Asgore suffered a lot when toriel leave him... In some way (even if he doesn't want to admit it) he hates her for make him past for something like that....

But in reality he is glad that she doesn't stayed for see how he becomes in the monster that ordered to open the fire to a kingdom full of innocent people and the humans that he calls the enemy.

The Humans attacked First... They take away the life of his sons and hurt a lot tho his people... He needs to do something about it.... If humans were looking for war, they got it ...

Asgore is a monster of an affectionate and calm nature, although quite stubborn, he is usually someone really nice and always puts the interests of others over his own ...

The priority will always be his kingdom before him or his life in general ... although he appears Outwardly being someone formidable, inwardly he is really tired of everything, however since he lost his family completely, the only thing he has left is his kingdom and he will do everything he can to make them have a normal life again, even if that means dying in the process.

Can you even imagine how hard is for someone like him take with a responsibility like that?... He's on the edge of the collapse ... His unique Pillar emotional is undyne, the girl that he practically saw grow and calls his daughter... In someway.
