no, like imagine Steven Grant is doing side jobs after he gets fired from the museum. He eventually applies every side jobs and maybe he get accepted to be an english tutors or just british dialects tutor or fine maybe even history tutor. Oh God, I wouldn't be able to focus on anything and I would feel bad because he keeps apologizing since he thought he doesn't explain the lesson good enough.

first time posting my artwork and it's my first steven art ! I know, I know, I cannot capture his loveliness, but in my defense, this project is mainly for my art study. I try to practices identifying face strutures depths, value shadows, etc etc. Some of the part is not fully rendered, so yeah, I'll do better next time
the uwu smol bean-ification of (MCU) steven grant is genuinely the most infuriating part of the mk fandom to me. (especially when it includes treating that as feminine, which… what is your problem?) so even though it’s much better now than it was a couple years ago, i still want to talk about it, because i find it to be pretty fucking shitty. (under the cut is the longest post i’ve ever made, you’ve been warned.)
steven grant is a competent adult man. steven has a job and lives alone. he’s actually kind of a dick sometimes (especially early on)! he is more assertive and more sure of and committed to his own boundaries than marc is. he doesn’t feel the need to suppress his emotions or express them through violence.
he is not a baby. he is not weak. and crucially, he does not need marc to protect him. that is the thesis of the show.
every time we see steven being “weak/fragile” is either him having a perfectly normal emotional reaction and not suppressing it, or a symptom of disability.
he is not coming in late for work because he can’t handle himself, he’s doing it because marc keeps using the body when they’re meant to be asleep. he is not awkward around people because he is a dumb little baby, he is being deliberately portrayed as autistic.
their memories are not hidden from him because they need to be. marc concealing half of their life from him without his consent far into their adulthood, including physically restraining steven from knowing the truth, is wrong. it’s understandable, and i’m not saying marc is bad for it—for a lot of their lives, he had to—but he is wrong to refuse steven agency all the way until they’re forty.
because steven can handle the memories. he can live through the memories of being screamed at and beaten and watching their brother drown, and still be able to turn to marc and tell him that it wasn’t his fault.
i think the insistence of fandom (in general) of emasculating/feminizing/infantalizing men in media who portray healthy expressions of non-violent emotions is pretty fucking sexist. we can’t keep begging for portrayals of healthy masculinity and then react to them by refusing to see those characters as capable adult men.
i like that steven is softer than marc, for the record. i like that he’s sensitive. i’m not even saying it’s inherently bad to fem steven, or treat him like a cute blorbo. like, it’s fandom, you can have fun, l-rd knows i’ve been guilty of drawing my fav in a skirt.
but why are we only/primarily infantalizing and feminizing him? why the headmate who shows the most disability symptoms, who expresses his emotions, who will act with kindness and sensitivity no matter what’s thrown at him?
steven is gentle, he’s brave, he’s anxious, he’s optimistic, he’s funny, he’s kind, he smiles, he cries, and he’s an adult man who can handle himself. and i really like him for that. i think it’s worth appreciating.
