I love this for multiple reasons: Sharon is just as protective of Steve as he is of her and she’s a complete badass while doing it reduced as a love interest my ass, it hints at the residual psychological scars of vol. 5 so yay continuity and also, long-suffering Nick and Sam. ;)

Another father left to fret and worry about his daughter. Another mother awake at night, waiting for the morning post for any news.

“Like hell I will! You all act like I am so old and fragile. Well, I still got some pep in this old body. Enough to deal with the too busy Captain America.”

Her poor father, may his soul rest in peace, died thinking that she had perished doing the same job as his sister. Part of her was certain that her parents both died of broken hearts, of the grief that came with the loss of a child. “I wish he saw the good that I have done.” She glanced towards her aunt. “...It also maybe due to the fact that I have been avoiding him,” she finally admitted. “Despite his best efforts to track me down when we’re in the same building.”

He looked over his shoulder at her as he secured his helmet. “I may have a stop to make beforehand.” He gunned the engine of the motorcycle, taking off into the traffic with an expert ease on a motorcycle. He stopped in front of a little pizza shop, taking his helmet off. The pizza shop was still so similar to how it had been when he was a kid. He appreciated it and wanted to share it with her. “I thought you wouldn’t mind a stop off at a place to eat.”

Fingers pried the helmet from over her head, shaking out the blonde curls as her gaze fell upon the little pizza shop they had stopped in front of. If there was one thing she could say about Steve, he knew how to spoil a girl -- even if it was the smallest of things, it was nice that he put thought into doing something every now and then. Sharon smiled, nodding. “I think we can stop for a bite to eat,” she commented. “Gives us more time together.”
