Finally got some proper photos of my Iruka doll

Entered into a meditative state, forged a cross-stitch pattern, woke up two days later with this incorrigible bastard immortalized in thread
made mothra for a special occassion 🥳
thinking about making it a pattern/getting some pattern testers but there were so many different types of yarn i worked with, and the eyes were 3d printed and dont hold properly because the back parts broke T-T

This finished piece is the outcome of four others that found their home in the trash. Try, try, try again. The idea for it came to me on the verge of sleep—how it always goes, right? Definitely one of my favorite hoops so far. It’s hard to capture it correctly, but you’ll just have to take my word for it.

The duckies are all finally finished! My ducks are in a row, ready to fly out!

100% cotton yarn for 3mm hook in 2 colours
3mm hook
filling
eyes (i used 6mm safety eyes)
little rings (ca. 9 mm)
darning needle
final measurements: ca. 5.5 cm x 3.5 cm x 5.5 cm (lxwxh), excluding ring
eyes between row 6&7, 4 sc in between
in main colour:
1. put your little ring in magic ring. 4 sc before the ring, 4 sc after. (8)
2. inc around (16)
3. *sc, inc* x8 (24)
4-8. sc around (24)
9. *dec, 2 sc* x 6 (18)
10. *dec, sc* x6 (12)
11. 7 inc, ch 5, 4 sc down + 1 sc into base of ch, 5 inc (34)
12. *inc, sc* x4, 6 sc, 5 sc into the back of the chain, 4 sc down, 1 sc into the base stitch, 10 sc (38)
13-15. sc around (38)
16. 21 sc, 2 dec (this is directly below the tip of the tail), 13 sc (36)
17. *2 sc, dec* x3, 9 sc, dec (this is over the 2 dec of row 16), 13 sc (32)
18. *dec, 2 sc* x8 (24), stuff your duckie
19. * sc, dec* x8 (16)
20. dec around (8)
sew closed.
in colour 2:
using surface crochet in between row 7&8 between the eyes.
1. slst on hook, slst, 2 dc, slst, turning ch (4)
2. sc, 2 hdc, sc (4)
cut and sew lose ends in.
