“It works, thank you”, Judy said before taking the painkiller and swallowing it with the water. She went on to carefully unwrap one of the bars, trying to not move the hand on the hurt arm unneccessarily to not disturb the wound.
Judy raised both her eyebrows slightly in surprise when she saw Lexaeus, who so far had been looking at her warm but rather serious, smile, and she happily returned it before biting into her granola bar satisfied. They sat quietly eating for some moments, before Lexaeus asked her if she was a freshman.
“Yes, I am!”, she said. “Criminology, criminal justice and law.” She took another bite and swallowed before continuing. “You probably wonder what I’m doing in the Oathkeeper dorms. I bought a used textbook from one of the juniors here”, she went on to explain. “What about you?”
lexaeus thoughtfully nodded, glad his guess was right. he wasn’t stupid, of course, and he had picked up on how out of place and tiny the girl had seemed in the oathkeeper dorm staircase. how embarrassing it would be for her to end up being older than appearance, for the giant man prided himself on not judging people by their appearance.
not only was she tiny and a freshman, but she was into criminology. interesting. the auburn-haired man raised an eyebrow at the statement in intrigue, not judging at all. he was sure this tiny thing could pack a mean punch if needed. and at the moment, he didn’t feel like testing that.
“ you like that kind of stuff? “ he simply questioned, genuinely wondering what got her interesting in a subject like that.
“ senior. technical theatre, architecture. “
