         she gets the feeling that he wasn’t entirely listening to her royal rant due to him skimming over whatever was on that paper , but elects to yell at him for it some other time considering that he seems somewhat interested in some of what she had to say . she looks him up and down several times as if she were assessing his value , but it’s really just her trying to stall as her brain struggled to come up with a believable answer .

         “ what’s it called ? well, uh … it’s … calllllled … something that your human tongue can’t begin to pronounce . ” she says, her voice with semi-convincing confidence . “ why does it matter ? just eat it, fool. i promise it’s worth your while. ” 

                  he  gives  a  huff  of  a  laugh  as  a  response  to  her  underestimation  of  him  ,  fingers  tapping  lightly  against  the  chipping  wood  of  the  table  as  cat  -  like  eyes  simply  watch  her  .  with  night  falling  soon  ,  he’d  have  to  head  out  to  the  site  of  the  attack  mentioned  in  the  contract  unless  he  wanted  to  wait  a  whole  day  ———   which  he  did  not  .  still  ,  he  wasn’t  sure  how  to  go  about  the  job  with  this  little  one  dragging  him  down  .  surely  she  could  be  fine  here  for  a  few  hours  ?  something  in  him  doubted  that  severely  simply  based  on  what  little  he  knew  of  her  .  gaze  falls  from  the  demon  only  when  he  collects  a  dirty  rag  from  his  pockets  &  unsheathes  a  silver  sword  ,  the  metal  glinting  in  the  daylight  that  filtered  in  through  the  gaps  in  the  wood  of  the  abandoned  hut  they’d  called  their  camp  .  ‘  human  ,  she  says  .  ‘  the  witcher  chuckles  again  ,  hand  gliding  the  rag  against  dirtied  silver  .  ‘  if  you  wish  to  tag  along  any  longer  ,   hurry  up  &  finish  your  meal  .  otherwise  ,  i’ll  be  leaving  you  here  .  ‘

         truth be told , this wasn’t actually as precious a delicacy that remi claimed it to be ; it was merely a pound of raw meat that she had managed to grow eyes on . humiliating others helped her cope with her even more humiliating situation , and who would be a better target than the famed geralt of rivia ? time to amp up the act . “ by eating this , you will become a greater man . how could you possibly even attempt to reject this opportunity that i have so graciously bestowed upon you !? ”

                  any  soul  brave  enough  to  come  slay  this  beast  will  be  reward  by  the  village  of   ———  oh  ,  she  was  talking  to  him  again  .  for  a  moment  ,  he  wondered  how  much  he’d  missed  then  realized  it  probably  wasn’t  important  to  begin  with  so  mentally  the  worry  was  shrugged  off  .  ‘  well  ,  excuse  me  ,  i  didn’t  know  i  was  dealing  with  a  princess  .  rather  easy  to  mistake  you  just  another  child  .  ‘  

                  folding  the  paper  up  ,  the  contract  is  slipped into  a  pocket  though  it’s  contents  are  still  being  reviewed  in  his  mind  .  there  wasn’t  much  to  go  off  of  to  try  &  figure  out  what  the  beast  was  meaning  he’d  have  to  ask  around  when  he  got  there  .  well  ,  if  he  got  there  .  at  the  rate  she  was  dragging  him  down  ,  he  might  just  have  to  retire  early  .  leaving  someone  like  her  on  there  own  ?  she’d  be  on  a  pyre  in  no  time  &  that  thought  didn’t  sit  well  with  him  ,  regardless  of  how  annoying  she  is  .
