So imma try and document my attempt at doing something a friend suggested. I've been having trouble with motivating myself to research stuff for my writing, my friend had the idea of just going out and asking to interview people who work in certain areas or fields. Basically making an adventure out of it like today I went around to speak easys in my city tell I found one I liked and wanted to talk to people about. Ended having to schedule a day but honestly made the experience more fun so far.

Idk well see how it goes when I actually have to ask people questions.

Ok so like been actual trying to do a project and write a short story. I haven't done alot if any big writing project sense high school so it will be interesting to try.

It's just a slasher short story. Gonna keep it's simple, imma write a setting I know and themes I know. Actually try and make something instead of flash fiction every night I'll never edit

The slasher is about two girls who move to the Rockies and I won't say much else

Feelings around art can be really funny, like I love drawing and have very little problems sharing or talking about it and even though I'm bad at music I still something I like sharing and doing around people BUT Writing....... Oh no, fuck your dyslexic ass don't show no one cause practicing, rereading and god forbid showing someone.

And I feel like everyone has a medium like that, one that really really love but is underdeveloped because they care about it to much or have put to much on it. Cause I feel like every artist at some point deify making good art at some point, we worship it but that also makes it so we hate when we make bad art and if you can't make bad art you can never make good art forcing every artist at some point to think there is an impossible gab between us and what we want.

But if you put less on it if you just let yourself stop looking at it as this gig serious thing you will see it's just a sketch away, 50 words or whatever very small daily activity you where told to do that you ignored for trying to remake a life size replica of the 16th chapel for your first painting.

Being a system is really funny sometimes.

Cause you will randomly get a message from someone talking about how long it's been or how much they miss you and you will just be there like "who is this!?" And someone will just chime in " oh yeah I actually hung out with them a couple times, we should message them it's been a bit."

I think it's funny world-building how like, so at the center of Life we've got Water. Arguably The most important resource. Colorless transparent substance that molds to any container and we die without it and quickly. And all organic functions of society hinge on its availability. Could fight a ton of wars over this thing.

And well beyond organic life, modern society's great human invention is the Electronic Magic. Our greatest minds invented the Electronic Magic and it sends information around the world instantly. Our infrastructure our economy our modern life, minute by minute by minute, hinges on utilizing the great Lighting Technology.

BUT ☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️ DO NOT. DO NOT EVER. get the magical Elixir Substance of Life and Living and Healing, Water, IN the Electronic Device. The water keeps you alive critically but it KILLS the Electronic Device instantly and catastrophically. This Says something.

much appreciation for people who create ocs that are clearly derivative of The Character because even if the inspiration is clear, they had the self awareness that their headcanons had snowballed so far past character analysis into pure self indulgence that there was very little of source material left. and that’s beautiful. sometimes when you’re preoccupied playing touys it’s hard to take a step back and realize you’ve actually created something wonderful and new

which is another reason why “this reminds me of The Character!” comments can be annoying because!! ok yes maybe there’s a connection, but appreciate what makes the oc unique!! don’t flatten the creator’s achievement to break away and explore on their own!!

I tend to really like any character or oc that reminds me of my ocs or the characters that inspired them, it makes ame happy to see all the ways different ideas can go and makes me feel like all the people who love the same ideas are all influencing each other. Like I post an oc someone sees it and mods there's this goes on and happens like 50 times tell I see something that is a result of that chain and I mod or play with an idea and it all just cycles through all of us idk just think it's one of the best parts of art

the trick about getting invested and confident in ur own concepts is to surround urself with other likeminded artists who are down to earth. i know nowadays especially people think "indie" and they think undertale or glitch pilots and they have paved the way for great things but i mean like. engage with your friends comics theyve been posting to an audience of 20-30 people. The people who are genuinely at your level with you. Who are working on their projects on the side because they still have a full time job to attend to. who go on long hiatuses because theyre in college and are crunching for tests at the moment.

maybe one day youll have all the resources you want to create your stories exactly how you imagine it at the speed you want it to be done, but until you get there you'll find so many people working with the same resources and available time that you have, and its about that network of small artists being able to support each other that can light a spark that you thought you needed an audience of hundreds to light.

So a very fun thing to happen to us lately is a couple of us getting more comfortable drawing together and adding input on the process where as before at least one more two of us would feel really left out or forgotten

Cause between all of us there is bearly any time for each of use to get to do everything we individually wanna do like art
