Huh... What? | Tayuta | Prologue | RE: Arata

“Whoa,” the moment he’d flicked the switch, she was nearly blinded by all the bright colours flashing before her. It was a strange feeling to say the least, with how her eyes tried to adjust to the lights, all while Arata messed with the settings. Once left to her own devices, she could turn the brightness down now that she knew where the controls were, but at the same time, it was kind of trippy when it was this brilliant, and she wanted to savour the feeling for a little longer.
“I can see fine,” she lied. Well, at least her eyes had stopped hurting at this point. She still couldn’t really see through the lights though. Not that it was going to stop her from trying to move around. After a few unsteady steps, she started to gain some confidence in herself, “these aren’t so bad.” No sooner had she said that, then did she take a wrong step. “Oh, shi-!!!” She flailed her arms as she fell backwards, landing straight onto her rear. The visors wobbled precariously on her head, but thankfully remained there.
Well, she wasn’t having a seizure. That was good. She’d fallen over, sure, but she was fine. Arata laughed under his breath, laid back and casual, and held out a hand to help her back up. He was silently grateful that the visor had stayed on her face instead of flying off like a projectile, but chose not to vocalize that sentiment,
“Hey, you alright, Li’l Sis? Maybe that’s better left to the professionals, huh? It’s, like, seriously advanced equipment, y’know?” It was obvious from his tone that he was joking about how much skill was required to wear them. If he could do it, anyone could, really. But it helped that his eyes always looked half-open from fatigue, and he only seemed to be partially aware at the best of times. “Can I have those back now? People are gonna start mistakin’ you for me, huh? S’all good, s’all good... I don’t mind letting people borrow ‘em, but, y’know, that’s totally a ‘borrow’ thing, right? Maybe you should get a set for yourself, right? And yours can be green, so we flip colours, huh? You ever preform?”
