Those You've Lost - Masami - ATTN: Laia
Masami had absolutely no idea how to feel. His emotions were something of a mess, shifting and twisting between relief, guilt, and a sort of strange sadness – one that sat in the pit of his stomach, lurking and constant – but never bursting, never showing itself for too long.
Tsubame Mizushima did not deserve forgiveness. That, at the very least, was clear to him. Murdering for a new future, to change the world, to make them relevant- bullshit. To Masami, she was nothing but a killer, nothing but a villain. To try to look into shades of greys seemed useless. A person who killed could very well be helpless, someone to save, but Tsubame was nothing of the sort. It had been Masami’s intention since the day he had arrived here to defeat the ones behind the game of mutual killing. Now that they’d managed to get out, it would be unnecessary to feel anything other than grateful about his escape- and anything other than anger to the one behind it.
(The fact Masami, despite his best efforts, had done little to nothing to help his fellow students was something he recognised.)
(It wasn’t something he wanted to think about.)
He said nothing as Tsubame got executed, merely blinking in some sort of shock as the ama diver died. How strange- despite being the one here to kill them, she also had a routine over-the-top way to die.
Her motives were strange and near unbelievable to Masami. To say that he was outdated and unwanted even in the world of sales? It simply wasn’t possible! He had dominated there, he was somebody to look out for, his family was proud of him- he couldn’t be irrelevant! The one thing he was good at being taken away from him? Please. It simply couldn’t be real.
The possibility of anything else was denied immediately by him.

The moment he had arrived on this area of safety, Masami knew he had to see Laia. He had managed to take care of Julius since she had left, managed to keep him alive and (somewhat) happy. He absolutely needed to see her- even if just to tell her Julius was safe.
Admittedly, the idea of finding her horrified her. She was, after all, nothing but a hologram. She wasn’t real. But- in a way she was! Perhaps her body might be dead, but her soul, in a way, managed to live on. That lingering thought was the only thing that managed to keep him going.
So with a half-fake smile and uneasy steps, Masami set off to find his dear friend.
And the moment he did- he froze. She wasn’t too close by, her body facing the back, probably unsure that he was even there. This entire thing felt surreal… but he couldn’t help it.
"LAIA!"
Not Alexis- Laia. He would’ve ran, but with Julius in his hands (just prented hes thero ok-_-), he instead settled for quick steps.
"He- Hello. Hi. Hi! Hi…."
His tone was unsure and hasty- but more than definitely excited. He was talking to someone he cared about extremely. Someone he had lost.
He trusted himself to at least try and make the most of it.
Laia's body ached.
...
......
Nothing else special.
Really, she died and that was all she remembered. Death was all that was left on her mind. She never even bothered to remember the rest or to even try to piece things together because they didn't matter in her mind. It was useless. Ha! Useless...Her sister must be angry. She was probably furious and wanted to smack Laia in the head because of letting herself die so easily. So easily? Was it? Laia...huh, she didn't remember either.
It's alright, she reminded herself. Alive. Not really? What was she right now? Too many questions. Too tired. Too exhausted to remember...
Ah.
The novella writer looked back, hearing a voice. (Why would anyone talk to her?)
What? Who was he? Did she know him? (Stop acting so mysterious!) No, she did, but...she wasn't sure how to react...How should she react? Is she wasn't Alexis, what would she do?
"...Yeah---?"
What was that?! What?! That was a horrible thing to do! She had to redo! Laia shook her head before rubbing her eyes, trying to get herself into the 'Laia Zone'.
"Oh hey, it's you. Ma-sa-mi? Hehe, don't worry, I was kidding with ya, bro! No need to act so panicky, querida---!"
Wait....hold up is that...HOLY SHIT!
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! JULIUS! JULIUS, YOU ARE OKAY MY LOVE MY LIGHT MY ANGEL!! I LOVE YOU BABY! I MISSED YOU BABY! COME HERE! COME....AAAAAAAH---!"
Laia froze in place while bringing her hands to her chest. Oh how she missed him! Oh how he smelt like the last time they had been together! Oh how he looked, how he...felt....
God, she was crying already. She was so happy. She was so...
"Haha...Masami...holy shit man, I love you! No hetero though but...I missed him...I missed him so so much I thought he was gone...Hahaha...Fuck! Fuck! Come and hug me, bro! Don't just stand there, ahaha!"
What was she saying? What...no, she was dead, wasn't she? She couldn't do that...she couldn't hold them both...she could do nothing but stand there...and...do nothing...stay dead...
"Oh...Hah....Sorry...---"
