personally? i enjoy being a fan of characters who have done Wrong. i like when a character is not a perfect victim, has hurt people, has transgressed, has done bad things. sometimes its nice to feel the sting yknow? and to recognize that a character is not a flawless perfect victim, but is deserving of understanding and compassion anyway. a lot of people in fandom refuse to let go of moral absolutism and its... rough.
dear lord, please take all life problems and responsibilities away from fanfic writers but also make them financially stable and happy with nothing to worry about so they can happily focus on writing and posting fanfiction. amen

I LOVE this section for multiple reasons
The animation. Stunning. Flawless. LOOK at his jacket swaying with every movement. Look at him blocking and dodging attacks with such FEAR. Eugene has always had such a unique way of being animated, even since the movie, and every time I watch it never fails to amaze me.
This section is also an amazing sense of Eugene as a character. The thing is, it’s never deliberately stated, but we KNOW the things “Cass” are telling him are things he’s sensitive about. The entire episode he’s very self conscious about his goatee instead of having a mustache like everyone else seems to think is cooler, which almost feels like it’s implying these Cassandra clones can sense insecurities. Which, if that’s the case, does that mean Eugene is scared of Rapunzel leaving him? It makes sense, honestly. At this point in the series he’s been declined twice. He probably really DOES worry about losing her. But the thing is, he doesn’t show it. While being attacked you can see him panicking, but the second the clones start talking shit he puts on this confident and joking mask. Like all we know about his personality, the confidence, (to some extent) the vanity, it’s all a facade to hide an insecure man, used to having no one in his life and scared of losing the only person to see a good person in him.
