I just read Ken Klippenstein's release of Luigi Mangione's manifesto, as legacy media outlets have decided not to release it. I also just read notes for a Greek and Roman society course. In those notes they have the definition of censor in the original Roman context; "Record the census, and enforce class divisions". The purpose of so many of these institutions is to censor, to enforce class divisions.
regardless of what you think about this whole thing, consider the fact that the cops bumbled around for days doing "forensics" that led nowhere, and then made an arrest based on just some random person's tip.
so why the hell should their budgets be so big? so they can play act CSI?
even if you think this guy just happened to be carrying every single piece of evidence they would ever need to convict, even if you're here saying "well that seems kinda stupid", think: what that says about cops, what that says about their ability to solve crimes against normal people?
trick question, the NYPD publishes their clearance rates. folks, it's not good! it's pretty fucking embarrassing, in fact, given this is apparently a nearly SIX BILLION DOLLAR ANNUAL EXPENSE (and this is a conservative number not counting things like pensions!)
