The easle-side table of Modernist painter Albert Bloch. He was the only American to hang his work in the first Der Blaue Reiter exhibition in Munich in 1911, and is thus an important link between American and European Modernism even before the 1913 Armory Show. His papers, which will soon be acquired by the Archives, include letters with artists like Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, and Franz Marc.
If this is real, it needs to be in my bookshelf. Now.
