Was binging your yansim masterlist and saw the marrying into the family one...
She tries to establish a strong bond between you and her mother especially. Because she knows if you ever manage to escape, Ryoba will be the one to drag you back by the hair, should Ayano be absent
And I was wondering if you would maybe expand on reader escaping and managing to avoid Ayano but didn't count for her mother to bring reader back to her daughter 👀
Ohhhhh that's the good stuff anon 👀
Soooo, let's say Ayano is out of town. Maybe she's visiting her relatives in America, maybe she's trying to throw the police off her trail. Regardless, she leaves you all by yourself. And being as desperate as you are, you make a run for it.
... Except you didn't account for one itsy bitsy tiny detail. Your mother in law, Ryoba.
Ryoba is one of those parents who are super invested in their child's love life because in the case of the Aishi family, securing your soulmate is the ultimate goal and ever since you've married into the family, Ayano has been happier than ever.
Don't get me wrong, she does genuinely care for you and dotes on you, but protecting the Aishi tradition takes priority. Because even without Ayano asking her, Ryoba has been keeping an eye on you. And she knows from experience that you might make an escape attempt while her daughter's away.
She doesn't pounce on you immediately, no. She stalks you through alleyways, watching you string a suitcase along, antsy and panicked, glancing over your shoulder every few seconds. You don't know it yet, but you have a very good reason to be afraid.
Only when you stop to catch your breath does she get the jump on you. She appears behind you, lifting a knife to your neck and a hand to your mouth. Her smile doesn't falter, and her voice remains as serene and motherly as ever.
"Hush, my dear. I expected better from you. We expected better from you. I can't have you breaking my daughter's heart now, can I?"
Sobbing and trembling, she drags you back to the Aishi house. She only locks you up somewhere and leaves you with a word of caution. She figures her job is done and that it's not up to her to punish you.
She waits for Ayano to return home before informing her of your escape attempt and leaves the rest to her.
"Couples must learn to solve their quarrels. You'll see; your bond will be strengthened after that."
Yeah, she treats the whole situation like a petty argument between you and Ayano. Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "my mother in law is a nightmare" lmfao
I hate yandev's claims that once an Aishi secures her soulmate she becomes distant from her family. Japanese families are historically tight-knit and it provides a really good opportunity to play it up for horror. Like, you have a murderous girl obsessed with you AND you also have to deal with her equally murderous family
