Cops and Robbers||Artie||Trial 2||RE: Kuroi, Ayano sort of, Rini, Mia
In a normal situation, the boy would be in a fantastic mood: Artie was well rested, feeling so much better and in decent condition overall. The last night, he hadn’t slept so well, but that was fine. The last thing he wanted to do was sleep, honestly. Since he had slept, the photojournalist had to find two of his friends dead and another, who he felt closest too, accused. He was not in a happy mood. Not at all…
Before trial start, the boy sought out a blanket covered Kuroi and offered her a worried expression. “Y-ya ok? Sorry I didn’ check on ya fore. I know ya can handle yer own, but I was worried when the brunette with glasses went at ya like tha’. I just….wanted ta clear yer name soon as I saw it, so I hit the floor runnin’. Ain’t no use just standin’ round useless this time…" He told her all this, all the while, his cheeks flush red.
After a short talk with her, Artie exchanged final words with Kuroi before moving on ahead with Mia and Arashi to discuss things one final time. He looked at Kuroi with a worried expression even then; she was one of his closer companions in this place right now, even if they still had plenty to learn of each other, after all. How could he NOT worry?
As Artie reached for the podium, the boy let out a sigh before saying anything. He then let out another, shaking his arms out at his sides. He seemed to be counting to himself quietly; a calming mechanism, of sorts. With this, he wasn’t mad at Mia anymore for earlier, but he was still a little peeved off at what he’d witnessed between Ayano and Kuroi earlier. What could he say? That was his friend! Ayano had attacked someone he was constantly worried over! Someone who checked on him, even when he didn’t even ask her to. It was time to return the favor and do what he could to clear her name.
He turned to Ayano first, taking a final deep breath so he wouldn’t yell at her.
“Listen, I don’t know ya yet, missy, but we’re not goin’ ta pull what ya did ‘fore trial, righ’? Because Kuroi here’s my friend. I woulda stopped ya in yer tracks, but I had ta do everythin’ ta clear her name. An’ honestly, I don’ wanna fight with more folks round here. It ain’t gentlemanly like a me. Anyhow, sorry for startin’ with ya righ’ off tha bat. I jus…wanna make sure is all.”
Maybe that wasn’t the best place to start? Oh well. Maybe he should also do introductions. Most of these folks didn’t know him, right? Who could say.
“S'pose I should introduce m'self seein as how I slept through one a my friend’s trials. The name’s Artie Artino. I’m a photojournalist an’ a…I took some pictures this trial. If any of y'all wanna look at anythin’ from the crime scene in detail, come ta me, alrigh’? I’ll be happy ta oblige, seein’ as how it’s what I’m best at. I’m only sorry I was out of my wits, both physically an otherwise last time, but I fear I wouldn’t ta been much help last trial anyway. I was mighty sick.“
Well, that was a good wrap up of his name, right? Of the minor details? He took another sigh, trying his best to remain calm. He took a small, worried glance Kuroi’s way before turning to Rini and continuing.
“…Rini, was it? I wanna believe tha’ it makes y'all less suspicious, b-bu’ we found 3 cups washed from recent use in tha sink. Who’s ta say 2 of ya didn’ sneak off durin’ a prolonged bathroom break? I wanna believe y'all, I do. I mean, we’re both tryin’ ta clear names an all, but let’s not cross tha’ off as a definite thing, ya know? N-not that I’m accusin’ anyone of anythin’. We ain’t got facts enough for that much, after all.”
Well, he was trying to be fair, all things considered. His hands seemed to shake if you looked really close to them. He gripped very tightly onto the podium, a result of some anger he felt towards some others, but he chose not to push it. He’d pushed it enough already and, being angry or rude towards anyone after his earlier episode with Mia wasn’t going to fly when he had bigger fish to fry. He turned to Mia for a moment, his expression a bit more serious now.
“Ya brought tha shirt, righ’? Did ya pass it round fer others ta try yet? I reckon we oughta nip that in the bud righ’ away, don’t you?“
