“My condition? My mouth hurts. Did I get in a fight, Tokage-chan?” She gasps, even though her whole demeaner is sleepy. “Did I fight you? I’m so sorry..”

She shifts, moving to grip either side of the ladder with her hands. Once in place, she stops, braces herself, and nods up at him, hoping she’ll be strong enough to keep the ladder from tipping.

He slowly starts untangling his right foot from the ladder rungs, knowing full well that one wrong move would mean a bloody face. He carefully gets it free as an earbud falls out of his ear. He slowly pulls out his other leg, his muscles tensing- so much that he pulls his leg out sharply and the momentum propels his legs into the door. In that same moment, he ends up letting go of the doorframe, dropping him 4 feet onto the floor, knocking the wind out of him.
