did you guys know that when you are in bed at night time, you can turn on a lamp, put a really soft blanket around your shoulders and read your book?? and sometimes it will rain??? did you know that???? the wonders of this life do not cease!
You don't have to force yourself to bounce back so quickly. I read something recently that said "when you come in from a rainstorm, you don't expect yourself to be dry and warm right away", and it really resonated with me. It's okay to take time to dry off and warm up. Take the time you need to process what happened to you.
*through gritted teeth* the world is GOOD. people are kind. Humans are NOT inherently selfish. you will make it through this year. recovery is possible. people you don't know yet will love you. You are going to do things you can't even imagine right now. You are going to read a rlly good book. You are going to eat some rlly good food. You are going to experience joy again. Things can get better. Situations can change. You can choose to be kinder. The world can change for the better.
Okay so I finished throne of glass series. After having nearly DNF'd the throne of glass book 1 and only having continued thanks to 2 tumblr users I want to say - it gets better. I literally have not regretted reading this series a single time & I ended up loving it!
What to read next??? (NO, I do not fall for the acotar propaganda)
People often ask me how I balance my dayjob career, leading a football club, coaching and freelancing as a psychologist in professional esports and I will say something like quality time with the family or spending time in nature or hanging out with friends but the truth is very simple
Smut.
Okay guys I need someone to tell me what makes you love the Throne of glass series so much? I am through ca. 40% of the first book and I just havent fallen in love as much as I thought I should based on the positive reviews and hype it gets... i want to continue reading(!) But wether the worldbuilding, nor the relationships or the plot have really done it for me as much so far. Does it get better or do I just not understand it?
Okay so thanks to the 2 peeps who commented on this, I kept going and breezed through book 2 and 1/3 of the third book already and I have to admit - it gets SO MUCH BETTER!!
I am still missing the emotional connection personally, but it is definitely exciting and the plot is plotting so thank you so much for encouraging me to continue :)
you've gotta be kind to yourself no matter what
this is twice as true in the winter
the world isn't ending and you don't need to kill yourself it's literally december. it's december. and you need to be nice to yourself.
Very stupid that I can't take the muscles out of my neck & upper back & beat them with a meat tenderizer. I think that would fix me

in 2026 DO NOT ask yourself whether your art is GOOD
instead ask:
is it SINCERE
was it CATHARTIC
was it FUN TO MAKE
is it MADE BY ME
and don't forget to stay silly

as you get more into the series (around queen of shadows, maybe heir of fire) it starts to get insanely good
i am a firm believer that you shouldn’t have to get halfway through a series before you start enjoying it. and me personally i loved it from the very first page. so don’t feel like you have to like something if you don’t.
that being said
throne of glass does get insanely good after the first few books. if you started with assassin’s blade and you are having that experience, i would say start with throne of glass instead. i dnf’d assassin’s blade three times before i just skipped it and went to throne of glass and it made a world of a difference. me PERSONALLY i wish i had read it after crown of midnight instead of after heir of fire but that’s just me.
just pointing out i read TaB after HoF also and i didnt really see a difference, but i get where your coming from
i just feel like hof leaves off in such a cliffhanger that it is hard to jump into the past (at least it was for me). and by com you already know enough to jump into tab
but i mean i totally agree that it can really be read at any point and still be enjoyed without changing anything much
Thank you. I have hope yet! Want to clarify I started with throne of glass, NOT assassins blade.
I do think I reached a point where the prologue (competition) is over and maaaybe the true plot can start. I just struggle with the teased (love-)triangle and the depth of emotions described so far. The characters should be feeling a lot and deeply, but it does not translate to me. I want to laugh and cry with my books and up to this point I just have not connected.
Again, maybe this is a mere writing style preference thing..
