to cook for herself. and she's so frugal to the extent that she doesn't fucking eat properly. she usually snacks by like eating a couple of spoons of nutella for a meal and like. that's it. she doesn't eat enough at all, her hunger pangs have kind of been switched off
she's underweight and will probably break her bones really easily so don't make her fall ever
she also hates the outdoors and physical activity in general which is why she's so pale she's pretty much a vampire who stays indoors all of the time
though she's incredibly competitive and will participate during PE solely because S H E M U S T W I N and she's a really sore fucking loser who will grumble like HELL when she loses (this even shows in bgo)
she skips school a lot so that she can get more tutoring sessions in. in fact she barely makes minimum attendance because why the fuck does she even need to attend classes she might as well earn $$$ instead fuck school
not like anyone didn't know this but she's a grump and is grouchy pretty much all of the time. she snaps at people pretty easily, but this usually that bad during tutoring - she's a lot more tame and patient during them. well, depending on the student and what suits them best.
she's also an asshole who will laugh at people's misery and will mock and insult people A Lot.
she doesn't help anyone with schoolwork ever unless they pay her. she occasionally offers to do people's homework... but at a cost. of course. reika ichikawa doesn't do anyone favours for free
she's smart in terms of academics but? she actually sucks ass at puzzles and games. the puzzles in the servers and all were like. no. to her. she fucking hated them. and yeah she also sucks at most games.
even tho she's hella frugal she actually has a soft spot for vidya games??? she owns a ds (thankfully a gift) and occasionally buys games but buying them makes her v v v v upset and grouchy for the rest of the day/week
she's also actually an ""ex shounen weeb"" who used to watch anime and manga like fairy tail and soul eater a lot. but now she has Ascended. she only reads Josei because Haha, Shoujo and Shounen are Trash! the main point is don't be surprised if she knows about maid cafes and just about everything in akihabara. she used to have "waifus". dark days, i tell you, dark days.
oh yeah i guess i should say that she's a tokyo city kid.
she hates anything related to romance with a passion. at least cheesy romance. flirting? stop it. stop it you fucking trash UGH STOP IT it's so GROSS she will cringe at you or hit you or shout at you not even in a tsun way she just fucking hates it. she hates couples being intimate or cutesy with each other in public. if she ever shows affection it's always, /ALWAYS/ in private and wow she just hates public displays of intimacy. couples in public should burn
