if you're casually memeing and joking and celebrating the people who are lost in the Titan sub, you're trashy and need to go tf outside. Idc if they're rich, they're still people. Maybe take three seconds to get outside of your own little bubble and try and imagine what the fuck they're going through, and then imagine yourself in that situation, and maybe you'll realize how shitty you sound. Thousands of meters in the ocean depths. Freezing. Hungry. Thirsty. Cramped. Scared. Literally looking death in the face. If you don't feel terror and horror at that then there's something wrong with you, sorry not sorry.

You can recognize how stupid and silly the whole thing was, with the unfinished unsafe vessel, the controls being a Logitech controller, etc, but don't fucking joke about people dying. You can also be critical of the rich and what they do. But don't wish death on these people or celebrate their terror. You're not funny, you're not cool, you're not edgy. You're just shitty.

I've been seeing so many people talking about the whole oceangate/submarine thing like it's a really funny joke, and it's kind of been starting to rub me the wrong way. (I think the final straw was a fandom post debating which horror podcast monster it fits with.... 💀)

Sure, it's ironic and fuck the rich or whatever. But at the end of the day, is people getting crushed inside a tin can THAT funny? Is it really just some cool thing to make into a fandom post? Some of these memes and posts I've seen just feel really out of touch, I think. I think we should feel a little more sad and disheartened that human hubris allowed history to repeat itself like this (all while those migrants drowned, too) vs laughing at rich people signing up for an early grave :/
