HAPPY [WTT]'S DAY!

five years old today [🎉]

it was a good year.

like a wild doe, i would flinch and freeze, scrutinizing the space in an attempt to discern a threat. i was wary of every shadow. but in this forest there are predators no more. because i had already ripped all their throats out and my caution was really just about worrying whether i'd left anyone in the massacre behind. no i hadn't :)

i am really sorry that i've been drawing less this year. the reasons for that roll up into a ball so big one could knit a sweater of issues and excuses. an oversized one. i never wear itchy clothes. the new year brings no magical respite - i'll go on fighting my human battles outside the walls of pink, resting my hope not on a miracle but on myself and my strength. which means the following for the Palace: > regularity abolished: new pictures will be displayed in the order of their natural appearance > [WTT] remains on hiatus > i go on an indefinite hiatus*

*but only on the face of it. this year i started working on a [project]. a big and important one. i tried to juggle the [project] and my regular illustrations but it was no good: instead of concentrating on one thing at a time i ended up interminably splitting my time and attention between the two. therefore, i'm taking a break to keep my eye on the [ball].

i still have a myriad of visions i'm craving to share - and if you do not resist the unstable liminality of time in the Palace but let it flow right through your core instead, then we are sure to meet at one of its crossroads.

thank you for staying in the Palace this year. thank you for choosing to stay for another one.

to mark the celebration end i've got a special gift - the very first Octoberly scan. i have never shown it before so this is the first time all ten witches are gathered together.

this year's Octoberly is a redraw of Octoberly the first. the end of the cycle is but a new phase.

we're celebrating quite a milestone with Octoberly - she turned ten this autumn! ten! i can hardly believe it myself. a charming, kind and a little bit silly witch, my autumn ever-present companion.

i treasure every picture, and yet the first, the third, the fifth, the eighth and the ninth hold a special place in my heart. this year's Octoberly is beyond evaluation - it's always hard to remain impartial towards the new one. but there's one thing i can say about her for sure - Octoberly is smiling again, and that means everything's all right.
