[dipping his paws on a lake there's a silver-colored hedgehog sitting in the middle of the forest, he looks... concerned, there's cuff-like golden rings on his ankles, as well as his wrists]

*there are some bright green eyes watching from the shadows*

[he sighs, looking around before standing up, walking further into the lake and sitting down slowly, he yelps when the cold water touches his tail, and then his torso and back.]

[he takes a deep breath, and the water begins to glow from his hands outwards, the hedgehog closes his eyes and frowns]

focus...

[the glow of the water focuses around his hands which form a cup under the surface of the water... slowly, that zone begins to bubble slightly.]

it worked!

[the water bursts upwards from his sudden reaction and the glow fades away from both it and the hedgehog]

Ow-ow-ow-ow too hot!

*the green eyes materialize into a hedgehog shape as the water around Silver grows noticeably darker and returns to a reasonable temperature*

huh? that feels nice... did... it actually work?

[the hedgehog looks confused but... he's going to let himself have this little moment. Too much has happened the past months, he wants at least one last happy moment before the storm]

[he rests his head on his quills, keeping his face over the surface and looking upwards]

I wonder how everyone else is...

*he's just watching from the sidelines, before making a little motion with his hand. The dark water responds, just gently swaying Silver back and forth*

[silver closes his eyes]

this feels... so... familiar...

[he lets himself enjoy this moment... and for Mephiles a familiar presence beats like a heart from within Silver. A very familiar one, almost like his own, and yet entirely different, entirely... Silver's.]

[he opens his eyes and stands up looking confused, splashing at the water]

*he hasn't felt this in...so long. That almost presence, almost the heat that compliments his dark, cold night. He closes his eyes for a moment, but even so is completely aware when Silver stands up, the dark water not splashing quiiiite the right way, like it's thicker than it should be. But he also doesn't move, just a quiet dark hedgehog on the side of the lake.*

...maybe it was just my imagination...

[but now he notices the dark water and splashes around more]

w-what-???

[he stands upright and begins to turn around trying to spot anything else unusual, all the relaxation he had accomplished giving it for more anxious panic in fear of having fallen into a trap like a rabbit falling for a hunter's trick.]

*the dark water dissipates, all the shadows retreating back to Mephiles, who finally sighs through his nose and opens his eyes*

[silver locks his eyes on the other... hedgehog. his quills visibly go down a little and relaxes again]

oh... it's, you... Mephiles, was it?

[silver smiles a faintly, he recognizes this person, they had a short encounter a while ago]

... where... you... did you... make the water... change?

Yes. It's me.

And yes, I did.

*short, simple, to the point answers. He doesn't blink at all, just green eyes staring*

[he begins to walk out of the water, his fur still dripping.]

May... May I ask... what were you doing with... it?

[he smiles awkwardly... while fighting against his guts telling him to make an excuse and leave]

Ensuring that you didn't get scalded. It seemed like your telekinetic abilities overcompensated slightly when you were heating the water.

*not mentioning the part where he essentially rocked him in his arms from a distance, nope*

It is an art form that takes many years to perfect; you created the heat, adding the energy in. I simply tamed it, taking energy away, which is far easier to accomplish in such a case as this, when the water already wishes to return to its natural state.

[the glow of the water focuses around his hands which form a cup under the surface of the water... slowly, that zone begins to bubble slightly.]

[the water bursts upwards from his sudden reaction and the glow fades away from both it and the hedgehog]
