This is going to be a very deranged rant, but I’ll look at some artists’ portrayal of Makima and wonder if they’re even attracted to women at all. It’s all so cartoony, like the sort of thing an alien learning about human portrayal would create. No care for the female form, just the bullet point of “boob”— because those are what people like, righttt?

My friend once told me being a pervert improves your art, and I heavily agree with her. So that’s why these people separate true passion for a sanitized internet-view of sex. Boobs are heavily emphasized, because it’s easier to bait than the vagina (unless it’s straight up porn) while keeping a “only mildly NSFW view”. Because the objective is interactions, a quick glance, nothing else. So the top (chest) and bottom (hips) are all they care for. Not hands, or legs, or mannerisms that make a human being sensual. It’s objective, thoughtless and created only for surface-level AWOOOGAH.

I probably sound insane. But if you can’t make a Makima drawing look “sexy” without inaccurately drawing her proportions, I can’t respect you. Understand what is beautiful about the body. You don’t need a singular area of skin showing to make something look erotic. Of course, this goes for every single portrayal of women. But I’ve been thinking about her on this issue Particularly since she is a favorite of gooner artists pumping out monotonous jerk-off content slop.

Because Makima is a meaningful character to me, I’ve had to see these misinterpretations of her character for five years, I’m used to it, but it will never stop being maddening. She can’t occupy the space of the “three faced woman” (maiden, mother, whore) (the reason she could manipulate Denji so well— by taking the role of every woman in his life) she did in the original because people are incapable of consuming erotic content without immediately going to touch themselves about it and forgetting everything else.

Makima would not fuck you! Makima would not fuck anyone! The entire point is she has one on a leash, leading, leading— leading to her humanity restoration that has nothing to do with sex at all, just your presumptions. So I guess life is art….. as it always is.
