the asian culture of staying with your family and caring for them beyond adulthood works when you love your family and they're like ok. it's absolute hell however when it's a dysfunctional mess and you all can barely stand each other. you can't even move out bc of the economy. you're expected to buy a house for all of you guys to live together. you have to stay closeted. it's a distinct feeling of being trapped that makes me feel hollow for the future.
