The show we love is made up of so many wonderful, nuanced characters.
As the fandom grows, and we manifest a season 2, it is a great time to pay homage to the supporting characters that have helped impact the (after)lives of our ghost detective crew.
Simon (pulled, likely, from the character of Simon Mould from the Dead Boy Detectives comics) is a character that greatly changed the trajectory of Edwin Payne's story, not once, but twice.
After getting ahold of his brother's book, he and other St. Hilarion's classmates steal Edwin away in the dark of night and sacrifice Edwin to the demon Sa'al, trapping Edwin in Hell for more than 70 years.
Later, upon Edwin's second coming to Hell, Edwin's conversation with Simon is the final piece of the puzzle that allows Edwin to have self-compassion and embrace his own identity as a young man in love with his best friend.
Coinciding with the birthday week of Simon's actor, Gabriel Drake, Simon Appreciation Week will be Sunday, 1 September to Saturday, 7 September, 2024.
