@sillygooseesquire
how insidious to make young girls buy hundreds of dollars worth of makeup, to force them to read up on its theory, to make them practice it for hours in order to escape mockery, to make them feel safe only when performing this hyper femininity, and then to even have the audacity to package it in feminist language so that they firmly believe it sets them free.
who called you out on your sloppy wings
I know you probably think you’re really witty, but I just want you to know that you, and all the other people who made that joke, prove my point exactly.
I'm sitting second chair on two trials in September, and the first chair attorney is the most incompetent lazy asshole I've ever worked with.
I was up until 2am and then stayed after work until 6pm today fixing all the problems on his stupid motion in limine responses that are due TONIGHT at midnight. He just threw the other party's motions into ChatGPT and then didn't edit or cite check a goddamn thing!
We got these motions two weeks ago but he went MIA on a weeklong vacation and didn't even start working on them until Monday, and I wasn't added to the case until WEDNESDAY, so I've had to spend the last 48 hours ignoring all of my other cases to try to get this shit done in time
Then he had the fucking nerve to call me at 5:39pm and say "Yeah this isn't what I want to be doing on a Friday afternoon either." BITCH WE ARE IN THIS SITUATION. BECAUSE OF YOU.
talking about stuff like prison reform or the SO registry really quickly makes you realize how many peoples political ideology boils down to "look, just tell me who the bad people are so I know who we should be killing."
You wake up one day and discover you've lost control over a random action or feeling!
Spin the wheel to find out what!
How bad is it?
Actually way better than before!
Its good
It's alright
It's annoying but I'll be fine
It's pretty bad
IM DEAD
worse than death
Nothing changes/results

It is time once again to post my favorite part of the Song of Songs:
My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him.
I rose up to open to my beloved; and my hands dripped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock.
Which is, of course, about the covenant between G-d and the Jewish people.
as a teen growing up in a conservative christian household I had to go attend this class called "Marriage and the Family" and the teacher used verses from Song of Solomon to say that christian husbands have a duty to give their wives oral sex. Note that he didn't say the same thing about women..so shoutout verses 4:16-5:1 of song of solomon I guess?
"Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind! Blow upon my garden, let its spices flow. Let my beloved come to his garden, and eat its choicest fruits.
I came to my garden, my sister, my bride, I gathered my myrrh with my spice, I ate my honeycomb with my honey, I drank my wine with my milk. Eat, friends, drink, and be drunk with love!"
This has probably been said before but I think for straight women a lot of the allure of vampires vis a vis twilight and similar stories is that straight women are already aware that their male partners are also kinda their apex predator
Like the person statistically most likely to kill them is their intimate partner.
Dating a vampire just takes the elephant in the room and drags it right into the center of the story. Yes this man can kill you but you have to trust that he loves you enough to not do that, and yet he would never do that even if it's in his nature. Yes he's powerful and he has strong emotions and he's jealous and aggressive but the nature of the story is that he would never ever hurt you. Even though you're very aware that he could.
This post was specifically inspired by the line "First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him-and I didn’t know how potent that part might be-that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him."
Like what an interesting thing, to be admitting that this man is a potential threat to you by nature of what he is, that you do not and to a certain extent cannot know how big that danger is, and then to say that you are in love with him anyway.

affirmations they will not kill me at work today. it is not in my job description to get killed. if they did kill me at work that would be weird and probably not worth it for them

i still find it so genuinely Weird when i think about the fact that fat people irl are a rather common occurrence. your family, your friends, your coworkers, people on the bus, random passerbys - there are fat people there. usually often. but when you look at Any form of media - movies, tv shows, video games, books are more complicated as not a visual medium but there too, fat people are almost nonexistent. one fat person for the whole movie. one fat person in the background of your fictional city. this is so insanely unrealistic but at the same time nobody comments on this and "we" accept it as normal!! and then people even think their own fatness makes them into some rare failure instead of one of the incredibly common body situations. crazy
