“You have rats?” Lydia said, wincing a bit, “Okay so…crazy thought.” She sighed, looking Allison in the eyes. “What would you say if I told you I might try to…win Theo over?” 

“Yes. I have rats. They’re my th– they’re my pets.” Allison frowned, carefully making sure the two of them were secure in their carrier. Staring at the other girl, she shook her head. “I’d say that considering you just told me I shouldn’t be living with him that that idea is crazy.”

"Yeah, I agree...probably is." She shrugged, adjusting her sleeves, "I sort of told Malia that I was planning on doing it...I was in a bad mood. I don't think I would actually do that, right?"

“We kind of had a run in with La Bête…” Lydia said, nodding, “Allison didn’t tell you?” She asked before realizing Allison might not even know, unless Theo mentioned it.

“But…. ‘ow is that possible?! And… why would Allison know?” Marie shook her head, both terrified and confused. “La Bête is long dead.”

"Long story..." Lydia said, shaking her head "Nevermind, don't worry about it." She smiled, looking at Marie, "Want something to drink?"

“So I’ll take 81, then.” Lydia teased as they approached the coffee shop. “And here we are, your kingdom.” Lydia opened the door and stepped inside, looking around before getting in line. 

Stiles raised his eyebrow at her, “I’m sure there’s nicer ways to die.” With that, he also walked inside and looked disappointed. “Okay, my favorites aren’t here. Sad times.” He still walked up to the counter, greeting who was working that day and just walked around. “So you said you wanted a cappuccino, right?”

"Tell me one better way," she said, tapping her fingers on the counter, "then you can put caffeine addict on my grave, it's perfect." She laughed a bit, smiling "Yes, please."

“Pleasure to meet you, Lydia.” The blond said with a smile as he stepped inside and looked around at the mass of boxes. “I’m Jace. And I’m happy to inform you it looks like there is no possible way you could have left anything at home.”

“Tell me about it,” She said after having seen basically everyone from her hometown here, “But hello, Jace, that’s a cute name. I like it.” Lydia said with a slight laugh, beginning to unpack a box.

“Heh, thanks.” Jace said with a small smile as he walked over to the jumble of boxes. “So. How can’t I help you, pretty red head?”

“How can’t you help me? By distracting me.” She said, looking up at him, and then smirking a bit. She walked over to him, felt his muscles gently and then replied, “Yep, you’re for sure strong enough to carry these boxes into the bedroom.”

Lydia noticed the boy staring at her and quickly turned her attention, “Need something, love?” She winked, using her charming nature to her advantage. She wasn’t looking for love again, but flirting was a good distraction from her life.

Finn’s brows furrowed as she spoke, thinking for a moment before he shook his head. “Uh.. no, I don’t think so. Do you?”

“I wasn’t the one staring,” She said with a smirk, “But then again, can I really blame you?” She said, gesturing to herself.

“Allison, really, it’s alright,” She said, giving her best friend a warm smile, “We managed.” She put her hand on Allison’s shoulder, trying to comfort her. “Really, you’re fine rooming with him? He’s done a lot, Allison…” Everyone in this town is too forgiving.

“I’m not fine with it, and I would never forgive him for doing anything to Scott, but… that apartment has been my home for almost six months, I’m not going to be frightened out of it by him. I don’t want to be like my parents.” She’d spent too many days and weeks hiding in her room, too scared to come out of it to just up and leave it. “Plus, my pets know the layout and– Artemis! There you are!” Allison suddenly leapt up, seeing the rat poking his nose out from the hallway, and going over to pick him up, cradling him in her arms. “… Sorry. Said pet decided to be an amateur Houdini.” She smiled, shyly.

Lydia walked into a bar, the only place in town she could possibly find selling alcohol. After the day she’d had, she needed a drink…but they’d probably ID her. What unsuspecting victim would buy her one… She eyed the bar, looking for someone who seemed “of age”.

Scott had been heading home when he saw someone he recognised heading into a bar. Following, he was confused when he saw who it was.

“Lydia? Is this really time to be out… drinking?”

“Isn’t it always?” She sighed, breathing in deeply, “Look, I’ve had a rough day, and I’m not looking for a lecture, /Alpha/.” She asked the bartender for another drink.

“I forgot you were in coyote form for most of your teenage years…” Lydia said, shaking her head, “I don’t think that’s going to work, plus the girl just happens to be Erica which is baffling. So, if he’s going to be with someone who threatened and tried to kill us, then I will too.” She said, sighing, “And that’s where Theo comes in.”

“Are you crazy?” She asked looking at her this time serious “He did awful things to us and if Stiles is doing that why are you going to copy him? Sure, I was a coyote for almost my entire life but that doesn’t matter to know that this is crazy and I’m sure that I’m not the only one that is going to think that. If you love Stiles, you shouldn’t do that, is just so messed up and wrong and makes no sense”

“Well, that’s just it.” Lydia said, pursing her lips, “I guess I’m a little messed up, wrong, and senseless.” She huffed, looking at Malia, “If Stiles gets to forgive someone, then why don’t I?” She shrugged, “It seems only fair.”

“La Bête du Gévaudan…” Lydia mumbled, her lips pursing. “Nevermind, uh, no. Allison hasn’t spoken about you.” Lydia nodded, trying to pretend she didn’t know this girl. “I’m Lydia.” She offered her hand as a greeting.

It had been a while since she’d heard that name. The story of La Bête circulating the town, she’d never thought it would get any further. “She ‘as mentioned a Lydia when telling me about ‘erself. Please… ‘ow do you know the story of La Bête?”

Lydia laughed at the boy’s polite question, “Keep them on, of course.” She walked over and grabbed a knife, beginning to cut the pie. “I guess, I mean, everyone from my old town oddly came here as well, so I’m not really getting the fresh start I wanted.”

“That must be strange. I haven’t encountered many people from where I lived previously but I wouldn’t mind it. Well, maybe there are a few I wouldn’t entirely be ecstatic to see again, but, yeah. Sorry, rambling - I do that a lot. Apart from that, are you liking it so far?”

“Yeah, it’s really nice,” She said smiling, “And the people are mostly nice...” She winced, remembering her situation with Erica. “But at least I found my previously dead best friend.”

“A Darach is some weird demon-like thing. I don’t even want to get into it.” Lydia shrugged, looking surprised by the girl, “I have a million more stories, but it seems like both our lives are pretty interesting…” Lydia took another sip of her drink, “So, you must have a lot of PTSD.”

‘ okay. some demon looking thing. that gives me a lot to work with so, i think i’m good. ‘      nodding her head at the comment, ash let out a small laugh.       ‘ oh boy you have no idea. half a year of therapy, alcohol abuse, and drugs. i was pretty messed up. a bunch more happened that night but i wasn’t around for most of it. my friends went through some pretty intense stuff. sounds like you’ve also had it pretty bad and i don’t blame you if you’re a little messed up as well. ‘

“I guess the mental hospital was supposed to be therapy...but it was a mental hospital for supernaturals...” She shrugged, “I’m alright, I have to be strong because I’m probably not done with having crazy experiences.”

“Did he die?…” She asked, curious about this girl’s life. “Hm. Ooo, good one, my teacher, who ended up being a psychopathic darach, tied me up and tried to strangle me with a garrote which basically lets a small string dig into the victim’s neck as the attacker tightens it until they can’t breathe.” 

‘ no he didn’t. it was fake. the whole thing. he use the insides of a pig in the dummy to make it look real and used red paint as blood. but i didn’t know that it was paint and spent the whole night covered in it. what’s a darach? ‘    ashley asked as she took another sup of her water, trying to think about another situation.       ‘ okay, so my friend that we pulled a prank on a year before, went missing. i honestly hate saying that. turns out she and her twin sister feel off a cliff and, well, her sister died but the other friend lived for however long after that. the police couldn’t find them and it turns out that said friend ate her sister and turned into this wendigo creature and was terrorizing us the whole night that my boyfriend was pranking us, a year later from the original prank on his sister. we didn’t know there were there though, the wendigos. i didn’t run into any until dawn when we killed a bunch by blowing up the cabin. ‘

“What were you angry over?” Lydia said, prying into the girl’s personal life. She assumed that a sweet girl would be willing to confess, and maybe if she focused on someone else’s problems, she’d forget about her own.

‘ eomeoni. ‘    hyun-ji mutter as she picked up her glass and dumped the small amount of liquid down her throat. her eyes widened a little as she looked back up at the other before shaking her head.     ‘ i’m sorry. i mean mother. she’s been calling me all day and complaining about random things. she called a bunch while i was in class. ‘

Ah, the simple problems of normal people. Lydia couldn’t help but laugh a bit of this, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to laugh. Mother’s can be annoying, but they care a lot.” Lydia smiled, “How old are you, by the way?”

“Fine, you want to know so badly?” Lydia scoffed, crossing her arms, “The night Stiles disappeared, he told me he loved me…” She looked down for a moment, “And when I saw him today…well long story short he doesn’t feel that way anymore, but I do.”

“I wouldn’t say so badly, I mean, I just asked once” She says because after all, it was true, she didn’t insist, she asked once and she was telling her “Uhm, I don’t know what to say. Sorry, my only  boyfriend was Stiles, I don’t know so much about boys but maybe you can try and win him over? I mean, if you really love him. That’s not what people do?”

Lydia’s eyes widened a bit at this, “And you’re still here?” She shrugged, “I was in a mental asylum for months where they practiced drilling into my skull.” She shivered, remembering those days.

‘ it wasn’t here, it was back home in canada. i mean, i understand why he did it but it wasn’t the worst thing that happened that night. how does that even heal? okay uh, oh! i was chained to a board next to said boyfriend while my once crush had to pick between us: the girl he liked or his best friend. another giant saw blade was going to cut one of us in half but turns out, no matter who he picked, my now boyfriend was going to get cut in half. honestly, it was pretty gross but this happened before the gun thing. ‘
