introduction

hi! i'm solstice (or SS, SSC, SC, kind of anything). feel free to send me really anything in asks (patterns, colors, whatever. you can also just talk to me). i am on braceletbook often (username s1llyg00fy) and will usually link patterns (exceptions being if i forgot to save the link or if i made it up). i mostly use this for fiber arts stuff, but you might see a lot of other things. this is the hobby sideblog and it just happens that most of my hobbies are yarn.

if you're interested in posts that could, maybe, count as behind-the-scenes, check out the #ss extra tag on @chromatomica. i mostly post things that i've taken pictures of here, but i'm always just kind of saying things on my main blog. you might find commentary, extra progress pictures, or thoughts i felt the need to post while up too late working on something.

i do: crochet, embroidery, friendship bracelets, origami (not very much), pixel art, and i also like baking a lot but i don't really post about that. i HAVE learned how to knit (i'm bad at it though)

i make a lot of things! many of them go unfinished! i don't know that i've ever taken a picture of a finished friendship bracelet before giving it to someone! it's ok though because i'm just here to have fun :)

i'm really happy with this, actually. i made it longer than i thought i was going to and it turned out pretty well (and i actually finished it about a week ago, but i am, famously, bad at remembering to take pictures)! pattern is 181473, i'm planning on submitting this variation and this picture

i THINK i used dmc 3837, 3722, and 3844, but i'm not entirely sure about that

i wouldn't normally make these with embroidery floss (i usually use rexlace, i don't have any right now), but i think it worked out. i used three strands (one of which was for the loop) and that made it a lot more structurally sound, i think? took me about an hour.

i read hell followed with us (andrew joseph white) the other day and i really wanted to make another one of these. it's been a while, but i actually used to sell these when i was in sixth grade because i liked making them, and it turns out i still do :)

well, my choir director's moving away. so i made him a keychain (i've been thinking about doing this for probably three and a half years and this is the motivation i needed). i think it came out pretty good and i like 2 color alphas SO much more than normal ones

it's a nice pattern. works up pretty fast, i think these two took me about an hour and a half each, but i wasn't really paying attention to anything! they're last-minute birthday presents for my brother and sister :)

so often while making these i think "why would i ever want to do this again" and then i go away for a few minutes and i have a nice shape. and then i think "wow! theres a nice shape here! it wasnt even that hard to make!" and then i don't learn anything

finally finished this bracelet! it's been maybe two years. my other one i was wearing all the time broke a few months back, which apparently didn't make anything more urgent for me? but it's done and i like the colors and it's pretty awesome. pattern is 141682

i'm working on toothless again! trying to remake the green version in black, which is proving to be fine so far. but the only thing i've written down about this is how to make the tail fin, so i'm kinda improvising. it also hasn't been that long since i started.

i just kind of got tired of the green and figured that if it's all freehand anyway, i don't really need to make a sample. i'll figure out the wings eventually. that's a later kyrie problem

so it's been a while! it's almost 2026! but i'm back at it with leaves, and i'm really just making progress where i can. i'll be on a plane on new year's day, so i think i'll probably bring these on that trip. the new hope for this project is probably like april. updates will hopefully be more frequent now!

done sewing the wings on!! i really don’t want to make ears. it was incredibly annoying last year. but today we’re going to buy glow sticks and that’ll be it :)

The Plan as it stands now is to finish these in the next two weeks so i can wear them to school. things are looking good :)

yet again i find myself unable to comprehend time. we’re a little burnt out on the embroidery front, and three of my friends have birthdays in the next week, so i’m working on that right now. eventually i will get these done, you might get a progress picture later today

conveniently these are normal lengths that glowsticks exist in. for now, skewers!

pretty much done!!! i’m gonna actually sew these on later (right now it’s six safety pins), but that’s the only thing left :)
