Today marks the 10th anniversary of Jennifer’s Body (dir. Karyn Kusama, 2009), a subversive feminist horror-comedy starring Amanda Seyfried fresh from Mamma Mia! stardom and every-2000s-mean-girl Megan Fox, giving a twist on her own type casting by playing the titular man-eating demon cheerleader. Although poorly reviewed at the time, largely because male reviewers and horror fans did not understand the premise of the film at all, Jennifer’s Body later went on to gain a cult film status among young women, mainly for leading the pack with what is known as the Monstrous Feminine trope (#feralwomanshit). Gone Girl meets Mean Girls, it is a very fun movie.
