I’m so sick of people pretending to be a mental health advocate until you see the “ugly symptoms”. Y’all want to normalise talking about mental health until depressed people talk about how they haven’t showered or brushed their teeth or cleaned their room in over a month. Y’all want to talk about bpd until our intrusive thoughts are mentioned because people with bpd can and do have toxic symptoms just like any other disorder. Y’all want to be there for anxious people until they have a panic attack over things you deem as simple such as ordering food on their own. Y’all support people with ptsd until they share an uncommon trigger and then they’re being overdramatic and dumb. You support schizophrenics until they’re having an episode and can’t tell what’s real or fake. You support mental illness until it comes to did, npd, aspd, bpd, hpd, etc. You advocate for mental health until it no longer is convenient for you. Fuck all of you who pretend to give a shit. Fuck all of you, even if you’re mentally ill yourself, who shame people for opening up and talking about the ugly symptoms of a disorder. Fuck all of you who make mentally ill people feel like they need to bottle up their thoughts and emotions because YOU don’t like it. For anyone struggling with ugly symptoms: it’s okay to talk about it. It’s okay to struggle. I’m here for you. I love you. You’ve made it through every day and you can still keep getting through this. Life is tough but so are you and even if you don’t feel strong, I’m here if you need some support because no one should be alone with their mental health.
