On Mamo-chan and the girls

So, next to his integration into the Tsukino household, Crystal shows us another really nice dynamic in its Infinity Arc:

Mamoru is THERE.The girls are hanging out at the arcade? Mamoru is with them. We’re out stalking magazines to see if Haruka is mentioned anywhere? Mamoru is right there. Team meetings in the Senshi Command Central? Mamoru. is. there.

And even besides that… He and Usagi are basically joined at the hip. Asanuma overhears Mamoru and Usagi talking at the Fruit Parlor. Chibi-Usa runs off from having seen Hotaru’s cyberkinetic body? Guess who she just happens to run into. Sailor Moon is reminded of the tragedy of the Sailor Millennium? Guess whose arms immediately fly around her.

And to me, personally, it is something I totally prefer to the 90s anime Mamoru and Tuxedo Mask who just happened to randomly run into them all the time. Who came to battles late and made an entrance. Who was only ever shown basically with Chibs and Usagi around, so often detachted from Usagi’s friendship with the girls. It’s this Crystal Mamoru who is just part of the group.

I can’t remember if I rebologged this before, but even if I did, it deserves to be shared, again.

Now, I love me some anime Mamoru (for the most part!) because he’s a smitten idiot who can’t dress himself, BUT Crystal definitely does a much better job of portraying him as part of the group. 

He’s not just some gimmicky side-kick to Sailor Moon. He’s one of them, which is way more realistic to me, especially considering all the shit this group has been through together <3

I believe that other worlds do exist. Every fictional universe is out there, not just in your mind. Maybe, someday, we’ll figure out how to find our way to one of those worlds. Until then, just close your eyes and you will be there.
