"Ah…hey there!" David gave a small nod towards the other, a bit taken aback at the other’s quick recgonization but not completely surprised.
"I bet if you did that, you might freak some people out, though. I mean, who’d expect someone to come up and know their name right off the bat? Spooky!" He jokingly responded, somewhat idly scratching his head. Truth be told, he didn’t exactly study who he’d be in class with, and he felt a bit bad for not being able to return the excitement the other seemed to have.
"David Millamena. It’s nice to meet you too, Ryu." He blinked, not exactly sure how to take the greeting, and gave a weak grin and a wave. Formality wasn’t something he was exactly used to, and he didn’t know how to respond.
"I suppose it is spooky, though I find not knowing things to be a little spookier. After all, I am in the business of knowledge. The world is much less scary when you know what’s going to occur." Ryu chuckled a bit to himself, amused by his own perception of the world, almost like it was an inside joke. Though there was a part of the informant’s heart that loved the unknown he never stopped seeking answers, and thus he found himself rarely surprised, but also rarely afraid.
"David? That’s an odd name for one to have in this country. Though, I shouldn’t talk seeing my own surname is Italian." Ryu thought for a moment, his expression looking like he was in pain but he’d always been told he looked odd when he was concentrating. “Ahh your last name it’s… Filipino, correct? My my, that’s quite a long way. Did you move to Tokyo with your family when you were younger, Millamena-san?"
"Ah. That's pretty cool, I guess. But I know I'd be terrified if someone came up to me already knowin' my damn full name!" He cracked a small grin at the other, glancing down every now and then.
The other was being rather formal, which surprised David, but also hinted he should be a bit more formal in return.
"Yeah, Filipino. My family's moved once or twice before, but this was our longest move to date." He shrugged. "I'm not totally used to it even still, though. I guess it'll pass."
