he hates that he tenses up, eyes widening the slightest bit, when benji walks through the door. actually, scratch that, he fucking loathes it. he loathes him. quickly, kaiko schools his features and returns them to a more neutral expression. he’s always in control, even when it comes to the minuscule details, and this will be no different. benji is no different; he’s just a dude. albeit, he’s a beautiful dude. actually, he’s every synonym for beautiful in the human language; handsome, alluring, good-looking, attractive, pretty… and that’s the one that really gets him. boys aren’t supposed to be pretty. his father said so.
but, then, why is benji pretty? it was unfair and it was driving him crazy. he wants to scream at him, wants to invite him to fight just so he can rearrange all of his features into something ugly, but he doesn’t. won’t. “why wouldn’t i be?” he bites back, reply harsh. he says it like the other boy was the one who dragged him in here, not the other way around. there’s something mean on the tip of his tongue, something brewing in the back of his mind, but when he opens his mouth all he can say is, “who was that guy you were dancing with?” and he shouldn’t care. he really shouldn’t care. kaiko tells himself that he doesn’t and that’s good enough for him.
“and since when do you come to elysium?” he blurts out, the questions following one after the other as if he were cursed with word vomit. “shouldn’t you, i don’t know, be stacking books or something?” he asks. god, it’s stupid, he’s stupid. he doesn’t even know what he’s saying or what he’s doing. like, really, what the hell is he doing? he should just leave. but, because he’s some kind of masochist, he actually just moves closer. he pushes away from the sink and takes a few steps towards the other until the tips of their shoes are almost touching. “did you come all the way over to gangnam just for a chance to fuck my fiancé again?”
with a shake of his head, benji knits his brows slightly. “nothing, i just thought–” he pauses at the question, “he’s just– some guy.” it was’t as bad as it sounded, but somehow, it made him sound... cheap. “i met him when i came, bought me a drink, that’s all.” benjamin kept his gaze on the other, honestly, he was just confused. he doesn’t know what was kaiko’s issue and he didn’t want to– can’t be bothered to bring up the other’s tone at all.
what the other said next was what annoyed him. he was usually calm, he always had been, but the questions were starting to piss him off. “why can’t i?” he simply asks, “i don’t know about you but i kinda have a life outside work.” he presses his lips in a thin line, “if you’re not happy about it, why couldn’t you say no?” benji further closes the gap, if that was even possible, “i don’t know... maybe i came all the way here to find you.” it was purely a coincidence, but it was probably the alcohol talking over him.
