✦ Chapter 9: I dream of you with a ship ✦
You were familiar with it now—Luffy’s bed. It was plush and large, the covers were a deep red color, and the room smelled comforting and musky, just like Luffy himself.
The sheets were heavy and cool when you first slipped into them, but that didn’t last long, because Luffy was like a furnace. Many months in the future, you’d accept that your bed needed lighter sheets and less layers, because he radiated heat. But this first night together, his warmth was something new to you. You hadn’t gotten used to it yet.
It was easy and natural, this new dynamic. It had been brewing under the surface for months, but now that it was actually happening, it was more seamless than you could have imagined.
“You feeling okay?” Luffy asked, sliding into the covers from the opposite side of the bed. “How are you doing after today?”
“I feel fine, Luffy. A bit nervous about tomorrow, but fine. Thank you for caring about me so much,” you sheepishly smiled.
“Of course,” he responded, then paused. “Can we get closer?”
You hummed out an “mhm,” and he wasted no time pulling you close to him, which made your heart soar.
“I’m glad you’re feeling okay, I was worried about you,” he murmured. His hands found their way to your waist. He pulled you in, pressing his body along yours from behind.
“You smell nice…” he whispered. “Your skin is nice. Your hair is nice. You’re nice. Makes me feel all weird inside.”
“Good weird or bad weird?” You said breathlessly, trying to soak in this moment of closeness that you had wished for, for so long.
“Good weird,” Luffy said. “Always good with you.”
When he kissed your neck, you sort of twitched in surprise, caught off guard by how forward he was being, but elated, nonetheless.
“Can I tell you something?” His voice lowered so it was almost inaudible. “I want to touch you, but I’m worried that I’ll push you away.”
“Don’t worry, Luffy,” you said, turning clumsily in the covers to face him. Your faces had never been this close before—centimeters separated your noses. You could feel his warm breath and see his eyes in the dim, muted moonlight that filtered through the curtains of his bedroom.
Luffy brought his lips to yours. He kissed you once, then twice, and then he didn’t stop. You felt connected to him, like you could physically sense the waves of energy and emotion coursing through him; his chest rose and fell a bit faster, his lips pressed harder, his fingers on your skin squeezed tighter.
He was shirtless, muscles tight and toned, arms flexed as he held himself back from ravaging you. He wanted to savor this moment. This was a moment that he had secretly thought about, a fantasy he tried not to dwell on, now fully realized.
Your fingers trailed from his collar bones to his chest, then abdomen. You ran your palms across his skin, and he shivered.
“Hey, that tickles,” he whispered.
You did it again and he laughed.
Once the giggling subsided, he asked, “Hey, can I tell you something?”
“Yeah, of course.”
“You’re so special to me.” He paused. “I’ve never felt this before. I never want to let you go.”
“Then don’t,” you said, smiling.
He peppered kisses across your cheeks and forehead. “Is it too soon to ask if we can get even closer?”
Now it was you who did the giggling. “It’s not too soon, Luffy.”
In moments, you both pulled off your respective clothing. You felt a wave of embarrassment at being so exposed before you looked him in the eyes and saw how much tenderness there was. This was intimate; everything you could have hoped.
His warms hands found their way to your chest, exploring and worshipping. They crept lower, between your thighs, treating you respectfully and intentionally. The whole time, he asked, “Are you okay with this?”
Maybe you shouldn’t have been this surprised that Luffy was so skilled with his fingers; they were warm, big, all the things you observed and wondered about before, but you hadn’t been bold enough to let yourself fantasize about (much). As they moved, you felt pleasure start to buzz from your center to your fingertips.
You reached clumsily for his erection, which was pressing on your leg. He inhaled sharply, freezing up for a moment.
“Fuck,” he gasped quietly as you moved your hand up and down. “Come here.”
Luffy flipped onto his back and pulled you on top of him, hands planted squarely on your ass for leverage. When you looked down at him, it was hard to see his face in the shadows, but his eyes caught the moonlight.
You held his gaze for a second. His eyes were bathed in longing, desire, and something else. You wondered, distantly, when, or if, he would say those three words. But it wasn’t before long that he started to move his hips, grinding almost animalistically into you, teasing you within an inch of reason.
Sounds started to trickle out of Luffy’s lips in increasing volume as he rutted into you. He found his angle just right and pushed up into you, making you gasp.
In the minutes that followed, Luffy brought you up and down, doing all the work, each movement bringing bursts of pleasure that made your vision go blurry.
Your legs started to shake from being on top, so he gently moved you. On your stomach now, his body pressed onto yours from above. He moved his hips rhythmically and slowly, letting out husky moans and the occasional whimper.
“Fuuuck.”
When Luffy started to kiss your shoulder, it dawned on you that he was making love to you. It was a level of softness and affection that you hadn’t experienced before. You weren’t aware of what you had been missing until this moment—you had an epiphany that this man really did cherish you like you were precious and special. He was showing you that with every caress and roll of his hips.
Minutes melted away like seconds as Luffy brought you closer to climax with every press of his hips in exactly the right direction.
When you finally reached the peak of pleasure, Luffy didn’t take much time to do the same. Afterwards, you laid next to each other in bed, cuddling, sticky and hot after so much exertion.
He kissed the top of your head again—just like he had in the courtyard after the confrontation. It made your heart flutter. You wondered if your heart would ever stop fluttering when receiving such earnest affection from him.
As you drifted off to sleep, he traced circles on your back and ran his fingers through your hair. It was the best sleep you had gotten in months, maybe years.
“Sleep well,” he whispered to you after you drifted off. “Big day tomorrow.” He kissed your cheek and then sunk into sleep as well.
---
Luffy woke you near the break of dawn.
“Hey, we’ve got to get going. Want to get ready and eat something before we see your parents?”
You groggily mumbled an assent and dragged yourself out of bed when you remembered what this fated day would hold. You thought of the day ahead with lots of hesitation; what if Luffy and his brothers’ attempt at liberating the country went wrong?
Shaking off your trepidation, you reminded yourself to take things one step at a time and, most importantly, have faith in the three men who you were certain could do anything if they put their minds to it.
You didn’t have any clothes to change into except the ones from yesterday, which were sufficiently soiled with the sort of sweat that only stress can conjure.
“Luffy, I don’t have any fresh clothes. I need to go grab some, and then we can eat breakfast. Sound good?”
He was pulling on his own pair of fresh robes and offhandedly offered you a solution. “Why don’t you just wear some of mine?”
“Yours? But they’re—uh, they’re special, aren’t they? I don’t think I’m allowed—”
He grinned. “Allowed? We’re toppling the kingdom today. It doesn’t matter. Pick any pair you like. They might not fit too well, but they’ll do. Unless you really don’t want to?”
“No, it’s okay. I’ll wear yours, if you’re sure.” You felt bashful at the thought that you’d be wearing his clothes, and his colors, of which only robes made for royalty were. But he had a point—there would be no royalty after today. The kingdom was headed away from the concept altogether.
At his closet, you found a pristine line of carefully hung, ruby-colored robes. They were flowy, in a few different cuts; as you passed your hand down the line of different clothing items, you thought about the fact that soon anyone could wear any colors they please.
Most of the time Luffy rocked his traditional garb, with bare chest and fabric wrapped around his waist. But upon examining his closet, he had a more diverse wardrobe than you thought. You picked what seemed like a whole bolt of fabric at random.
It had a high collar and a deep V-neck. The fit was relaxed and the sleeves were wide. The matching pair of pants had a drawstring feature instead of a belt. You’d definitely be able to make it work.
On closer inspection, you saw that the sleeves and neck were embroidered with the signature gold threads of the palace. Pure luxury. You’d never worn something like this before.
Furtively, you disrobed, hoping that Luffy wasn’t watching, still bashful after last night. You slipped into his clothes. The fabric felt as smooth as butter on your skin. In the mirror, you were shocked at how good you looked. The fabric complemented your skin, brought out your eyes, and made you feel bolder. You’d need this boost of courage to get you through this day, one of the most important days of your life.
“Ready?” Luffy asked, and you turned around to face him. His eyes transformed; a softness stole across them.
He felt like a frog was caught in his throat.
“Looks really good on you. Y’know what? It honestly makes me feel something to see you in—well, in those colors. Wanted to see this for a while.” He cracked a grin. “Will you come over here?”
When you were eye-to-eye with him, he couldn’t help pulling you into another kiss. All bets were off, apparently. This would be your dynamic from here on out. He couldn’t conceal his adoration anymore and neither would you.
You had no way of knowing, but you did suspect that this was Luffy’s first time being this close to someone. He had no reason to keep it to himself anymore, so he gave into it. This feeling—infatuation, reverence, respect, desire—whichever it was, burned like fire in the center of his sternum.
Luffy didn’t want to break his lips from yours, but he had to remind himself that you were on a time crunch. And as early in the morning as it was, it wasn’t early enough. You should have gotten started maybe an hour ago. But no matter, he figured, it’d still work out. It might just be a bit of a tight squeeze.
You packed your bags. You didn’t have much to take with you to Luffy’s ship, your new home.
A couple shabby sets of robes—you know that you’d probably end up just wearing Luffy’s. Notebooks. A scarf. There were odds and ends that you didn’t necessarily need, but you knew well that having some material things around that you associate with comfort and stability can be especially helpful and grounding in times of change. On Luffy’s ship, when you would look at these meager possessions, you’d at least know that some of home—wherever that was—was with you.
Soon, you were out the door.
---
Ace stood on top of one of the parapets of the palace, eyes downcast. He had been waiting for a while, antsy and nervous about when Luffy was going to send the first signal to get the ball rolling.
He hadn’t intentionally timed it this way, but he happened to observe you and Luffy as you stole out of the castle gates, hand in hand.
No one was there to see him let out a deep breath and bite his lip in regret. No one was there to watch him lean on the low, cobbled wall and rest his chin on the palm of his hand, with his eyes trailing the last remnants of your shadow as your figure disappeared behind a wall.
His stomach sank thinking about how he might have had a chance with you if he wasn’t such a piece of shit. But even the narrative that he was giving himself—that he was scum—was met with a voice in his head, your voice, claiming the opposite. Part of him felt like you saw through his scummy exterior, through his lust and inappropriate conduct. Part of him decided to hope that he could be a better person because there was someone out there who he wronged that knew he could do better.
A deep breath.
In.
Out.
He turned away from the parapet and began to pace.
---
Saying goodbye to your family was hard.
You were escorted by none other than Luffy himself, wearing robes that matched yours. The citizens outside stared so hard at you two that could feel their gaze boring into you.
When you entered your family’s house for the first time in months, you were taken aback by the realization that everything was exactly the same, but something felt different.
The contrast between yourself and your surroundings was stark. Everything was exactly as it was the day you left; what had changed was you. Irreversibly and profoundly, getting closer to Luffy and his brothers had changed you. For good.
The goodbye was tearful and hard. It was for the best, you thought. You had Luffy’s word that his allies would always protect them. The kingdom would be better off soon, and so would your family.
Their business, ship making, would soon resume with the ports and borders opening. There was a bright day on the horizon.
Leaving your family’s residence, you closed the door quietly and turned to gaze at the sun rising over the horizon.
A new day. An important day for the kingdom and for the rest of your life.
“You ready?” Luffy asked, slipping a hand around your waist from behind you, coming to encircle you with his arms, to take a deep breath of your hair. You wiped some tears off your cheek.
Was this grief for the life you were leaving behind?
When Luffy met your family, he had been all smiles, seemingly unbothered by the monstrous load of things he had to oversee, potential battles to fight, and his own father to depose—all in one day. Today.
Your family loved him, obviously, once the star-struck looks faded from their faces. They gathered around him and asked a series of prying and serious questions about the nature of your relationship. Luffy had no problems charming them and putting them at ease. Your family looked at you, mystified by how you pulled this off.
“You have my word, she’s safe with me. She always will be. And we’ll be back. We return frequently. And my crew can’t wait to meet her.”
Seeing him outside the bounds of his own palace chambers was interesting. This was your first time watching him interact with, well, normal people. He did it with such ease. You wondered, do his brothers do this the same way?
Luffy slipped his hand into yours, dragging you back to the present moment.
“Let’s get a move on,” he hummed into your ear. Goosebumps crept across your skin. His voice, husky and low, reminded you of the night before.
---
When you reached the port, Luffy’s ship was waiting. It was huge and glorious, colorful and sturdy. He introduced you to each member of the crew. It was hard to get all of their names down at first, but his consistent babbling about them for the past few months had primed you.
Zoro and Sanji. Robin and Nami. Usopp, Franky, Chopper, Brook, and Jimbei. They smiled warmly, hugged you like you had been friends for years, and showed you to your cabin. This would become home.
Soon, Luffy had to say goodbye. He swiftly kissed you on the cheek and deboarded, heading back to the palace. It was game time. Waiting for him was excruciating.
Would he be okay? What if something happened?
---
Five cannons at once. The barrels were empty, but the harsh booms were enough to send the message that many people across the three countries were on edge for: it was time to begin the creation of a new future.
Almost instantaneously, the signals echoed across the coast; the cannon fire was cloned, replicated by church bells, handheld flares, empty guns shot at the sky. It was intricately organized chaos, a web of voices shouting at the sky: our time has come.
Miles to the north, Luffy’s fleet members were storming border control posts. There would be no violence, if they could avoid it.
Much of what happened, amidst the blaring sound of cannon fire, happened in silence. Luffy’s comrades entered the guard posts stealthily, something he wouldn’t have been capable of. The guards stood down; while some of them were unaware of what was going to happen this day, a large amount of them knew what was coming. They relinquished their arms and put their hands up in surrender. The border opened seamlessly.
At the same time, a band of pirates under Luffy’s direction stormed the palace’s central source of income, the precious metals mines scattered off the Western coast. A scuffle broke out here and there, from countrymen and laborers who held undying loyalty to their King, but eventually they acquiesced. Now was the time to stand down, and stand down, they did.
In the northwest, the rebel uprising in the neighboring country began. The betrayal against their own kingdom wasn’t taken kindly by their own countrymen; but, although there were a handful of casualties, the government was efficiently deposed. Rebel forces infiltrated and took control, calling off their military invasion of the country’s neighbor to the east. Borders opened to the south, with Luffy’s help. The country’s era of famine was over; the trade routes would open, tariffs removed, their children and spouses fed. This was the day they dreamed of.
In the east, something similar was happening. The central government decreed that every citizen and soldier must lay down their weapons; the invasion was over, the years of scarcity would be put to rest today.
Later that evening, the new leader installed by the rebel forces in the east met with the leader to the west. They signed the peace treaty that Sabo and Ace worked so hard to bring into existence; they agreed on terms of fishing, on relations to wildlife, on ways to move forward together, to soften the tension and scarcity felt by both countries. They set out to transform the regret and strife into something bigger and better: into a new way of existing together, now that the geopolitical state of the region had vastly changed in the course of less than a day.
Meanwhile, Luffy had to go commit the final act of this whole revolution with his brothers—the deposition of his own father. He promised you that he’d return in a matter of hours and that you’d be safe with his crew. He never broke his promises.
When the three brothers advanced into their father’s study, where the old king sat next to a smoldering fire, he looked them defiantly in the eyes. He knew that his reign had come to an end.
“Father,” Sabo began, “you know why we’re here. This has to end. We’re not going to hurt you, but you can’t be king anymore. The country cannot survive this way.”
“Do you know what you’re doing?” The king whispered, seething. “Do you know how to run a country, boys?”
“You don’t,” Ace spat out, stepping forward. “You’ve starved millions. You’ve ruined lives. Your despotism, nationalism, and foolishness must end. This cannot continue. You are no longer king.”
His father sat petulantly, pouting almost like a child, helpless. He didn’t move a finger when Ace unceremoniously grabbed the crown off his head and threw it into the fire.
“We’ve had enough. The kingdom has had enough,” Sabo said. “Our neighbors have had enough. You’re done.”
“And you, Luffy?” The king’s voice shook.
“And me? I can’t wait to see what this kingdom becomes when we’re done prying your fingers off it.”
The king knelt his head. He had long since reached an age where his apathy, feebleness, and cowardice prevented him from having the strength or desire to fight for anything. “What are you going to do now?”
“You will be locked in this room until one of us comes to get you later. You will announce your resignation to the country, and then you will leave the palace forever.”
“And what will happen to the country?”
“You’ll find out soon enough.”
“Where will I go?”
“We prepared somewhere for you. Somewhere safe, miles from here, where you can live out your days in solitude.” Sabo paused. “We’ll visit—it’s not that we hate you, father, but that your time at the helm has simply come to an end. You’ve injured and starved too many people. It’s over.”
The king nodded, crossing his arms across his chest.
Letting out a deep sigh, he murmured, “Get out of my sight.”
“Fair enough,” Ace said, shrugging, as the crown started to melt.
It was as simple as that. The ex-king announced his resignation later that evening, and word spread like wildfire through each country. The uprising was successful.
As the brothers left their father in his chambers and locked the door from the outside, Sabo threw the last venomous word over his shoulder.
“Coward.”
His voice was bathed in vitriol. This old man—so unassuming, so frail, so woefully ignorant of the consequences of his actions—would live a good life, still. He would live a peaceful one, never wanting for anything. He was lucky, Sabo told himself, that he had three sons so gracious and generous as to give him these luxuries, which he had deprived his kingdom of for two decades.
It was a long day and night. Luffy finally returned to the ship after saying goodbye to his brothers and entrusting the kingdom to them and the series of local counsels they had established.
When he finally made it back to the ship, he crawled in bed with you.
“You’re finally free from the palace,” he croaked out, exhausted. “Free from hard labor and having to bow to royalty. And so is the rest of the kingdom. It’s finally over.”
You played with his hair and traced circles on his skin, like he had done to you the night before, until he fell asleep.
---
Epilogue:
Life on the sea was hard to put into words. You adjusted quickly to the crew’s relaxed dynamic and felt more welcomed and loved than you had anywhere before. Your worries about your family and friends back home melted away, as you had frequent correspondence with them. The country immediately slipped into a stable and healthy sociopolitical situation, with the help of Ace and Sabo.
You even got to speak with both of them frequently over the transponder snail. Whenever Ace called, his voice was laced with regret, but it also carried a note of hopefulness and sincerity. You became friends, real ones this time. You truly forgave him and saw in him a kernel of sensitivity and kindness that no one would have thought was there
Every time you picked up the transponder with a cheery “Hello?” he cracked a smile. He learned to cope with the feeling of wanting something—someone—and knowing that you couldn’t be anything more than friends; he had a severe reckoning with himself about his character, impulses, and flaws. It was for the better.
Somehow, Sabo started feeling something similar. He called you more often than he could make up excuses for, just enjoying the sound of your voice. You’d ask him how his recent diplomatic endeavors were, and every time, he’d tell you he was tired but fulfilled.
One every few months, your crew made their way back to your homeland, and Luffy and Ace had since reconciled. You would spend a day with Sabo and Ace every now and then, and the two of them would exchange knowing looks seeing you and Luffy fawn over each other. And while each smile from you made Ace’s heart twist and color rise to his cheeks, he understood that having you in his life like this was far better than anything that could have happened otherwise. Even though you were at an arm’s distance, he was grateful to see you, just for a little while.
It blew your mind to think about the trajectory of your life. You started out a servant and now you were sailing on the high seas with the love of your life, a pirate and ex-prince who would do anything for you.
In no time, you learned the rhythm of the waves and became familiar with the pattern of the sun reflecting off the ocean swells. The brisk breeze of salty air that sprayed onto the deck of the ship started to feel like home, and the crewmates did everything they could possibly think of to welcome you.
Sanji made your favorite meals. Zoro sardonically teased you. Robin and Nami let you in on their inside jokes and spent quality time with you. Chopper took good care of you, Brook sung for you, and Jimbei shared stories and wisdom about his life. Usopp and Franky put their heads together to make special gadgets to make your life easier and did their best to make you laugh.
And finally, Luffy. The love between you blossomed now that there were no constraints and no palace walls to stratify your relationship.
He didn’t take long to say, “I love you.” It happened one night, only a handful of days after you boarded the ship.
That evening, following dinner, you sat alone on the empty deck of the Sunny and gazed up at the stars, trying to take in and comprehend that this was your life now.
He found you, slipped his arms around your waist, as he loved to do, and kissed your cheek.
“Do you know what I was thinking about?” He asked, softly.
“Tell me.”
“I was thinking about the fact that I’ve never told you that I love you. But I want you to know now, that I love you. In case you didn’t know.”
“I knew, Luffy. But hearing you say it makes me so happy.”
He chuckled and then kissed you on the cheek. “Then I’ll never stop saying it.”
It’s finally over! I know I overpromised on the Sabo front, since I said MC and Sabo would get more time/romance together, but in the end, I just wrote what I felt was how the story would really go. I tried to wrap things up nicely but I’m sure there’s stuff I missed. If you're unsatisfied, my apologies. I’m honestly just relieved to have the series over; it’s the longest story I’ve ever written, and it felt like a lot of pressure sometimes (not from you guys, but from pressure I put on myself). I think it was a good exercise in learning how to write long-form fiction, so thank you for participating and reading, I really appreciate it.
Finally, I drew a lot of inspiration for this story from my favorite songs in Arabic. Each chapter title is either the title or a lyric from one of those songs. For this chapter, it’s from Bahlam Maak, by Nagat Al-Saghira, the title of which means "Dream with you."
i really need to post that last chapter, don't i? ...
i miss you guys - sorry to be so MIA (tale as old as time). it's been a crazy year and i've made progress on some major career/personal milestones... so i have (as usual) been neglecting my fanfic endeavors.
sanji has been on my mind a lot recently, so perhaps i'll do some writing. but no promises (yet). just wanted to check in. love y'all <3
Summary: After a nice meal, you start to feel weird. Did you eat something funny? It turns out everyone is feeling the same, and there's only one thing to do about it. Read content warnings please!
CW: Lots of nasty sex. Afab reader, G/N language. Aphrodisiacs. TONS of zosan gay shit (like 50% of this fic). Could be considered dubcon because the aphrodisiacs are strong and reader keeps losing touch with reality, but it is consensual >_> Voyerusim, dacryphilia, begging, dry humping, edging, masturbation, "good boy," riding, prone bone, you name it.
MINORS DO NOT INTERACT, THIS IS (VERY) NSFW CONTENT.
Something was in the water at the new island the Sunny anchored on. Or was it in the wine? The bread? The butter? You couldn’t remember what you ate. Your memory of the night was blurred—scattered scenes played through your mind the next day. Your recollection was… messy and nonsensical. You tried to recount the night.
In the early hours of the night in question, Sanji went into the island’s town to get supplies and ingredients for dinner. It was a nice day full of free time, clear skies with a slight breeze.
Nami and Robin went shopping and they wouldn’t be back on the ship in time for dinner. Brook, Usopp, Chopper, and Franky went off and did god knows what. Similarly, they wouldn’t be back in time for the evening meal. Sanji promised to make enough so they could have leftovers later.
When everyone went on their separate outings, that left you, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji on the ship.
It was a small, simple, and delicious dinner that night. An intimate setting with just you four, a nice opportunity to hang out with part of the East Blue crew. You were soaking in some modicum of silence and peace (whenever Luffy allowed it) on the mostly empty ship.
Aside from Luffy’s chomping and smacking noises while he ate, dinner was relatively silent. Sanji and Zoro weren’t butting heads for once, either. You sat at the table, talked sparingly, and drank some of the wine that Sanji bought in town.
When dinner was over, you helped Sanji wash up (like usual), then you sat at the dinner table and did some reading.
An hour or so passed. You read your book while Sanji prepped food and cleaned the kitchen a few feet away. Gradually, the room got warmer. You opened a window, letting in some of the cool evening air, propped a door open, and sat back down again.
After a few minutes, you noticed that you felt a bit ill. Lightly perspiring, you almost shivered—your limbs felt heavy, you felt light-headed. You tried to reason it away. Did you have too much wine?
No, you didn’t. You stood up, and as you rose to your feet you realized that you felt like you were going to pass out. At the same time, your body started to buzz. You had never felt like this before. Something was seriously off.
Sanji was still in the kitchen cleaning up, and you staggered in his direction, stopping at the sink to splash some water on your face. The cold water felt great on your hot cheeks, and you could have sworn you saw steam rise up from where the cool droplets met your skin.
“My love, are you alright?” Sanji’s sweet voice shocked you out of your feverish stupor. You had almost forgotten he was there. When you turned to face him, your body pulsed and heat tingled outwards from between your legs, radiating to your whole body. He had never looked so good before.
The blonde’s eyes widened in shock—your pupils were dilated, your breathing was shallow and quick, and your face was covered in a sheen of sweat. He brought a hand to your forehead and confirmed that you had a fever. “Are you sick, dearest? You don’t look well.”
When his skin touched yours, your breath hitched. “Sanji, I don’t feel too good.”
“Do you need to go lay down? I’ll get Chopper to come take your temperature and give you something to help you feel better, okay?”
You didn’t know it, but Sanji was starting to feel ill, too. He was sweating just barely and had, up until that point, been blaming it on the fact that he just cooked and cleaned and was a bit exhausted. But what was more concerning to him was that in your feverish state you looked even more beautiful than usual—no, beautiful wasn’t the right word. In his mind he remarked that you looked fucking hot. Stunning. Sexy, even.
He could rip your clothes off here and now and ravage you, had you been up for it. But that sentiment wasn’t necessarily out of the norm, rather, it was that you were evidently sick, and he was starting to feel a bit woozy himself.
Maybe the food had turned, and he didn’t realize it, so you were both suffering from food poisoning. But that would have been very unlike him to not pick up on the food tasting rotten. It must have been something else. Did you both pick up some virus from the last island you were on? Like Nami on Little Garden that one time?
A soft whine slipped out of your lips. The noise made his stomach flip. You sounded like you were in pain but… you also sounded a bit erotic to him. In this state, his mind raced. Is that what you would sound like in bed? Whining like that?
Sanji mentally berated himself more than ever before, letting self-disgust wash over for a moment before he shook it off. When he got back to his senses (he had been staring at you for only a couple of seconds), he started to guide you to your cabin for some rest. “Come on, gorgeous. Let’s get you to bed.”
But no matter how many internal curses he threw at himself, he felt a tent forming in his pants. Something weird was happening.
He balked at the idea that seeing you in your current state was getting him so flustered. You were ill, after all. What sort of gentleman would he be right now, if he was thirsting over you while you had a dangerously high fever and were obviously in pain?
As he tried to shrug off how odd he was starting to feel, the blonde chef guided you down the hallway and towards your room. You walked behind him and your vision started to get splotchy. With every degree your fever worsened, you felt something get more intense—was this feeling arousal? At a time like this?
Sure enough, heat bloomed between your legs; small zaps of pleasure radiated outwards with each step. The arousal-sickness combination was disorienting and concerning.
And not only were you just aroused, but it was coupled with wild sensitivity—as you moved, the fabric of your pants brushed down there, sending an electric shock up your spine as the tingling sensation intensified. Were you hallucinating, or was wetness seeping out of your core, saturating your panties?
The walk down the hallway felt like years.
By the time you were almost to your bed, you were soaking wet from nothing other than walking. You tried to squeeze your legs together. Was there a stain on your pants from how unreasonably wet you were? Should you hide it? The fabric of your pants was rubbing you just right, and, in the moment you sat on the (conveniently large) bed, you convulsed in pleasure. Undeniably, you moaned. A quiet one, but a moan, no less.
You sat there for a few seconds, eyes closed and mouth hanging open as you positively buzzed in pleasure. You didn’t know what was happening, and you were unaware that you were slowly rubbing your thighs together, drawing out more tingles of pleasure. Was that an orgasm?
Sanji’s mind was racing, and he was hyperaware of everything—every shallow breath and flutter of your eyes was making his heart patter and the tent in his pants grow. He was fully erect now, and his mind was so scrambled that he didn’t even think of hiding it. He almost couldn’t breathe. Something was wrong. Very wrong.
It was from this point on that you started to question if any of this was real or if you were just having a fever dream.
Sanji stood over you, watching in what could be called a mixture of concern and rabid desire. Your eyes opened finally, and it felt like you had tunnel vision. You noticed it then—his erection, hard and big. There was a visible stain on his bulge where precum pooled into the fabric. His cock twitched when he realized your eyes were focused on it.
“A-are you okay?” Sanji asked. He didn’t know what to say. He needed to drag himself away to a bathroom and deal with this.
His words got caught in his throat as your body literally worked against your own whims. Your fingers moved like they were being controlled by a puppeteer—you watched them in third person as they trailed down your abdomen and came to rest over your throbbing core.
Looking up at him, you gave yourself a squeeze through your pants. Some erotic sound tumbled from your lips. Your fingers started to circle over the fabric of your pants where your clit must have been, and you spread your thighs a bit. You couldn’t control yourself.
“Help, Sanji,” you whispered, mouth dry. “Don’t know what’s happening. Can’t stop.” Your fingers moved faster, building a crescendo of pleasure that would crash onto you soon. You felt like you were going crazy with need. No longer focused on the fever wracking your body, your mind knew only one thing: you needed pleasure.
If you didn’t get more soon, you were worried you’d pass out. Or something would happen. Would you go crazy?
“H-help?” Sanji’s voice cracked. “What do you mean?”
“Touch me,” you whimpered, fingers moving faster now. His jaw dropped.
Luffy suddenly staggered to the door and leaned on the frame. He was unbothered by the sight in front of him and, quite frankly, he looked a damn mess. His hair was plastered down on his forehead in sweat, he had no shirt on, and his pajama pants were riding down, showing the band of his boxers.
“Guys,” Luffy’s voice was strained. “I feel really weird.”
Your eyes darted down. Luffy was rock hard, bulge standing out against the gray fabric of his pants. His cloudy vision came to rest on your chest. With no care in the world, one of his hands reached down to start rubbing himself.
“It won’t go away no matter what I do,” Luffy rubbed the heel of his hand down the outline of his erection, and his words were broken by a loud grunt. “I came here to ask for help but it—it looks like you beat me to it.” He cracked a grimace/smile and threw his head back after a moment, leaning his whole weight on the door frame as he touched himself through the fabric.
You snuck a hand into your pants. Brushing your clit gently, you keened. You were on autopilot, incapable of controlling your actions and not the most cognizant. All you knew was you needed more, and if you didn’t get more, something bad would happen.
“Mmmphhhh,” Luffy stifled a groan as he squeezed himself, lost in his own world. “It’s like my body is on fire.”
Your vision went black around the edges—you started to rub faster, spreading your legs open wide and creeping your fingers under your panties.
Burying your hand in your underwear, you hissed in air at your teeth as your fingertips came in contact with your hot folds. Your back arched and a needy sound trickled out. “F-fuck, Sanji help me.”
Sanji froze, eyes glued on your hand that was shoved down your pants, stirring under the fabric. The stain on his pants got bigger and wetter—it was very noticeable.
“What do you want me to do love?” He asked in a hushed, hesitant tone. He was holding onto his last shreds of reason, trying not to pounce on you, but those shreds of rationality were slipping out of his grasp like sand.
Your vision started to go black. You closed your eyes, lost in the pleasure that you pulled from yourself in a daze. Sanji reached a hand up to your core and ran a thumb up and down over the fabric above your clit. Your wetness was seeping through the layers already.
Some amount of time passed. You came and it helped you regain lucidity. When you opened your eyes—you had no clue how long it had been—you were laying on the bed and Luffy stood over you, watching intently.
Sanji was sitting at the end of the bed, now shamelessly digging his thumb into the tip of his cock, playing with his slit as clear precum seeped out of it. His hips bucked upwards a few times and you watched. You realized that you were touching yourself, moving your fingers in swift and messy need.
Luffy leaned in and pressed his lips on yours. The first few kisses were surprisingly sweet, loving, even, but they quickly turned sloppy. He maneuvered onto the bed—now, his knee was pressed against your core, a hand braced on one side of your head, and the other rested on your cheek as he kissed you passionately.
You made out for a few seconds, grinding down onto his knee a bit, aiming for friction. Your mewls were driving him and Sanji insane—the blonde continued to tease himself and stroke slowly while he watched Luffy take in every inch of you with his lips. The captain’s lips moved south.
He pulled your pants and panties off quickly, spread your thighs wide, and started to eat you out on the spot. Pressing his tongue on your clit, the captain drew soft circles around your sensitive bud, then he swiped his tongue up and down along your entrance. Luffy wasted no time slurping and greedily licking every inch and crevice of you that he could.
You started to lose touch with reality again—you realized, distantly and in third person, that whatever was wrong with you seemed like you would start to black out any time you went too long without an orgasm. As you were making this conclusion, a loud thud at the door distracted you once again.
Zoro’s body had dragged him across the ship, bringing him to your room of its own accord. He could hardly walk, slamming into the door frame, and before he knew it, he was sitting on the bed next to Sanji, eyes darting between Luffy eating you out and the blonde’s fist stroking and squeezing his hard on.
Your eyes shifted to Zoro, sitting with his legs spread wide on the bed next to Sanji. The swordsman started running a palm over his clothed erection. His breaths were fast, his cheeks were bright pink, he didn’t seem fully aware of the fact his eyes were glued on his nemesis/frenemy’s fist pumping over his cock.
No one said a word for a few moments. It was a silent agreement—whatever was happening needed to be addressed, and there was only one thing to do.
It had been too long without climax for you (again). Your vision went black and your mind went blank. When an orgasm finally crashed into you, minutes later, it brought you back to reality and a few moments of lucidity. Your ears were greeted by a cacophony of ragged breaths and deep groans to your left.
Turning your head, your eyes were met with the sight of two people (who you thought utterly hated each other) entangled on the bed.
Sanji was completely naked, while Zoro had on short, tight, black boxer-briefs. He was on top of Sanji, rubbing his aching erection on Sanji’s while his brows furrowed and needy sounds trickled out of his mouth. Every few seconds, Sanji let out a whimper and arched his back off the bed.
“Don’t stop,” Sanji gasped, grabbing fistfuls of sheets as Zoro’s muscles rippled.
“I f-fucking can’t,” the swordsman grunted in response, his tone tinged with annoyance.
Your eyes stayed glued on the pair, bewildered and feral, until Luffy’s tongue, buried inside of you, demanded your attention. Was he using his devil fruit powers? Head had never felt this good before. His tongue prodded your pulsing hotness, sliding up and down greedily between your lips before pushing inside of you again.
The slurping noises from your captain were sinful. Your eyes crept from his head buried between your legs to the sight of his hips rutting on the sheets beneath. His cock craved friction. He wished his tongue wasn’t buried in you but something else instead.
Grabbing tufts of Luffy’s hair, you dragged his mouth closer, pressing his roaming tongue as deep as physically possible.
“L-luffy, need m-more. Please.” You begged, vision getting blurry around the edges. You felt hotter than before.
Instead of your captain’s voice in response, a loud moan from Sanji answered your pleading. Your eyes snapped to the pair of men again—Sanji was squirming under the swordsman, shuddering and clawing at Zoro’s biceps now as he grinded up into his cock.
“Cumming,” the blonde grunted, pushing his hips upward, grinding harder onto Zoro. “I’m c-cumming, fuck, fuck, fuck.”
The chef came on his own stomach while Zoro rocked his hips into the blonde’s shaft with more urgency, overstimulating him and eliciting desperate cries.
“Can’t stop,” Zoro choked out amidst his own moans and heaves for air.
Tears pricked in the corner of the chef’s eyes, but he didn’t tell the swordsman to stop, in fact, he rutted his hips up again and again. He was gearing up for yet another orgasm when Zoro brought him into a kiss and trailed his fingers towards the blonde’s erection.
More moments fleeted by—more gut-wrenching pleasure from Luffy’s tongue inside of you, hazy images of Sanji and Zoro grinding on each other, smearing the milky puddle of cum all over Sanji’s abdomen on Zoro’s underwear and abs.
Your eyes fixated on the outline of Zoro’s erection through the damp fabric. You were mesmerized.
Time faded into oblivion. The next memory you had was of Zoro flipping you over, onto your stomach, and climbing on top of you. He positioned you in prone bone, pressing his chest on your back. Trailing his fingers down and squeezing a rough handful of your ass, he then dipped two fingers into your hot folds and coaxed fireworks of pleasure from you.
Zoro relished how wet and ready you were for him thanks to Luffy’s previous work. He played with you for a little while, dragging his finger pads across your g-spot repeatedly and curling them upwards inside of you until you begged for more. When he pushed his cock inside, he felt so big that it was almost painful. He entered you centimeters at a time, and when he finally bottomed out and the ring of hair around the base of his cock met your flesh, his hips started to pump into yours rhythmically, gaining speed each moment that passed.
“Feels hot and s-sticky inside,” he gasped, hips shuddering into you as his tip passed your g-spot. You shifted under him the slightest bit, drawing a sensitive gasp from the swordsman. Every movement from him felt euphoric—and coupled with his weight on top of you, you felt like you were going crazy with desire. He couldn’t fuck you fast enough.
Turning your head, you realized that Sanji had one hand wrapped around his cock again but was now in a similar position to you. He was flush with the bed, chest pressing on the covers, simultaneously stroking himself and humping the sheets as he watched Zoro fuck you.
Zoro groaned pure filth in your ear. “Just like that, baby. Fuhccckkk. Feels so good.”
Each pass of Zoro’s length inside of you and past your g-spot was met with a squelching noise from how wet you were—every roll of his hips pushed him deeper inside of you and it felt like you were floating.
As Sanji watched, his fist moved faster and so did his hips. He roughly jerked his length and rubbed his glistening tip into the covers. His cock felt hot, it was pulsing, and each brush of his flesh against the fabric made him shiver. He was working off of animal instinct alone, eyes so dilated and mind so foggy that all he knew was that he felt good and he didn’t want it to stop. He could watch the pair of you for hours. He didn’t care.
Voice husky and bathed in lust, Zoro was getting more worked up. “Say my name,” he groaned as his length passed in and out of you. “Say it.”
Before his name could exit your lips, Sanji moaned into the sheets below. “Zoro. Zoro. Hah, fuck, Zoro.” Moments later, you watched him orgasm all over the sheets below, mouth agape and eyes squeezed shut.
Hearing the chef’s desperate, pathetic mewls made Zoro fuck you faster. Just when you thought you were at the precipice of orgasm, Zoro reached a hand under you and started to rub your clit, then he bit your shoulder. The pain felt good, and the combination of sensations was overwhelming—your orgasm was intense, shocking, and ecstatic.
A fleeting thought passed through your mind—where’s Luffy?
He was perched at the end of the bed, touching himself to the sight, waiting for his turn, which he promptly took when Zoro was done with you.
The next scene in your memory was Luffy fucking you, but you weren’t quite sure how you got there. You did remember that right before Luffy touched you, he asked you softly, “Do you want to keep going? Or have you had enough?”
You croaked out an eager, “more.”
“On top?” Luffy asked, waiting for your confirmation. And when you again agreed, he shifted, so he was laying on the bed, and you were on top of him.
Sinking down on his cock, you started to ride him. His hands came to rest on your hips and his eyes looked hungry. As if he wasn’t full from the ridiculously huge meal he just ate.
Parallel to you and Luffy, Zoro had Sanji on his lap. Zoro’s chest pressed on Sanji’s back, so the chef was facing you and Luffy. The swordsman’s large, rough hand wrapped around Sanji’s front. Languidly, Zoro played with Sanji’s shaft, teasing him at a snail’s pace.
Zoro wasn’t all there mentally because of (what you deduced to be) the aphrodisiacs. It’s like he was running on pure thirst. Something in him wanted Sanji to beg and wanted to see you getting off to the sight. He was getting a kick out of the cook being absolutely pathetic. He wanted to see him be utterly shameless.
“’m gonna cum,” Sanji whimpered, writhing around on the stocky pair of hair thighs underneath him.
“Shhh. Not yet, cook. Can’t you hold on for a little bit longer? Don’t you want to watch?”
Sanji got quieter and nodded, holding his orgasm at bay as best he could while he watched you ride Luffy, who was practically growling out commands faster than you could keep up.
“Faster.” “Faster.” “Harder.” “More.” Every time he spoke, you did as he said. You did so until your legs started to burn, until your thighs started to shake, until he was doing all the work for you, lifting you up and down on his shaft.
He pressed his tip on your spongey hot spot and wrenched pleasure from you. Zoro edged and teased Sanji within an inch of his life while the pair of them watched—it was almost cruel. The cook was in tears over how good it felt, how badly he wanted to keep cumming, and how much it was getting to his head.
“Please Z-zoro, fuck, please.” Sanji was close to his breaking point.
“Just a bit longer, curly brows, hold on.”
A few more seconds passed. It didn’t take long for Luffy to bring you to the brink of orgasm, which was what Zoro was hoping for. As you started to shake, eyes rolling back in white-hot pleasure from your orgasm, Zoro finally gave Sanji permission to cum.
You hadn’t expected the swordsman to be this controlling, this mean, and this verbal.
“Mmmphhhh. Just like that,” Zoro exhaled while he watched you cum all over Luffy’s cock. “Now you can cum.” He then murmured something in Sanji’s ear that would have left you gob smacked if you had enough wherewithal to think. “There’s a good boy.”
While Sanji painted his own stomach white, you collapsed on top of Luffy. He kissed the side of your head and started to pet your hair.
“You need a break?” He asked you, voice tender and kinder than usual. You nodded and then drifted into unconsciousness for some period of time.
Memories after this point completely faded to black. You had some notion of waking up and sucking Zoro off and then riding Sanji until he cried again, but… the images were blurred. Someone came on your face, two indiscernible figures in your memory were entangled on the sheets again, but… you drew a blank after a point.
---
When you finally came to, you concluded that whatever the fuck that was must have been a very strong aphrodisiac. You couldn’t figure out what it was in though—the wine? The water? Something in the food? Whatever it was, it must have gotten out of your system through sheer number of orgasms and hours of fucking.
You were still on your bed, under the covers and tucked in along with Luffy. Sanji and Zoro were off somewhere, presumably getting cleaned up but…? Who knows.
You checked the clock—it was around 10:00PM. You, Sanji, Luffy, and Zoro had been going at it since 5:00PM, shortly after your early dinner. So… almost five whole hours? But you didn’t feel like it, really. You weren’t sore or anything which was a feat in itself.
Putting some clothes on, you wandered to the kitchen for a glass of water. You were parched. You’d have to wait to debrief until you saw Zoro or Sanji, or until Luffy woke up.
You walked into the kitchen and were met with a sight that broke your brain for a second. Nami, Robin, Franky and Usopp were at the dinner table, chowing down on the dinner leftovers Sanji packaged up for them in cute little serving boxes. They must have just gotten back from their outings.
Your eyes flashed around the room—wine bottles were open. They were having a grand old time.
Your stomach sank. Fuck. They were about to have even grander of a time if they kept eating and drinking like that. You’d have to sit yourself out for round two—not sure you could handle it, honestly.
After that night, you came to a good understanding of the dynamics with each man in bed. Not only from your memory, but because you went in for seconds with each of them at some point. Luffy was greedy and forthcoming, but kind, like usual. Zoro was an absolute machine, filthy and verbose. And Sanji was, well, Sanji. He was doting, pathetic, and desperate. What a good variety to choose from—you were never left wanting again.
ik im gonna look back at this later and go GOD DAMN woman, were you okay? frothing at the mouth. anyway...

just a bit of a reflection and words of encouragement to any fellow writers out there, or to people who are thinking about writing anything, fanfic or otherwise.
it's only been in the past few months that i've been trying to take my writing very seriously outside of fanfic (one of the reasons i disappeared for a little while). i hope to write prolifically in my life, if for no one else, for myself. in fact, i've been trying to get in the habit of writing something, anything, every day. i've started to dabble in narrative, original fiction. i've been thinking at length, identifying and workshopping the themes i want to explore, the feelings i hope to investigate, the images i want to conjure in my readers minds, the seeds of creativity inside of me that have yet to sprout.
and something that i've realized again and again is that fanfic is a training ground. it's where we go to practice and transform. writing fanfic makes you a better writer. can you think for a second, how spectacular it is, that you decided to sit down to write? that you went out on a limb to do that? how wild it is that you posted it? do you realize that you get better every time you write? that the act of writing is a muscle, one that you must exercise? and each time you exercise that muscle, you change?
genuinely, i just wanted to say that writing fanfiction with vigor and passion is one of the best things i've ever done for myself as a writer and reader. it's a decision that ranks among other life changing ones, e.g. moving across the country. my point here is that while fanfic may seem like a silly little past time, it has serious implications for your growth as a writer. my relationship with the page in front of me has completely altered. instead of a daunting blank space, the page and i have rapport. a rapport i've spent countless hours cultivating.
if you're thinking about writing something, anything, i seriously want to encourage you to do so, or to keep doing so. cultivate that rapport! become familiar with that page! take your pen, boldly, and write what you feel, what you wish for, what you fantasize about, what makes you tick. it will make you better because of it. in the words of ernest hemingway, "all you have to do is write one true sentence. write the truest sentence you know." what true sentence(s) do you know? what about one true feeling, or true moment? how can you start translating that into words on a page?
just some thoughts. if you actually read this, damn. thank you. i felt like ranting. i hope many people pick up their pens (literal or figurative) and write with reckless abandon. i can't wait to read what you write. i can't wait to see what else i come up with. cheers!
YOU'RE BACK!!! And I hope you've been doing well, I only noticed so late because I was also gone from Tumblr. May things only continue to improve for you during this year💞
XOCHI!!!! i am back and i'm glad you are too :3 also thank you for the struggle meal suggestions a while ago, ik i never answered your ask but it was so helpful and your kind words meant the world to me ❣️ *hugs* i hope you have an amazing year :3
Can't get out of my head the mental image of One Piece men just absolutely pounding it from behind. I'm talking, chest sweaty, hair plastered down on the forehead, deep, hard, passionate, and rough. I love the idea of being away from them for a while and when you see them again, they just can't keep their hands off of you.
I keep coming back to the idea (spoiler alert, it'll pop up in the next fic of "controlling") of your fave putting his hands on your waist (from behind), fucking in doggy, and he's like running out of steam but way too in the moment to change positions so he gradually keeps bending over lower and lower, grinding harder, till his chest is flush with your back and you're sort of in prone bone but not totally on your stomach yet. His chest is hot and sticky from sweat and his hips just couldn't stop moving even if he tried. Even better if he's so lost in it that his cheek or lips or teeth are touching the skin of your shoulder or back and he's doing something, whether that be biting you (wow, imagine) or literally drooling because he's operating on Horny Brain and can't even be bothered to realize that he's making a nasty little drool puddle on your back!? Honestly, take your pick, but for me anytime I imagine this with any of the OP men I start feeling some sort of way 🥴
𝒮𝓊𝓂𝓂𝒶𝓇𝓎: After a tumultuous morning, you and Luffy touch base at his quarters. There will be a meeting later in the day—with both Ace and Sabo present—and you've been invited. Will you take advantage of the invitation, and bravely face Ace after your rendezvous yesterday? Or will the situation blow up entirely?
Part 8 of 9 - (read part 1 here)
Pairing: Luffy x reader
CW: MC uses she/her pronouns. This is a lore drop chapter. No sex or anything like that. Buckle down for some lore!
✦ Chapter 8: Leave the whole world for you ✦
You laid in Luffy’s bed for an hour or two, trying (and failing) to take a nap after the intense events of the day. You ruminated on the events of the last 24 hours. Getting intimate with Prince Ace. Luffy’s discovery of the bracelet that his brother gave you. The revelation that Prince Ace had a history of doing the same thing to other servants before you—the idea that he was trying to claim you like property. The confrontation between the brothers; the unmasking of the plot for something. A coup? It was a lot to handle at once.
What now? You knew that Luffy would do whatever you asked and take the path that made you the most comfortable, but you weren’t sure just yet what that path would be. It depended on whatever else was going on—the something that the brothers kept alluding to.
At the very least, you knew that you deserved an explanation. Now that you were this involved with the princes, now that you were deeply implicated in some sort of plan to alter the shape of the kingdom, one in which every citizen was involved knowingly or unknowingly… it was time to learn the truth. You deserved every last detail.
Luffy pulled up a chair next to the entrance of his room, and he was sitting there peacefully when you emerged after your fitful attempt at rest.
He was shaken up at the idea that something could happen to you that would make you want to leave him, or that you would get hurt due to your proximity to him. Maybe both of those things had already come true.
Luffy pulled you into a tight hug, unprompted.
“Are you doing ok?” He mumbled into your hair, squeezing you tighter. You tried to nod and then tapped him on the arm.
“Let me go,” you spoke into his chest. It was hard to breathe when he squeezed you like this, even though you were secretly delighted with his outpouring of unexpected affection.
Luffy acquiesced and held you by the shoulders. “I was so worried about you, I got carried away with Ace, and so worked up, and then Sabo stepped in, and… here we are. Are you doing ok? Talk to me.”
“Yeah, Luffy, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me too much. If anything, I feel like I should be the one apologizing.” You rubbed fidgeting in embarrassment. “I mean, getting too close to Ace, not telling him to stop, and not stepping in when you guys got confrontational—”
“Don’t even go there,” Luffy said, voice stern. “It’s not your job to apologize on behalf of another person abusing their power, even if the advances were welcomed. All I care about is you being safe, happy, and comfortable and free.”
“But Luffy…” Your voice trailed off before you gained more courage. “I want to ask you something. I feel like I’m in the dark about what’s going on. Like I’ve heard too much but not enough. I want to know everything that’s happening in the kingdom right now. Sabo mentioned defecting, I know the word liberation was thrown around… All I want from you is some transparency. Can’t you tell me what’s going on?”
Luffy sighed, nodded, and dropped his hands from your shoulders, catching your hands on the way down. He squeezed them.
“Yes, I can tell you everything. I think it’d be better if you heard it from all of us—or at least just Sabo and I. We’re having a meeting later tonight and you’re invited. Like you said, you’ve been in the dark far too long. Another thing I need to apologize to you for. I just didn’t want to get you too involved and… Well, it’s too late now. You can come to the meeting, and I’d like you to, but Ace is going to be there. And maybe it’s too soon for you to see him after I—well, we, you know, fought about you and… Agh. I don’t know. You can come if you want, but I’m keeping you by my side the whole time if you do. If not, I can explain things to you later tonight. What do you think?”
You pondered for a second. “I’m fine with coming, I don’t really have anything against Ace, except that it sounds like he has some problems. Problems that go deeper than fooling around with waitstaff and abusing his power… Honestly, I do like him. I don’t know, there’s not really any hard feelings there, at least on my end. The opposite, actually.” You smiled at Luffy and his heart jumped. “I’ll come to the meeting. What should we do until then?”
Luffy squeezed your hands again. His hands felt large, warm, and rough, enveloping yours. It was distracting.
“I’m going to do some work, then head over to the meeting. You can do whatever you want until then. You’re welcome to stay here and hang out, or go back to your place, or get some food, anything you feel like.”
You decided to go back to your room, wash up, and get a snack.
---
On the way back, you turned a corner and careened head first into Prince Sabo. You collided and, in the moment of confusion, he sturdily grabbed you, steadying you and preventing you from falling over.
“Whoa there,” he chuckled, looking at you. You saw in his eyes the moment he realized it was you, the person who had been causing a nice handful of problems between his siblings. “You almost knocked me out. Do you always run around this fast?”
“I’m so sorry, your highness,” you blurted out, “I didn’t see you there, I should look where I’m goi—”
The prince waved his hand and cut you off, much like Luffy had when you first met. “None of the your highness crap. I’m Sabo. It’s nice to see you again. You look like you’re doing a lot better than the last time I saw you—even though that was only a few hours ago.”
His smile was subtle and kind.
“Thank you, Sabo. Thanks for coming to my rescue. I don’t know what would have stopped them from fighting if you hadn’t… well, if you hadn’t broken them up.”
“It’s no big deal. It’s happened a few times before. They butt heads a lot. Though I do admit, I’ve never seen them go at it quite like that… Must have something to do with you.” He paused, and his eyes swept from your head to toes. You saw some color rise to his cheeks, barely enough to be noticeable. After an awkward pause, he continued. “Did he do anything to you? Did he hurt you?”
“Ace?”
He nodded.
“No, he didn’t hurt me.”
Sabo nodded again. “I thought so, but just needed to double check. Have you talked to him yet?”
Now it was your turn to get awkward and feel hot embarrassment creep through your body.
“N-no. Why?”
“Ah, well, I know he’s been meaning to apologize to you.”
“For what?”
“Being a creep?”
“Oh. Well, I haven’t talked to him yet.”
“I see.” There was another tangible moment of awkwardness. “Well, sorry to take up your time. I’ll look where I’m going next time, too. And, uh, if you ever need anything, and Luffy’s busy, don’t be shy to ask me for support or… well, you get it. If you’re a friend of Luffy’s, you’re a friend of mine. Are you going to the meeting?”
You did a half curtsy and nodded.
“Good. I’ll see you there.”
He did a stiff bow, parting ways. As you walked away, Sabo took a moment to collect himself.
He understood now what all the hubbub was about—the commotion over your attention. There was something different about you. Something fiery, discerning, and sharp in your eyes. If you weren’t already spoken for, and if he hadn’t tentatively agreed to a hypothetical political marriage in the future, he knew he would have taken some more time to get to know you. But enough of that—he had serious matters to attend to.
---
Hours later, at the appointed meeting time, you showed up to the room in question. You were mentally prepared for whatever painful emotions the meeting would bring, particularly regarding Ace. Your feelings on the matter were complex. You didn’t hate him at all, hadn’t made up your mind on whether or not you felt taken advantage of, and you still had quite a soft spot for him. So, seeing him for the first time after the chaotic events of the morning wasn’t as shocking as one might assume. The sight of him made your stomach flip.
Ace might be a bit sleazy, but you thought that, under his complicated exterior, he was a nice man and a sweetheart. He just needed to figure out whatever was wrong with himself and stop acting like a shithead.
He was waiting outside the meeting room, leaning on the door, chewing his lip distractedly with his arms crossed, evidently passing time before he meant to speak to you. When he saw you, he briskly stepped forward.
Cheeks red and eyes fiery (and noticeably puffy—had he been crying?), he bowed deeply in your direction. “I’m sorry, ma’am.”
“For what, exactly, Ace?”
He bit his lip and pondered for a moment. “Doing something that I knew I shouldn’t.”
“What would that be?”
“Overstepping boundaries with you. Trying to convince you to do things. Taking advantage of you. I’m sorry—I have a problem, no, problems, plural, and when you’re around they all seem to melt away and my mind just goes somewhere else. Somewhere it shouldn’t. It wasn’t fair to you to give you the bracelet or try to convince you to leave my brother alone, and as for touching you—I’m sorry, really, I should have known better. I am and have always been a scoundrel, and a piece of shit, at the end of the day. Please forgive me. I will never bother you again. I never should have in the first place.”
His eyes looked wet and ready to run with tears, and his lip wobbled. Looked like he was about to cry. He bowed as low as he could get and held it until you said something.
“Get up, Ace,” you said gently. “It’s fine. I appreciate and accept your apology and your self awareness, but really, what happened happened. It’s in the past. And I consented, really, even though there’s the power difference... and I know that things are complicated. So don’t beat yourself up too much. To be honest, do you know what I think you need?”
“What?”
“Therapy.” Your lips tugged up at the side into a wry smile. “Go to therapy, for Gods’ sake. No more seducing servants for a guilty pleasure of a past time. You said it yourself, you have problems. So go to therapy.”
His lips pressed into a fine line and his eyes showed a mix of emotions that you couldn’t place.
“You’re right, of course. And you’re not the first person to say this to me—”
Your conversation in the hallway was interrupted by the rapid steps of Sabo.
He paused and surveyed your body language, cautious of intruding. “You guys ok? Ready for the meeting?”
Ace sighed and smiled at you. “Yeah, we are. She was just giving me a much needed reality check. Thanks for being such a good sport and so understanding, ma’am. I’ll get my act together.”
“Naturally,” you smiled back at him and it looked like he winced.
“Shall we?” Sabo asked, gesturing to the door.
When you entered, you saw that Luffy was already inside, shaking his foot and staring with a furrowed brow at the map hung on the wall.
Sabo took up his place, standing next to the map in question, and Ace pulled up a crafted stool to sit near him. You and Luffy did the same, sitting next to each other.
Like many of the kingdom’s citizens, you were mostly unaware of the nitty gritty details of the war that had been brewing over the last two decades. You knew some basics, but hearing the brothers talk made you realize just how in the dark you were.
All you knew was that the economy was in shambles, taxes were exorbitant and cruel, and each of the brothers left the palace for years at a time doing things internationally that ostensibly had to do with the war.
The brothers started to talk about what was happening in the kingdom in coded language and jaded tones. They were being vague on instinct, still unable to shirk the secrecy that their plan was shrouded in.
After sitting there absorbing information and listening to them for about 20 minutes, you piped up.
“So… the war is about water? Or fish, rather? What does this have to do with the plan you guys keep alluding to? I’m a bit lost.”
Sabo paused, and when he spoke again, his tone took on the patience and scholarly clarity of a professor.
“It’s about water, and fish, yes. There’s more than that, though. It’s about resources, borders, famine, and general unrest. This has been boiling for a couple decades. When we were growing up, and our father started to get more paranoid, he totally closed borders one day. Do you remember that?”
You wracked your brain for a moment. You did remember something. It was a foggy uproar in your memory—you were a child, there were comments made that you didn’t totally understand. Things after that year became a lot harder for your family. No one in the kingdom had money, your family dinners dwindled to the same subsistence meals, taxes got a lot higher, and almost all trade went to a standstill.
“I think I do remember it.”
“And do you remember that he hiked up tariffs on imports? The whole region depends on trade through the port right next to this city, our capitol. And when he increased tariffs so much—I think it was around 200%, right, Ace?”
Ace’s cheeks colored. He glanced at you, your eyes met, and his eyes flickered down. “One hundred and ninety seven percent exactly.”
“Okay, 197%,” Sabo continued. “It was disastrous for every party involved. Both nations up north—” (Sabo pointed at the map) “previously relied on port access to trade with us, primarily, and then, secondarily, to trade with the other countries that border the sea. With roughly two hundred percent tariffs on everything, it stopped being an option. How can people who are already struggling to put food on the table cope with 200% tax to send their products somewhere they have been for generations? Unexpectedly, at that? It just doesn’t make sense.”
Ace glanced up at you again. “Think of it as an ecosystem. Before our father snapped, for lack of a better word, our three countries were coexisting peacefully. The nation to the northwest relied on fish from the river and trade with us to make up for the things their desert can’t supply them with. The nation to the northeast relied on fish from the same river, yes, but not as much—they aren’t a desert nation, like their neighbor. They have forests in the mountains and rely on elk herds. It’s a seasonal hunt. And they used to trade the goods they’d craft from their hunts with us.”
“They’re a more populous country than their neighbors to the west, too,” Sabo interjected. “So not only were they reliant on trade with us to sell their wares and feed their people, but they have more people to feed than their neighbors. Fishing—overfishing, actually—the river to make up for the deficit of food, that they’d get from trade with us, is the only natural consequence. They haven’t done so maliciously, though I guess that depends on who you ask. I stand by the conviction that they weren’t malicious, though.”
“Okay, you’re losing me again,” you interrupted. “Go slower, please. What’s the issue here, then? It’s not the overfishing?”
“It is.” Sabo and Ace said in unison. And you frowned.
Ace continued. He was having a hard time looking you in the eyes out of shyness (or was it embarrassment?), but he forced himself to. “The issue is us. Our father closing the borders threw a wrench in the ecosystem. The borders don’t allow any refugees or travelers in or out (except very important people). No trade is allowed unless they have a permit and pay the 200% tariff. No one can afford it and they’re desperate for food, at the very bare minimum, which both nations are having a hard time getting. So, the country to the northwest has decided that the logical consequence of their starvation is invading their neighbor to the east and seizing their resources. It’s desperate chaos, a last ditch attempt at survival in the face of starvation.”
“While that was poetic, it’s an understatement,” Sabo said. “This has been boiling under the surface for two decades. It reached a fever pitch recently, when the last of the fish in the river disappeared. The people refuse to put up with it anymore. And not only are the tariffs ridiculous and untenable for our neighbors, but for our own citizens, it’s completely fucked the economy.”
“And you know that firsthand,” Luffy spoke up for the first time in minutes, turning to you. “Your family’s business, the ship making… you all really suffered because of the border and trade restrictions, right?”
You recollected. “Sometimes we didn’t have any food to eat. It was brutal. And it has been brutal ever since. That’s why I was so desperate to work in the palace. Solid and reliable wages. Food to eat.”
The brothers looked at each other and nodded.
“Sabo’s been in the northwest,” Ace began, “defecting against our country and plotting with both the central forces and rebel army there to stop their military invasion of the northeast. He’s been planting seeds of a coup with their central government and being duplicitous. The central government there doesn’t know he works with their rebel forces, and no one in the country, expect those of us in this room (and a select handful of others) understand that Sabo has also been promising the people of that nation total access to our ports and shoreline for their fishing desires after our plan is complete. It’s like this: ‘Stop invading the country to your east and when borders open, and you can fish off our coast and use our ports, tax free.’”
“And similarly,” Sabo interjected, “Ace has been working with the central forces in the northeast to make an agreement with them on our country’s behalf. If they stop abusing the natural resources, we can negotiate with their neighbor and try to halt the invasive military conquest. The country in the northeast will go back to relying on elk products and trade once borders have been opened. To put it simpler, Ace and I have been working opposite angles for the same purpose. Regional stability and flourishing for everyone. We have enough resources to be free and fed. There’s no reason for war, other than our father’s egregious political actions. Since we’re the root of the evil here, something needs to change. We’ve taken it into our own hands.”
“And where does Luffy come into this?” You asked.
“I’m the person who gets the party started,” Luffy said, grinning. “I have a fleet of ships surrounding the peninsula right now. When I send a signal, they’ll invade the country, seize control of the borders and ports, and take control of the palace’s precious metals mines, halting production of our main export, effectively paralyzing the kingdom.”
Your eyes widened. “And then what?”
“Then the rebel forces in the northwest will start their own uprising, depose their government, collaborate with the pirates at the borders, and open the trade routes. They’ll remove their troops from their neighbor to the east and sign a peace treaty.”
“But what about your father?”
“The three of us will corner him. We’re going to confront and depose him. He’s reigned like this for far too long,” Ace said.
“D-do you think he’ll cooperate?” You were gobsmacked.
“It doesn’t matter if he does,” Ace said flatly. “It’s going to happen. We won’t harm him, but he can’t be king anymore.”
“Then who will rule?”
The room went silent. The brothers looked at each other.
“We’re going to do a joint rulership,” Sabo began, sounding unsure. “Ace and I. But we’re transitioning the country away from a monarchy. It’ll be a huge change. We’ll orchestrate a new system of governance; radically democratic council systems that refer back to a multi-lateral body of both government and non-state actors.”
“Can you put that in simpler words? I don’t understand the political mumbo jumbo.”
“We won’t have total control anymore,” Ace said. “It’ll be an effort of collective governance; this style—a monarchy based on total authority—it’s antiquated and cruel. We refuse it.”
You knitted your brows together and thought long and hard about what all of this meant. It was too much to chew at once.
“But, what will Luffy do?”
“Luffy? He’s going back to sea after we’ve squared everything away.”
You turned to the man on your left and his eyes met yours. He reached a hand to grasp yours and gave it a squeeze.
“You’re going with him, right?” Sabo asked, oblivious to the fact that you and Luffy hadn’t officially tied up this loose end yet.
Luffy squeezed your hand again, looked at you imploringly, and silence filled the room.
Seconds ticked on.
“Oh, sorry, fuck, I didn’t realize you two hadn’t talked about it—” Sabo started to stutter, waving his hands around to play off what he perceived as awkwardness.
“I’ll go,” you said without too much thought. In reality, you had made this decision in your heart long ago.
Luffy's face transformed in an instant. His smile was so wide and bright it took over his whole face.
Letting go of your hand, he pulled you close to him and squeezed you so hard you couldn’t breathe.
“L-luffy,” you choked out, “too tight. Ouch.”
“One more second of this,” he said nuzzling his face into your neck. You forgot you had company.
“Maybe we should give them some alone time, Ace,” Sabo said quietly off to the side.
Ace’s cheeks were red hot as he watched his brother embrace you and you giving into it. He felt something twist inside. If he hadn’t been like that to you, hadn’t taken advantage of you, objectified, projected his lust, and used you as a distraction, maybe that could have been him. Envy consumed him.
But he knew deep down that he was too sick and too difficult to ever be loved like that. Like the way you and Luffy evidently loved each other.
“C’mon,” Sabo motioned for Ace to stand and exit the room. Ace followed him into the hall while Luffy positively smothered you in a burst of affection.
---
“What’s up with them?” Sabo exhaled and cocked an eyebrow, leaning on the wall outside the room. “Didn’t know it was that intense.”
Ace remained silent. Sabo continued.
“Do you think they’re in love? I’ve never seen Luffy look at someone like that. And I can’t blame him—I mean, she’s stunning and smart. She doesn’t give herself enough credit, either. Humble, intelligent, and gorgeous. Sheesh.” He put his hands on his hips. “Why’re you so quiet, Ace?”
“I’m sick to my stomach.”
“Oh, about that? Come on. You very realistically had your chance. And you fucked it up. Time to get over it.”
Ace frowned and felt his stomach sink. Not treating you correctly, and not being able to nuzzle in your neck like his brother was doing… both those things would go on his long list of regrets. While he reflected on these things, it hit him like a train head on—he liked you. More than was rational. He hardly knew you. He would never have you again.
Luffy’s raucous laughter from inside the room drew him out of his thoughts. His mood was sour.
“Guys, come back in!” Luffy shouted, and his brothers assented. When they entered again, they saw both you and Luffy radiating something like exultation. Luffy was the happiest he had been in ages.
“Well, I’m not sure we have much more to talk about,” Sabo said, not sitting down.
“Oh, we definitely do,” you raised an eyebrow. “You’ve forgotten to tell me what my part is in all of this. And when it’s all happening.”
“Well… it’s happening tomorrow.” Luffy responded, giving your hand, entwined with his, another squeeze.
“Tomorrow? Are you serious?”
“Yup,” Sabo responded. “As for your place in it, that’s up to you. We’re confident it’ll go off without a hitch, given the whole kingdom’s disdain for our father, and the royal guard’s growing unrest. I don’t think there will be any problems in getting them all to defect. We anticipate little to no violence. So, again, your role is up to you. Luffy… do you have anything in mind?”
“Yeah, I do. We’ll go over the details back in my quarters. Sound good?” He looked at you inquisitively.
“Sounds good.”
“Great, then we’ll all see each other tomorrow?” Sabo said, getting ready to leave the room.
“I’m not so sure about that,” Ace said. “Depending on the timing. Gentlemen, should we prepare to give the signal at about 9AM? 10AM? Does that give everyone enough time to sleep?”
“I say nine,” said Sabo. “Let’s get the ball rolling early. Hopefully the job is done before 5PM. I would say let’s have a family dinner after but…” He laughed. It was a dry, forced sort of laugh. “Who knows what father will be like, and Luffy, I know you may set off before 5PM. Keep in touch, at the very least.”
“Will do.”
“Well then, goodbye. Gods willing, we’ll see you tomorrow.”
Ace bowed out of the room and Sabo joined him, leaving you and Luffy together.
He once again guided you back to the gilded chambers and fountains, holding your hand down the hallway. You wondered how your relationship had miraculously shifted into something different over the course of a very tumultuous few hours.
---
“Fuck, that stuff gets me so stressed out. Plan this, plan that. Why can’t we just go in and roll with the punches?” Luffy wore a pained expression on his face. “I just want to get it over with.”
“I know you do, and I do too… It’s getting me worried about my family, Luffy. Are they going to be okay?”
He looked at you and squeezed your hand, which still hadn't left his. After the meeting, you had returned to his living chambers and sat on one of the comfiest chaise lounges. Without a second thought, he lifted you up ever so slightly, so you were both reclining together, cuddling. That’s what it was, right? Cuddling? Cozied up, pressed up against one another?
He did it like it was nothing, and it felt as natural to him as breathing.
“Yes, your family will be okay. I know the plan must have been confusing, and maybe it sounds scary, but trust me. Do you want to see them tomorrow morning before it all starts? I already asked a group of my most trusted royal guardsmen to man their street and pay attention to your family’s house. They’re actually meeting your family right now, I think. Like, as we speak. Can you tell I’ve been preparing for this?” He smirked. “So, do you like the plan?”
“I like it a lot.”
“After you see your family tomorrow, want to get on my ship?”
“Really?”
“Yeah, me and my crew will make sure you don’t get so much as a scratch on that pretty little head of yours. The seas might get a bit rough but… it’d be nice for you to meet everyone. Especially because you’re going to be joining us now, huh?”
He grinned and nudged you with his elbow gently.
“Yeah, about that… Are you sure? I mean, really sure? You won’t regret it?”
“Regret it? Absolutely not.”
“But Luffy, won’t it make things more complicated if we live together, and with your crew, how will we handle being… well, whatever it is that we are?”
The prince seemed stumped for a minute.
“Whatever it is that we are?” He asked. “I’ll tell you what it is that we are, and you can tell me if you agree. Does that sound okay?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Well, I say we’re together now. For good. I want to do everything with you and I’m tired of holding it back. I want you to live on my ship with me, I want to eat every meal with you, I want to—” he made eye contact with you, turned red, and tripped over his words, “to sleep in the same bed as you, tell you everything I’m thinking, I don’t want you to be under any political obligation to me, I want us to just be us, and I want us to be together.”
“I agree.”
“You’re sure, that you want to be together with me?”
“Of course, Luffy.”
“Like, together together? To be clear, I was hoping it could be—agh, I feel so weird saying this—that it could be romantic. But I know that you might be more interested in Ace, so I really don’t want to pressure you, you know?”
“Luffy, I want to be with you. Romantically, yes. Ace never had a chance, but… to be honest, I do have a soft spot for him. He’s not some huge villain in my eyes. Does that make sense?”
Luffy nodded and sighed in relief, meeting your eyes with a smile.
“Can I do something?” He asked.
“What?”
“Come here.”
The prince placed a hand on your cheek and pulled you in for a kiss ever so gently. It lasted just a couple of seconds but it was tender.
“You don’t know how long I’ve been wanting to do that,” he said once he pulled away.
“Really?”
“Yes, really. You mean the world to me.”
“Well, I’ll say the same to you. Thank you for letting me get close to you, and for taking the time to get to know me. It feels too good to be true, Luffy, and I know this is irrational, but part of me is worried that it is too good to be true—that it’ll all get ripped away somehow. That’s one of the reasons I was hesitant. I get worried that something will happen and I’ll never see you again. And when I start to think about it I just sort of spiral, like, if something happened I wouldn’t be able to do much to even help you because I can’t fight and I—”
“Hey, don’t worry. No spiraling needed. No one will be able to take you away from me or separate us. Do you know why?”
“Why?”
“There’s a side of me that you haven’t seen yet. When I’m captain, on my ship, with my crew—we can do anything, fight anyone, and go anywhere. You don’t need to worry. I promise. Nothing will keep us apart, and no one will come between us. I didn’t just train for years for nothing. And I’ve fought through battles with my friends and liberated whole countries—we really can do anything. Me and you? We’ll be free together. Do you trust me?”
“Yes, Luffy, I trust you more than you know.”
“Then trust me, and don’t worry. It’ll all work out fine. Your family will be safe, and you will be safe with me.”
“Okay, Luffy. I’m relieved to hear all of that. And I’m really looking forward to meeting your crew.”
You nuzzled closer to him and laid like this for a while, feeling his heartbeat and the rise and fall of his chest.
“Can I ask you something?” Luffy whispered.
“Hm?”
“Do you want to sleep in my bed tonight? It’s getting late.”
Now it was your heartbeat that started to get a little bit faster.
“I’d like that a lot, Luffy.”
He grinned.
Here's a rudimentary and explanatory map, please ignore how "phallic looking" it is (in the words of my roommate). The country at the bottom is the one that Luffy & co. are heirs to.
it's here, months later than promised... yes, i know, i cannot be trusted when i say i'm going to post something 🤣 i hope you all like it and that the "political mumbo jumbo" makes sense, at least a little. love y'all xx
OMG YOU'RE BACK HELLO HOW HAVE YOU BEEN WE MISSED YOU
HELLOOOO i missed you too!! ^_^ life has been very busy but very good recently and i've been writing a lot which has been such a treat :D 🩷 what have u been up to??
Hey, what’s your favorite book ever? I love your writing style and I feel like we’d enjoy the same things so I was just curious! (Also I love your Luffy stories, they’re great)
you are SO SWEET i can't handle it >_< my fave book of all time is ernest hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls. immaculate prose, so simple and dialogue focused. it's a tale about anti-fascist, guerilla action during the spanish civil war ❣️💌 it has everything you could want from a story and its contents feel very relevant right now! :3
Sanji is a simple man. When a pretty woman's face rests in the crook of his neck, and he can feel little warm puffs of breath, and he starts to turn red. He's so easy to turn on that it's almost cruel, but at the same time it's just so entertaining to feel him unravel at your fingertips in a matter of seconds. Steam will practically start blowing out of his ears—cartoon style—if you're bold enough to lick a gentle stripe up his neck. You can feel his muscles tense up, and the sound of his hard swallow reminds you of something else that's hard...
His hands, placed so delicately on your skin, inadvertently start to flex. The moment that makes you smile, though, is when your tongue finds its way up to his ear. A playful bite on his earlobe, coupled with you making the sweetest, softest, most strategically-timed moan makes him bite his lip. You know you've won the battle of seduction when he mutters out a soft "fuck, you don't know what you do to me," and you respond, "oh, I know exactly what I do to you, Sanji." He repeats his favorite expletive, and his hands start to wander. Now, the question is, where should he even start? ❤
