There were so many concerning things involved in Europa’s attempt to desensitize herself, but Porthos didn’t have the time or the patience to tell Luna all that was wrong with that. Instead of wasting too much breath, he noted just how upset the whole ordeal made the lieutenant. While he could see what the harm in lying was, he also viewed his fib as more of a playful joke than anything else. If he really meant to be cruel, he could have said any number of meanings to the abbreviation. 

“I guess all navigators are supposed to be bland little people that have no personality? Welp, I better go tell people that they need to stop telling jokes and having harmless fun now.” He had so much respect for Luna and yet she didn’t seem to understand him. Perhaps she should have been held at arm’s length. “Excuse me lieutenant . I must go apologize to Europa after I get to my shift.” 

Luna sighed, shaking her head. Her hand went to her temples and began to massage the flesh. She wanted to grip him by the shoulders and shake his body until he knew her frustration. Instead, she chose to mutter a few colorful things in French under her breath before looking up at him.

“Just, don’t send her to me unless you really need to Porthos. I barely have time to take a break to relieve my bladder and you have me explaining things to people all because you either wanted to joke around or were too scared to do it yourself. Just, please,” she pinched the bridge of her nose, “Think more carefully about what you are doing?”

Porthos knew the LT’s stance was not a good sign and yet he kept the expression on his face. Of course the first mention of pies had his smile turning into a look of disgust. “Why doesn’t Euro have the safe search on?” Perhaps she’d miss vital information if something she looked up had to do with the naked human form, but at least she wouldn’t be exposed to stuff people commonly considered a dirty joke. “I still don’t see what I did wrong. If she were a big girl, then she can get over a harmless tease.” He had to be exposed to the real world so how was Europa any different? 

“I mean if you want to watch fighters measuring themselves, by all means, I’m not going to judge you. Well I thought you were interested in Fenrir. It’s really none of my business. And hey! I’m much more interesting than these other stale pieces of bread on the bridge! Your sarcasm is not appreciated.” 

“She normally keeps it off because she is usually trying to shock herself out of, well, her issue.” She unfolds her arms, taking a slim finger and pointing it at Porthos, eyes narrowed. “It’s about honesty. I’m the one angry, because honestly, why couldn’t you be honest with her and spare everyone involved the trouble?” Her face turned red at the mention of a certain other person.

“Oh trust me, we have a very sound understanding in our relationship with each other. Actually, I inform her of all the stupidity I see around me. She enjoyed a particular story about two of my Navigators fighting in the Hanger, with foils, was it? Have you any stories you would love to add to the pool?” She smiles politely. “Oh trust me Porthos, you certainly have a special place in my opinion! And sarcasm is how Europeans communicate! I figured you would figure that one out. Was I wrong?”

There was absolutely no way for Porthos to stop the stupid grin on his face. 

It only became wider the more the lieutenant spoke. At least she hadn’t given him some sort of punishment yet. He didn’t understand what the issue was. Simply having fun with something so harmless didn’t seem brig-worthy. It wasn’t as if the Jovian moon never poked a little fun at his expense. There was also the fact that he didn’t want to explain anything sexual to Euro ever in his entire life.  “I’m sure there are things I don’t know much about, but humans invented computers and search engines for that very reason.” He scrunched his nose and his expression deflated. “What is she going to do? Pour glue and feathers on me? Try to push me over with her twig arms? I think I’m fine Luna.” He folded his arms and rolled his eyes. “And if I weren’t messy, the bridge would be as bland as the food they serve here.”

Luna folded her arms over her chest, frowning and tapping her foot on the ground. She knew better than to think this was going to die down easily. “She knows better than to just search engine things after the incident involving cream pies. That poor girl really did just want a pie that was cream, not what she found. And you don’t know what she’s planning! Have you forgotten that we Navigators are supposively geniuses in various things? Europa is going to make you pay for this and I can’t stop her.” She shook her head.

“Yeah yeah yeah, sure. Not like I can’t just watch a Fighter squabble or passive aggressive men having dick measuring contests. No, Porthos! You, you are the prize entertainment of the Bridge! How lucky we are to truly have you,such a gift.”

The Navigator sighed, shaking her head as she tried to figure out how to best deal with the cocky pretty boy in front of her. Porthos was taking this as a joke, Luna was taking this as a large annoyance. “For the love of God Porthos, wipe that smirk off your face! Look, there are things she may be clueless about but there are things that you are as well. I told her the truth, which was that the things she inquired of me were not programs but sexual kinks. She didn’t ask me to specify. She made a face, cursed in German, and said that she was ‘going to make him pay’. Honestly, she accepts minor answers to questions we all know she would puke at the answers to.” She merely shook her head.

“You are such a messy Navigator.”

“Okay I’ll call the time. The time is…” He looked over at Luna and slumped his shoulders “When’s my next break? Okay I’ll see you in five hours. Name your place.” This was fun. Porthos was behind a screen all day long any bit of excitement would be gratifying but this amount was a punch in the face. 

He turned his attention to Euro. “Wasn’t so bad was it? You were over reacting. We should get back to the bridge. Oh and Cass? Get ready to lose.”.

Cass hands Euro her tea, spreading her arms out with a shit eating grin on her face.

“Can’t wait to see what you got, you emu! I got training but I will see you in the hanger. Don’t chicken out.” she turns around and walks out of the Med Bay. Luna puts her hand on Euro’s shoulder.

“Come along, little kitten. We have work!” Euro stands there for a moment.

“What the fresh fuck did I miss?!”

Mirroring her grin, he took the last sip of his coffee and dropped the cup into the small waste basket near the curtain. 

“Is there a person from any city on Earth that doesn’t know how to fence? Where are we doing this? Do you want to feel bad about yourself because challenging me to fencing is just how you do that.”.

Holding his head back and putting his hands on his waist he grinned at Cass.

Cass stands straight.

"Perfect! And no. You see, I'm competitive and you, Cockatiel, are my new competition. Call the time, I'll call the place. " Luna looks over.

"Oh hello Europa! You ready to do work on the bridge? Please? "

“Oh you did?” He narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms, puffing his chest out to make his stance seem forced.

“Did you hear about my flight scores going up? Did you hear about my max in weightlifting? Did you hear that I swoon people with the slight glimmer of my teeth?” Cass had opened the door to the flood of Porthos’ pride and he could go on and on about himself but he had to unfold his arms and relax his position a bit to grab his coffee for another sip.

His eyes landed on Luna. “Anyway don’t you have some work for me to do or was this tea time in the MedBay?”.

Luna grinned.

“Let’s wait for our friend to be done. She should be any minute.” She takes another sip as Cass gives him an incredulous look.

“She warned me you had an ego the size of the star Sirius. I heard about your pride, and the fact that you like to call Ropie any nickname associated with being small. Ain’t her fault! But I got to ask, can you fence?” She grins, leaning forward.

He knitted his brows at Cass but couldn’t manage to look all that mad while grabbing a cup and taking a sip without adding a thing, Coconut? It was imaginative. At least she didn’t call him a pineapple.

“ Ice baby?” There he was interrupting their conversation, determined to show just how abrasive he could be. “ I thought Small fry over her”, he gestured over to Euro,” was the “Ice baby””.

Cass looked over, shaking her head.

“My Ice Baby hates being in here. Did you honestly replace her with a clone?” Luna shook her head.

“It’s fine Cass. She’s fine. I’m fine. Porthos over there is fine. No one got replace with evil clones.” Cass nods.

“Okay got it boss lady. But I’m gonna keep a good eye on Sparks over there.” She makes an ‘I’m watching you’ gesture at Porthos.

“I heard about you, you tit! I heard about you.”

His smile grew wider. “That’s good. I’ve only put up with Europa all day. You won’t believe how she came running into the bridge. I thought you were dying.” He leaned back onto an empty silver tray table. 

A nurse ran by and shooed him off of it before going behind the curtain Euro just disappeared into. The nurse started asking a series of questions, unfazed by any hesitation from the small navigator.

Porthos didn’t want to listen in on any of the personal information flying around so he turned his head to Luna and spoke loudly. “Where is that damn coffee? I hope Euro told them to bring me some too. It’s probably cold by now.”

“Euro apparently rarely gets sick so doctors were usually reserved for death or bad breaks and ailments. Also, her parents and paternal ancestors were all doctors going back who knows how much. She didn’t say. I asked once when she nearly bit a doctor who came at her too fast to bandage up a minor cut on her hand. Need to know why.” Luna smirked, folding her arms across her chest.

“Trust me. You will know when the coffee gets here.”A few moments later a taller Navigator walked in, two cups in hand and one in the crook of her arm.

“Alright, who ordered the piss and who are the two unlucky bastards that want the black tar?”

“She is also attempting to learn some French. Really, she is a very sweet woman. And the idea that we would p-possibly be an item.” Her face turned red. She brought the tablet up to try and hide her now redden face.

“She outranks me and she does have a brother you know. Just, don’t you have work to do?!”

" Was that a note from Lieutenant Valentina? What's it say?"

Luna had sat, lovingly rereading the note that the Fighter from the other ship had sent when Porthos scared her. She squawked, holding the datapad to her chest.

“Mon Dieu! Porthos! Do not sneak behind me! ” she cleared her throat.

“Fenrir” she made sure to put emphasis on the word, “was just making sure our crew was doing okay. No one trying to kill everyone again. Making sure our own Fighters were behaving. You know! ” she leans forward.

“Boring things! ”

@silverseaoflight from  ♏ As Euro moved behind the curtain, Porthos laughed to himself. The fear of doctors was just ridiculous to him. It was so ridiculous that he called over the divider, “ Doctors don’t bite but if they do, they usually sterilize after.”.

He turned to Luna and gave a soft smile. “At least a check up pulled you away from your terminal for a while. You don’t have anything you need help with? What did your fighter do?”.

Euro just left out a high pitch whine. Luna shook her head, a smile playing on her lips. “They have to worry about her biting them, Puce. Not the other way around. As for what my fighter did, there’s a running joke about him getting kicked if I get overworked. ” She reaches out, patting his arm. “Don’t you fret. I am fine. ”

“I don’t know about gods but this an awful amount of work and I don’t know if the ships coffee is enough.” sighing he closed out the bracket to another string of code.  “Do you think we can convince Keeler to recruit more people for this?”.

She shrugs.

“Patel gave me a good try but he had to go to bed. Who do you think we could get to help? ” she typed away quickly.

“I don’t think the Alliance has a budget big enough for all the coffee we need, perhaps. ”

Phobos would probably kill Porthos for even suggesting he waste his time working so he had to think of someone else with a similar schedule that did decent work. Unfortunately he didn’t get along very well with the person he had in mind but with Luna seeming so tired and his eyes watering, he had no choice. “Europa might be able to help us. She usually gets a ton of her work done.”  Hopefully he wouldn’t have to fight Euro between screens.

"Europa? The little German speaking girl? She does work hard. She also doesn't sleep for over three days at a time. " She leans back, humming.

"Yes. Get her to help. We need all the help we can get."
