“Why did you come? I will not let you stay.”
“There is something mysterious in the air this morning.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“It’s a wild, dreary enough place to my mind, though there’s plenty that likes it—particularly when the heather’s in bloom.”
“Could you keep a secret, if I told you one?”
“You do cheer me up. I like to hear you talk.”
“I think you shall be a secret, too.”
“I wasn’t as contrary as they were.”
“Where you tend a rose, a thistle cannot grow”
"Do they take good care of you?"
“Whatever happens, you—you never would tell?”
“I suppose you might as well be told something—to prepare you. You are going to a queer place.”
“What do you do in your cottage when it rains like this?”
“I wish I could go to sleep before you leave me...”
“You ought to have gone to the hills two weeks ago.”
“Do you want me to kiss you?”
“They may drag me in but they can't make me talk when they get me here.”
“I shall lose my place working here—I shall for sure!”
“I turned round the wrong corner, I didn’t know which way to go.”
“So long as I know what’s expected of me, I can manage.”
“Where is home?”
“I’ll come every day if tha' wants me, rain or shine.”
“Springtime’s comin'. Can't you smell it?”
“You're a good bit stronger than you were; you're beginning to look different.”
“You smell like flowers and—and fresh things. What is it you smell of? It's cool and warm and sweet all at the same time.”
“I'm so happy I can scarcely breathe!”
“People never like me, and I never like people.”
“You are just what I—what I wanted.”
“Perhaps I have been all wrong. Ten years is a long time. It may be too late to do anything—quite too late. What have I been thinking of?”
“Now, it need not be a secret any more.”
“I shall come back this afternoon.”
“Do you understand everything birds say?”
“You are prettier than anything else in the world.”
“I have no friends at all, I never had.”
“I wonder if they are all quite dead, is it all a quite dead garden?”
“I had never seemed to really be anyone’s little girl.”
“What! You thought I was a what?!”
“The thought of that pleases me very much.”
“I packed her small trunk and made the journey.”
“The house is six hundred years old and it’s on the edge of the moor, and there’s near a hundred rooms in it, though most of them’s shut up and locked.”
“I have nothing—and no one.”
“There’ll be a fountain o’ roses here this summer.”
“Come with me and I’ll show you.”
“You remind me of some one else who loved the earth and things that grow.”
“Shut your eyes. I will stroke your hand and sing something quite low until you fall asleep.”
“Did you feel as if you hated people?”
“I wish I were friends with things, but I'm not. I never had anything to be friends with, and I can't bear people.”
“Would you like me to sing you that song I learned when I was little?”
“The servants are not allowed to speak about me”
“That isn't the wind. It is different.”
“Who are you? Are you a ghost?”
“You are real, aren't you? I have such real dreams very often. You might be one of them.”
“If there was a door, hidden somewhere under the ivy—if there was—and we could find it.”
“Someone has died.”
“It makes it easier. I don't like havin' to hide things.”
“Why does nobody come?”
“It is a queer, pretty place! It’s as if you were in a dream.”
“I said I would never go back again— but perhaps —”
“He's a common cottage boy off the moor!”
“I’ve no patience with folk that sit and just stare at good bread and meat and let it go to waste.”
“Why does it make you angry when you are looked at?”
“The rain is as contrary as I ever was. It came because it knew I did not want it.”
“Besides, she is mine and I don't want every one to see her.”
“I will come as often as I can.”
“Come in, I've been thinking about you all morning.”
“Sometimes when I open my eyes I don't believe I'm awake.”
“Don't let us talk about dying; I don't like it. Let us talk about living.”
“Why was I forgotten?”
“Do you think he will die?”
“I want to do it before the sun goes quite—quite down.”
“It would not be wise to try to stop me, I am going.”
“Do you know who I am?”
“Let's hope they're changing for the better, [name].”
“I am always better when you are with me.”
“You did not say the illness had broken out among your servants.”
“I heard there was a child, though no one ever saw her.”
“It was in that strange and sudden way that I found out that I had neither father nor mother left.”
“You are going to be sent home at the end of the week.”
“Have you to do what I please or have you not?”
“When first we got in here, it seemed like everything was grey. Look round now and tell me if thou doesn't see a difference.”
“I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do, I can't bear it.”
“You don’t know anything.”
“I'm always thinking about it—but we couldn't go on like this much longer. I can't stand lying still and pretending.”
“They are always whispering about it and thinking I don't notice.”
“I know what you want me to tell you. I always know when you want me to tell you something”
“Who is coming in here? Who is it?”
“If you scream another scream, I'll scream too—and I can scream louder than you can!”
“You see we can't help laughing nearly all the time when we are together.”
“There's no one left to come.”
“I will try to find the key, I will try to open the door. I must—though I don't know why.”
“Why? Because those children have scarcely ever had their stomachs full in their lives.”
“I won't have people whispering and asking questions.”
“I will not let any one know where I go”
“He ought to be stopped! Somebody ought to make him stop!”
“Are you making Magic?”
“I am not going to be a poor thing. I won't let people think I'm one.”
“I shall send for you sometimes to help—but you must come when no one can see you.”

a collection of scenarios & interactions appropriate for period/medieval rp. specify muse where needed, add "FIRST" if this would be their first time interacting, and switch sender/receiver to change roles. + part one.
[ broken solace ] the sender, searching for a quiet area, accidentally disturbs the receiver in their own moment of solace.
[ get off the road! ] the sender knows that some bandits/thieves are coming down the road, and drags the receiver into the nearby brush to protect them.
[ slippery slope ] winter setting! the sender grabs onto the receiver's arm to avoid losing their balance on an icy patch of ground.
[ wild berries ] our muses run into each other whilst one, or both, are picking wild berries.
[ lost my way ] the sender spots the receiver, who seems lost, and approaches to ask if they need help finding their way.
[ STOP ! ] the receiver hears the sender's voice yell out, warning the receiver that they are about to step into an animal trap sender has set.
[ mistaken identity ] the sender approaches the receiver, about to start a conversation, before stopping and saying, "oh, i'm sorry, i thought you were someone else..."
[ can you reach that? ] the shorter of our two muses asks the taller to reach a piece of fruit from a tree, or something from a higher shelf, etc.
[ work for food / board ] the sender asks the receiver if they can work for a hot meal and a place to sleep for the night.
[ ripped and torn ] the receiver has a torn garment, and the sender offers to stitch/repair it for them.
[ hottest day yet ] the sender strips of their clothes and is enjoying a swim to cool off, after a moment they realise they are not alone when they spot the receiver.
[ a storm on the horizon ] dark clouds roll in, the wind picks up, and the receiver hears a knock at their door. the sender is there, asking for shelter as the rain begins.
[ follow the smoke ] the sender follows the sight/smell of smoke, worried a fire may threaten them, and instead comes across the campsite of the receiver.

@halfgigas SENT "YOU CRIED A LITTLE WHEN THE SOUP WAS TOO HOT TO EAT YET. I PRETENDED NOT TO NOTICE."
lips remain agape for lynorra, apples of her fair cheeks flush vermillion with the rush of blood ere long a palm comes to drag 'ver her tired visage. sickness has been lingering and casting its long shadow on her , reckons the stag , yet no effort is made to carry her weary form to the doctor's. ‘tis just a spell afterall is it not ? a stomach bug haply , worse a wrong cocktail on the weekend. in and out of consciousness she has been all morning. the aforementioned soup was haply last night’s tale.
❝ did i now ... ❞ her voice hoarse after slumber had her snared in its grasp for hours on end, the words scraping dry against her teeth. and brows raise skywards in an attempt to relive the ice pick that's jammed betwixt her brows. duncan's seen her completely knackered after a bottle tequilla and a mix of something far worse on christmas last year and never did lynorra think she'd reel back from that, but this feels worse somehow, and once again there's a wave of nausea washing over her , a sudden , sour heat rising fromwith her stomach like a tide ⸻ just as it has all week long.
❝ 'm glad you didn't notice, ❞ with strain do the heels of her palms dip into the mattress to sit straighter. ❝ not my best week ⸻ been like this for a while actually not just a week ⸻ im so tired , fuck ⸻ i can't even stand the smell of eggs or meat or anything maybe that's why i cried because i love eggdrop soup ⸻ ❞
