I watched a video of a couple of influencers discussing beauty standards; chief among them being the pressure to stay thin, although the discussion was a bit all over the place because they wasted a lot of time (in my opinion) on the way that they exercise. And as the video progressed (it's over an hour long) I was thinking... ok, where is this going... this is clearly going nowhere... yes, it went nowhere. Because I can't take someone seriously if all they do is regurgitate platitudes about like... idk wtf they were talking about, like how now it's trendy again to be thin whereas there was a parenthesis of Kardashian curves being in (which, let me remind you, is no different from being thin)... and that it's good to have different types of physiques being represented by influencers, especially if it's to promote values like fitness and perseverance... One of them had a moment of discernment when she said that it needed to be analyzed how beauty was associated with goodness (she's a philosophy teacher, I guess it comes with the job) but that's it... How can you make any solid argument without bringing up economic imperatives or heterosexuality... How can you spend more than an hour talking in circles and basically saying NOTHING???
