When I first heard about the Media and Information Literacy subject, I instantly wondered, what exactly is the coverage of the lessons for that particular subject and how is it relevant to our track and to our desired course in college? I went to the first day of our MIL subject thinking that I am not interested nor I am going to use the knowledge that I will acquire for that subject for future purposes. Media and Information Literacy is far more different that I thought it would be. I thought that it is going to be boring, but there are actually a lot of times that a part of the lesson piqued my interest. I thought that I am not going to use the learnings that I would get for the subject, but MIL actually helped me for writing our research paper and for other school works. Just because you are not going to use what you have learned now, does not mean that it is not going to be useful for later. Just because you donât need it in the present, doesnât mean that youâre not gonna need it in the future. If there is one thing that I would pick to be my most favorite lesson in life that I learned from MIL, itâs that change is constant, and progress differs for everyone. Change around you does not matter as they are not the main character of your own story; only you can decide the pace and what is included in your chapters, and it is up to you to decide if youâd let it affect the course. Everything is within your decision, as long as you decide that it is.

Media is shaped by our own culture.
Culture reflects on our media and vice versa. Culture cannot be preserved without the existence of media. Through using the various forms of media and through media languages, culture and tradition can be passed down from generations to generations, reducing the possibility of it being forgotten, though increasing the chance of it being changed. Culture and media are both dynamic, and together, they define a group or a countryâs heritage over the course of years to come and go.Â

The internet is a wonderful place. Here, we can browse and get all the information that we need or want with only exerting little to no effort. Through media convergence, all kinds of media and information can now be accessed by anyone anytime and anywhere. But remember, just because digital platforms are easily accessible for everyone doesn't mean that we can post whatever we want, with no thoughts put into the words or images that we will use. We should still be mindful and be considerate of the people that will be able to view our posts, and Information Literacy covers that.
Information Literacy is the competency of a person to be able to understand and use information not only in an effective way, but also in an ethical and in a moral manner. Being an information literate will enable us to spread information to an audience wisely and effectively, no matter what platform we will share it on. Even if we share information to any kind of media, be it traditional, new, or a mixture of both, we can be rest assured that we would not be able to bring harm to other people as long as we practice using and sharing information responsibly.Â

Technology is a vital point for the evolution of man.
Without the progress of technology, we would still be using our bare hands to utilize the tools or devices that we need to function for our simple activities in our daily lives. Life would be simpler, but it would also be harder. Without face-to-face contact, communicating with other people will be difficult, and with no elaborate machines to help, then completing menial tasks will prove to be a challenge. Technology is a necessity, but it does not mean that any quantity is going to be healthy for our surroundings. Progress with technology sacrifices the condition of our environment, and in order to achieve balance, we need to set some limitations with our usage of technological devices.

No feedback is also a feedback.
In the communication process, feedback is an important component and is needed to know if the receiver of the message has obtained the information given or if the message is clear or not or whether it needs improvement, but that does not mean that silence is not a feedback. Even though silence is also a form of feedback, as much as possible, it is important that we give a constructive response as it would help with the self-improvement of every party involved, whether it be the instigator or ourselves.

âoften, you make choices in life other times, choices make youâ
Hello! My name is Michelle Siazon, and I am an 18-year old student aspiring to achieve her dreams and to survive in the messy rabbit hole called life. I may not be happy all the time contrary to what I appear to be for other people, but I can assure you that I am choosing to be happy every single time, even if it is hard, even if I am the only one that believes that I am. Staying positive is what I am good at, and I hope that I can spread positivity to others through the little things.
Have a good day everyone, and remember, donât forget to take a deep breath and move forward đ
