The Concert in Central Park 40th anniversary
September 19th 1981, Central Park (NYC), 6.30pm ... 40 years ago, today, one of the greatest concerts ever, held in one of the most beautiful places in the world, with 500.000 people in the audience, happened. A concert for Central Park, a concert that completely changed the image of that place forever, the concert where one of the most incredible and successful duos in the music history, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, truly reunited for the very first time after 20 years, performing in their own city. Simon and Garfunkel made history that night and, unexpectedly, created something unique that will last forever and ever.
New and old songs mixed together, feelings and emotions that created the duo's magic once again.
Paul Simon, few minutes after the concert's beginning, said: "Well it's great to do a neighborhood concert. I hope everyone can hear us. I hope that the sound is good. I hope we are blasting Central Park West and Fifth Avenue pretty much away . " And so it was.
