Drawing Den’s Top Ways to Stay Creative

Thanks to followers who left suggestions!

Carry a notebook everywhere and jot down ideas as they come, even if it’s just a word or feeling.

Surround your workspace with things that inspire you, especially your favorite artists work.

Get out of the house and look for new things, the same four walls can only inspire you so much.

Try new music and read good books when traveling and let your mind roam.

Set goals and challenge yourself with checklists of what you want to improve, you can also try challenges set by online communities.

Look after yourself and make sure you get plenty of rest, your brain needs energy to work!

Surround yourself with creative people and get feedback on your work.

Keep your sketchbook on you at all times and spend any free time sketching out ideas and observations.

Make a scrapbook or blog for stashing things that you find interesting to look through for ideas later.

Try new things and don’t be afraid to make mistakes, beating yourself up won’t get you anywhere.

Go to a new place and take in your surroundings and the faces of people around you.

Take a break to have some tea or coffee and look out the window for a while.

Create different scenarios and ideas with your original characters and illustrate them.

Put your pencil to paper and just draw the first thing that comes to mind and go from there.

Remember not to force it and stress yourself out, inspiration will come.

China’s law states that if drivers cripple someone you have to pay for their related expenses for the rest of their lives

If a driver accidentally kills someone they only have to pay for their funeral

A mix of reasons allow people to consistently get off, or have small fines and sentences, by claiming that it was an accident or that they thought it was a bag of trash instead of a person.

Corrupt officials, previous lack of cameras, precedented cases, all lead to a cultural phenomenon where people instantly know carrying through for a kill will reduce the penalties they face across the board.

This is regularly horrific. People start with an actual accident, then drive over the person 2, 3, 7 times. Sometimes slowly to make sure.

One woman only received a murder conviction because after driving over the person she got out of the car and stabbed the victim with a knife to be sure.

A documented accident didn’t even injure a little boy, he was walking away to pick up his umbrella when the driver drove over him out of fear they had injured him and needed to kill to avoid the penalties.

The people of China are crying out over this madness. As even with video evidence and eye-witnesses people still don’t get charged with murder. The government has passed laws to try and change this practice. Yet it continues.

Good intentions can never take into account the worst of human behavior. The law to pay for people’s care after injuring them sounds like a good idea. The person that caused the injury cares for the person they hurt. But a sick part of all of us has led to trying to get out of this in the most horrific of ways.
