Hindsight Is 20/20 | Miyako | [Body Reaction + School Trial 001] | [RE: Masato/Mastermind Vote] [ATTN: Tsubaki/Last Fukui Standing]
When the beep of her keycards had come, all Miyako could do was steel herself.
Indeed, even as she walked, she wasā¦lost in thought. These last few days, quite a few people had offered theirā¦condolences, to her. That she had lost so much, praising her for staying herself, for stayingā¦strong.
And yet it had always confused her when that happened, and she wasnāt sure why.
ā¦Well, she knew why now. Because, Miyako was beginning to realise, all of this was hardlyĀ newĀ to her, was it? She had lost before, she was losing in the present, and she would lose again. That was just herĀ life, to lose those closest to her, slip into darkness, and then crawl right back out again, because sheĀ hadĀ to. It wasnāt anything extraordinary, for her. Sheād had it all happen before, so it hadĀ confusedĀ her, how people were telling her she was kind and good and strong, for justĀ being.
And being for her was an endless vicious cycle, of loss and depression and rebirth, because itĀ neededĀ to be done.
First, it was Papa. Then, it was Yumiko-chan. After that, it had been Harue-san.
(She hoped whoever was next wouldnāt meet their end by barstools or beatings or kamishibai boards. She didnāt needĀ thoseĀ reminders.)
ā¦At any rate, she arrived at the crime scene.
She hadnāt known the food blogger, the newest victimā and she couldnāt help wonder if anyoneĀ elseĀ had, and perhaps that was why they were chosen, because people didn'tĀ careĀ andĀ goddamn it human lives wereĀ notĀ popularity contests you canāt treat people that wayā but she couldnāt help but lament his fate.
Thatā¦That was justĀ awful. The poor boyā¦
ā¦It only became even worse as she and Fukui-san (notably without her usual morbid cheer, for the most part) pulled himĀ outĀ of the TV.
āā¦Rest in peace, Kurosawa-sanā¦ā
(If that was evenĀ possible.)
ā¦The public evidence was found quickly, and the trial began with a note from the holographic Maeda-san, asking for aā¦mastermind trialā¦?
Well, that would certainly be needed atĀ someĀ point, but it would be good if they could at leastā Fukui-san didnāt seem to be very fond of the idea, andāĀ wait, did Maeda-san just say Fukui-sanās talent wasĀ precognition?āĀ alright, nowā
ā¦Fukui-san. The morbid, sanguine, always light-aired Fukui Tsubaki-san. ā¦Was yelling. And cursing. And looked like she was about to cry.
ā¦GoodĀ Lord, did Miyako just want to climb back into bed right now.
āā¦Wait. M-Maeda-san. Everyone. I agree that a mastermind vote would be a good idea, at this point, butā¦before weĀ totallyĀ agree, could we at leastĀ discussĀ Kurosawa-sanās case aĀ little? I understand what the rules are, and I suppose finding the Masterminds will be justice for Kurosawa-san in a wayĀ anyway, butā¦Iād like to atĀ leastĀ have some theory over what happened to him. Itā¦It doesnāt feelĀ rightĀ to justā¦leave his case like it doesnāt matter.ā
Whatever happened would happen, but for the present, Miyako had a more concerning matter.
She headed for her podium, where Kin-san also was, and knelt down beside the girl.
If Fukui-san just wanted her to go away, then she was fine with that. But whatever the others may think of her and her outlook, Tsubaki was herĀ friend. Sheā¦SheĀ owedĀ it to her, to help her.
And besides, she had something overdue to give her.
āā¦Fukui-san.Ā Tsubaki-san. You donātā¦You donāt mind if I just talk to you for a minute, do you?ā
A little awkwardly, the midwife continued on, anyway, looking at the mystery girl with soft eyes.
āā¦Iām sorry, Tsubaki-san. Iām sorry that your efforts are going to waste, because you don'tĀ deserveĀ that. You deserve to have your ideas at leastĀ considered. Andā¦if we still have time,Ā I'llĀ listen to what you have to say, okay? Even if nobody else does, I will.
Andā¦youāre myĀ friend, Tsubaki-san. Iām really grateful to have you around. Youā¦Youāve made me feel a lot better, at times. A lotā¦happier, and since youāve seen what an utterĀ sad sackĀ Iāve been, lately, wellā¦you can understand why that would mean a lot to me, hm? Youāre myā¦witchy sister, yes? And Iāll listen to what you have to say. IĀ believeĀ in you.
And, ahā¦itās not the best time, I know, but I have something to give to you. I meant to give it earlier, but time, timeā¦ā
Fumbling around in her pockets, she took out something somewhat small, that looked rather like aā¦brooch.
#037 { Moon Brooch } - What a strange and lovely pendant! Made lovingly, with extreme detail, the brooch created in the image of a moon has the character āęā, or moon (read as tsukii) inscribed in the back. Itās really quite lovely. Someone must be missing this.
āā¦I got it from the Monomachine some time ago. I didnāt know who to give it to, really, but I thought it might look rather nice on you. Of course, if you donāt want it, youāre at liberty to throw it away and tell me to justā justĀ piss off, butā¦I wanted to give it to you. As aā¦thank-you gift.
ā¦Thank you, Tsubaki-san. Iām here when you need me, alright?ā
Maybe this was a little muchā but she truly did care about Tsubaki, her spooky, supernatural sister.
And if there wasnāt much time left, this was one way to show it, right?
