Anthropomorphic art is one of our favourite things, so even though we’ve featured her work a few times already, we still can’t get enough of Nouar’s delightfully disturbing paintings.

The Twitter trending topics worldwide show an interesting trend—outside of Mark O’Mara, most of the people-related topics here are tangential to the Trayvon trial, touching on prior “trial of the century" touchstones (OJ Simpson, Casey Anthony) and other civil rights cases (Emmett Till, Rodney King). Not mentioned? Trayvon Martin or George Zimmerman. (via @nycjim)

One reason some of these names might be relevant is they refer to cases in which the accused were found not guilty of the initial criminal charges but later were found liable for civil damages (OJ) or found guilty of federal charges (some of the cops in the Rodney King case).

It’s almost like they were looking for a way to harass and embarrass only the women in the line, turn away anyone who actually needed those items and didn’t want to give then up, and call attention to the implication that any upset women in the room were just blah blah whatever that time of the month.

But that would be the cynical interpretation.

Artist Johannes Stötter is a fine-art-bodypainter from South Tyrol, Italy who uses his artistry to blend his subjects into their surroundings so well that they all but disappear. His models appear to take on both the colours and textures of their surroundings and sometimes even transform into other creatures or objects, including fruit and vegetables, trees, rocks, and even wildlife.

For example, the photo at the top of this post appears to feature a colourful frog. Look closely and you’ll see that the frog is composed of five different people carefully painted and positioned so that together they become one beautiful amphibian.
